The PGA Tour’s Unbreakable Drive Record

what was the longest drive in the history of the PGA Tour well it happened in 1992 and really it was a 1 in a million fluke Carl Cooper played professionally for 4 years but had no idea that he was about to make history when he teed up at par 4 third hole during the Texas open at Oak Hills Country Club the hole was 444 yd long but Cooper overcooked his Drive pushing it to the right where it amazingly found a downhill cart path I tried to cut the ball and I cut it too much so it just kept bouncing and bouncing and bouncing from the cart path it found a little maintenance road and it kept on rolling eventually coming to a stop after 787 y a 4on and an eight iron later Cooper made back the 300 yards he just overshot the green by and somehow only suffered a double bogey six Cooper left the tour in 1993 and most likely his record will last forever

  1. Mike Austin hit a legitimate drive (no cart path assistance) 515yds in 1974 in a US seniors tournament

  2. That technically isn't a drive. It had outside forces. Why don't we drive off of a mountain and count the distance out and down? Why didn't we hit a ball out into the ocean that floats and wait for the currents to stop at some thousands of miles away.

  3. Thats like hitting a homerun in baseball and fan taking the ball home. Shouldn't count.
