Scotty Sheffer hits the middle of the Fairway better than anybody else on tour let’s see how two critical items at shaft parallel a square Club face and an on plane takeaway but he seems to break two rules at the top a slightly CED wrist and a shaft that crosses over plane but you can see what’s important is his hips stay back and his head does not creep towards the golf ball which allows him an under plane down swing and a perfect impact position meaning his crazy feet really don’t have any impact on accuracy

cupped wrist is not breaking any rules. Your wrist conditions are dictated by your grip. If your grip is weak it has to bow to have face square. If your grip is strong your wrist can be cupped but face will still be square. The outlier is DJ who has strong grip and is bowed which makes his face dead shut. Which is why he swings the way he does (mere mortals cannot replicate it)
Hey bud, I apologize I find myself commenting on your shorts…something you said about "cupped wrist at the top breaking the rule"…There are no rules! Its so popular today to look at slo mo positions and angles and lines …but its not ment to fit a swing into a mold its ment to see how it all fits together and figure out if there is anywaay to help the player build more consistancy! There are easier and harder ways to hit a golf ball, some guys play with moves that take more timing from smaller muscles moving at faster speeds. What we have found by analyzing golf swings for 200 years is that there are many ways to play well BUT its a lot easier for most people to hit the ball more consistantly when there are fewer moving parts AND the part that control the direction of the ball are slower moving and stable and muscles that have fewer small movements and more simple bigger ones…Anyway, your playing scratch golf so you obviously know what your doing …I would just encourage you to before you mark up the slomo, look at the whole and figure out what the player uses to control the ball…work backwards from there and it become more wholistic and easier to detect what positions could possible help the player…Im sorry I dont mean to preach…I just work with a lot of kids and have to explain this to parents..a lot!
What’s under his sleeve?
Who ever said a cupped left wrist is bad is out of their mind
because he is rock solid until he hits the ball, everything after is ultimately irrelevant
Starts on plane, then goes way upright and back to on plane. P6 is a nice stop snap shot in this video and it's superb. I never freak out about footwork when im critiquing a swing. It's odd though that the takeaway would be so perfect then just go way up?????
I dont kno why people worry so much about that foot, it prolly allows him to open up his hips jus a bit more on contact and follow thru. May also be the reason he tends to miss left if he does miss, but cmon man this guy is undeniably the greatest golfer right now. Whatever he does works amazingly.
There are no rules. It’s swinging a club. Whatever works.
ya for now, but one of these days he's going to roll an ankle and that will affect his accuracy greatly
I think the right foot movement is a result of keeping the right knee from flexing in toward the ball. I think he probably had an issue of the right knee flexing in to the ball and he's tried getting the trail knee to go forward, kiss the kness. And as a result his foot drags. I say this because i have the same right movement, it moves, drags back and this was because as a junior golfer my trail knee would float in toward the ball, hinders the trail hip getting clear. I tried focusing on the trail knee moving into the lead knee and as a result my trail foot would slide backwards.
So he's number one in driving accuracy on tour? Wow!
That's his swing! Weight forward at set up allows for more consistent ball first contact.
He drops his trail elbow nicely after lifting it much too high for me!! Find your own swing, everyone has their own swing including the top pros. None of them have the same swing!
Body type and age dictate what swing will work for you.
Scottie scheffler is good at golf.
Best summery of good dynamics . Scotty and Nelly 💪🏻
He's playing great now. The true test of his mechanics will be longevity at the top.
Ugly but effective
See,?these guys trying to pretend they can gives us any practical knowledge by putting lines on a video and giving the same old stupid talks.
First off, is Scottie trying to hit a fade here? Or a big draw into a left to right wind?
Is he trying to hit a super straight ball?
(Which he rarely if ever does. He always moves it on way or another)
Is he trying to flight it, keep it down or hit it really high?
Tell me., YouTube Click boy, tell me what he’s trying to do.
Different shots will always have differences in “Positions” on a video.
He doesn’t always cross the line at the top.
A flighted seven iron with a slightly bowed left wrist at the top. So us that video.
This stuff leads people nowhere.
Scottie Scheffler —FedEx Cup Champ!
Surely the 2 things that are critical are the club face and the club path? That's the 2 things that determine the ball flight. Get that right and you can stand on your head and swing the club.
His 'crazy feet' are what allows him to swing in the manner that he does. The gold swing starts from the ground up..
