mark as we look ahead to the US Open it’s going to be a tough test i’m so excited to see it this week but in your mind which Canadian has the best chance to contend at Oakmont i really have two in mind to be honest with you uh Nick Taylor just because he seems to be in form has played so well the last two weeks and don’t kid yourself the last two weeks thick rough big ballparks great tuneups as we lead into a US Open and for me Nick’s just got to tighten it up a little uh he was contending again this week that’s back-to-back weeks in huge tournaments he’s contending with a chance to win on Sunday just needs to tighten it up a hair the other one’s Taylor Pender not only just because he’s had a nice stretch of play Scully but you got to think Oakmont’s going to be uh set up for guys who can drive it well off the tea keep it in the fairway strikes strokes getting off the tea going to be another big number this week as it was at the RBC Canadian Open taylor Pener though needs to get better with the irons the putter has come around that’s the good news the driver’s been there all season it’s still there those irons need to get sharp but for me those are the two I’ve got my eye on at Oakland you know what’s funny Mark and we didn’t talk about this before we started doing our show i’ll give you two other Canadians who I really am high on this week i’m starting with Cory Connors i mean he’s been captain consistency all season with the five top 10s we know he’s going to very likely make the cut let’s see if he learns from the experiences he’s had in the past at major championships he’s also 10th in strokes gained off the tea uh for the season on the PGA Tour and then McKenzie Hughes we know he’s a very streaky player and we know he wasn’t feeling his best battling some sort of stomach bug Sunday at the RBC Canadian Open but I think that streak he’s currently on is a good streak right now so 22nd as well in strokes gained around the green we know how critical chipping will be this week at Oakmont and if Matt can drive it relatively well he’s been in the mix before at the US Open back in 2021 got an awful break at Tory Pine so I’ll go Mackenzie Hughes that’s awesome how we were both on two different players this week
