Can I Break a Public Course Record in One Try? (Water Everywhere)
water Chase Golf Club one of the highest rated public golf courses in all of Texas Okay that should be pretty good guys And today I’ll be attempting to break the course record in a single try Take that any day of the week My goodness what a special shot there Having hosted PGA Tour qualifiers and boasting a wide variety of complex holes this place is definitely no walk in the park Step step step step There we go Hopefully it’s in the hole What if we made a hole in one how crazy would that be through my first five episodes I’ve had three ties and two fails The course record is currently 64 and it’ll take some seriously good golf to shoot a 9 under 63 and get the job done All right Bryson I got a little right down the middle of the fairway over this right bunker here and get off to a hot start here Come on [Music] Yeah that’s fine All right Well off to the races Winds off the left Not the easiest of driving all especially when you see water left and right And I’ve been missing my driver just a fraction right lately So working on that Feel like I’ve got a good plan on it but um yeah we’ll see today Can’t have any mistakes Trying to break a course record You can’t mess up It’s 93 yards up on top of a little crest I wonder if they set it up hard for me today or not I don’t know Hopefully not too hard This pin doesn’t look inviting 93 yards Gonna play 90 yards Just under full 10:00 down Sit Don’t spin All right Good strike Good way to start the day Nice little birdie putt Easy game No it’s not I still got to make that drive chip putt I still got to make that We’re only on hole one You’ve already had a good wedge shot So that might be something special It might be surprise be a sign Can’t take these for granted though Just a little left thread of anything All right Good birdie Way to start off the day Well on our way Don’t get ahead of myself though It’s only the first hole A lot of water around this place from what I hear Well it is called water chase 222 into the wind Going to play like 280 or excuse me 230 Why I say 280 i have no idea No clue I believe it’s going to be six iron Yeah So what I’m going to do is aim at Shaylor Hit a nice draw on there Get left Okay that’s pretty safe I really didn’t know what was left of the green so yeah wind kind of died down as soon as you hit it It kind of did but I just didn’t go check what was left of the green to make myself comfortable to hit at that flag I’ll take it Look look guys Like we’re doing well and I’m not about to just go for a flag when I don’t necessarily need to and I can make a 25 footer That’s honestly what I think I’ve done a lot better at Not only has my equipment helped me get better but I feel like I’ve I’m thinking through the golf course a little differently I’m able to focus on okay where can I be where can I be what’s going to give me the best opportunity to make birdie and what’s not what’s what’s going to put me in trouble so it’s not really a mental game It’s more of a strategic approach There’s a difference between the mental game and a strategic approach I think Step step step step Oh my gosh Chase That was a good roll That have been a hot start man Alive to get that would have been nice All right par Not terrible not awful One of the par 3’s down Tough long par three Hopefully they’re shorter than this for the other four But if I got that one out of the way man if I would have made birdie way ahead of the game Five par five’s coming Five parf’s coming up I mean if you just eagle every one then you break the chase Do you know how hard it is to eagle par five Take that par Move right along Don’t even need to worry about that Got to keep it up Oh we’re going this way Oh par five Huh Yeah How much room do I have left this is your tightest hole Oh got it looks great for a public course It’s amazing Did a great job here So I’m going to go at the edge of the bunker Left edge of the bunker Try to draw it in there Maybe more middle of the bunker just cuz side slope’s going to Yeah side slope’s going to move it Hook in there Come on It didn’t hook It went off the left What wow I got smoked by the wind That might not have even gotten there Guess I kind of got lucky What a good little test of a golf hole I felt like that wind was off the right and no sir it was off the left and it was pumping into us So glad I got over the water Yeah I thought that was a better swing than what I ended up swinging Yeah not the craziest chip but definitely not easy here folks Oh that was such a close shot to being perfect That was tough guys Tough landing spot Give myself an uphill putt Chance at birdie but not what I wanted with this par five I ran out a good bit too I was thinking it was going to stop a little earlier I like this one though That’s big What a good birdie there guys Especially after that second shot I just like that one for you You just read it Yeah And you rolled it and you hold it There’s certain ones where I just know you’ll make them They have all have a certain look to them What’s the look i don’t know I couldn’t explain it I just look at them I just know you’re going to make it Just look at it Can you uh be in my golf tournaments to tell me I’m going to make every one of them yeah that would be fun No No I would tell you that that swing was Okay How long is this one uh 374 Oh so you can just drive it no it’s in the wind It’s perfect All right I think that’s good That was the most underwhelming club flip I’ve ever seen in my life That’s why I did it I tried to be cool like Chi Rodriguez but look him up He’s from the olden days Um he’s a goat He does like Zoro club flip sort of thing What a nice drive there I will take that any day of the week Goodness I can’t wait for a downwind hole Feel like every hole has been semi off into the wind Every single hole so far once I get the downwind holes Woo watch out 53 into the wind Going to play this 58 out of the rough 60 yards 60 yards is 930 How short is that 20 ft You’re kidding There’s that wedge shot you talk about Time to make a bomb guys So this right here Bryson is is one of those ones where I would say probably not Odds would say you’re right but I’m making too many of them So actually almost calms me down in a weird way Just be like “Okay all right Everything’s normal It’s it’s real It’s fine.” you know but um I still wanted it All right what do we got here uh well this is apparently now a semi-drivable hole Huge dog left It’s 330 yards to the green so I’m just trying to pump it over these trees Hit it on the green Literally perfect I hope that’s good Well that one was it good Hopefully it’s in the hole What if we made a hole in one how crazy would that be actually how crazy would that be i think he says it’s okay I don’t know I don’t know where it is I’m so nervous right now Where is it oh perfect Let’s go I mean we’d be on pace for history if you make this one I just don’t like landing it on on I feel like it’s just going to run choice sometimes How it goes guys See if we can make a birdie here and get this thing cooking 108 uphill Is it a little into the wind i think it’s a little cross and just a little into us and cross 115 shot little left Hopefully I can make that for birdie and get out of here with a seven under Shoot 29 Oh I’m five under You’re five under through seven and then pard that five Oh yeah I’m five those bungers to fly it’s 370 So maybe if you just go right at the bunkers and try and get lucky right Yeah I mean you want to just be in between those two bunkers on the right Should be good Just towed it a bit and wind brought it back I just feel like I’m leaving that drive rack just to the right a little bit Not able to turn the face over right now for some reason Kind of a weird deal Got to
