Donald Trump loves to golf, and if you don’t believe it all you have to do is look at the tab that the president has run up since being sworn in back on Jan. 20.
According to the website DidTrumpGolfToday.com, the president has golfed 37 out of his first 152 days in office. That is nearly a quarter — 24.3% — of his time during this second term out on the golf course. The bill for that comes in at a whopping $51,800,00.
That’s right, nearly $52 million dollars spent golfing since January.
The same website reports that the president last golfed on June 7, and the president drew heat from critics this week as he discussed just how long it has been since he has been out on the course, considering issues in the country and the escalating situation between Israel and Iran.
Trump made the comments to reporters on the White House’s South Lawn.
“35 club championships,” video shows the president saying. “You all know that. I haven’t hit a ball in three weeks, four weeks.
“It’s time to (get out there).”
Trump then looked up at one of the flags he was having installed, and said, “Wouldn’t you rather have me be doing what I’m doing in the end?”
CBS senior news White House reporter Jennifer Jacobs shared on X that the president is leaving for his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey on Friday.
“He’ll get an intelligence briefing with the National Security council on Friday here at White House and again after he returns to the White House on Saturday,” she wrote. “He’s scheduled another intel briefing on Sunday.”
It sounds like Trump is making sure he is looped in while he steps out, but his critics pounced.
“God forbid WW3 should keep him from golf,” one person responded on X.
“At least when he’s cheating at golf he can’t be (expletive) things up worse,” another wrote on X.
“He golfed 11 days ago,” another wrote. “I expect around-the-clock coverage on Trump’s brain failures now.”
And, of course, author Rick Reilly, who wrote a book about Trump cheating at golf, never misses it when the president brags on his golf game.
“Trump just said he has ’35 club championships,’” Reilly wrote on X. “That’s true, unless you dismiss tourneys where … he was the only entrant, he wasn’t even in town, he played 1 of the 2 days, he put his name on the wall because he owns the place. If you don’t count those, the actual number is 0.
“Trump saying today that he’s won ’35 club championships’ is pure Trumposity since the last time it was ’25,” Reilly added. “Both numbers are as fake as Velveeta so why not just add a cheeky 10? (None of them are real.) #CommanderInCheat.”
