Donald Trump’s granddaughter Kai made a faux pas on Saturday as she marked his 79th birthday
Donald Trump’s granddaughter Kai made somewhat of a faux pas on Saturday as she marked the President’s 79th birthday on social media.
Kai, who recently enjoyed a trip to Orlando, took to her Instagram Story on June 14 to wish her grandfather a happy birthday and shared a snap of them together at The White House. In the photo, Trump is grinning from ear-to-ear as he sits at his desk with Kai standing on his left with her arm draped across the top of his chair.
The 18-year-old daughter of Donald Trump Jr captioned the Story: “Happy Birthday Grandpa! Love you,” alongside a red heart emoji. Kai then decided to follow it up with another post featuring an old group photo, which included Elon Musk.

The photo in question was taken back in 2024, before Trump’s epic fallout with Musk, which has seen the latter claim that the President is in the Jeffrey Epstein files.

In the group photo, Trump is seen posing with his children, including Tiffany, Ivanka and Barron. Last November, footage emerged which showed Trump insisting Musk be a part of the family photo, despite the billionaire initially stepping out of the way.
Body language and behavioral expert Darren Stanton believed the moment showed that Trump considered Musk “family” and intended him to become a “key adviser” throughout his second term.
Speaking on behalf of Slingo, Darren explained at the time: “When the photographer says about ‘the family’ getting into the photo, Elon steps out of shot, but Trump insists he stays and gets into the photo.

“It’s clear Trump really values Musk and does class him as family. Essentially, most people would feel compelled to step out, as Musk does, but Trump makes a big thing of him getting back into the shot.
“It’s clear from this moment that Musk will be prominent and around in the new administration. Elon Musk and Trump have a very deep relationship and trust each other implicitly,” he continued.
It’s unsure why Kai chose this exact group photo to mark her grandfather’s birthday, especially due to the recent collapse of Trump and Musk’s personal, and professional, relationship.
Earlier this week, Musk published a recent tweet expressing remorse for his comments against Trump.

The public spat began after Musk went on an explosive rant on Twitter, calling Trump’s ‘big, beautiful bill’ a “disgusting abomination” a few days after his formal exit as a special government employee heading the Department of Government Efficiency.
“I’m sorry but I just can’t stand it anymore,” Musk, who was revealed to be allegedly using drug cocktails by a bombastic New York Times article last week, wrote.
“This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination,” he said on X.
“Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it,” he added, claiming that it will “massively increase the already gigantic budget deficit to $2.5 trillion and burden American citizens with crushingly unsustainable debt.”
