These are all the greatest golf shoes of 2025. And we put them up against each other until we found the best one. And to kick off the first round, we’ve got the Jay Lindberg Vents versus the Puma Royals. So, this wasn’t a difficult decision. The Jay Lindberg, very pretty shoe, very good style, and a really nice box as well, but just in terms of the comfort, the grip, the playability of a golf shoe. It doesn’t really compare to what the Puma Royale gives. for a spike shoe. We’re going to talk about this a little bit later. Not as much grip as you think, but the durability, the leather skin, the classic sort of retro style. Really nice golf shoe. So, this is the winner of the first round. The Puma Royals take the first round. And up next, we’ve got the G4 Gallivans versus the Under Armour Drive Pro Wides. Talk about a big matchup of two huge shoes industry at the moment. Two different designs here. The Gallivan going more for that retro like the Puma Royals. I think the Drive Pro ride is just a little bit chunky for my liking. I think it’s it’s a beast of a shoe and it does well to support you and gives you great grip around the course. But with the Gallivan, you’ve got that nice retro style similar to the Puma Royals and it gives you sufficient grip. It gives you great comfort and what is great about the shoe is when you put your foot inside, it’s got these little ridges along the bottom so it feels like your foot’s being massaged as you walk around. If you’re looking for a shoe that serves you comfort and stability for 18 holes forever, this is your shoe. But I think with the Gavan, you can get that, but with the extra style and not as much grip locking you into the ground. G4 takes the second round. And up next, we’ve got the Travis Matthew dailies and the New Balance 997s. Now, what I quite like about the Travis Matthew Daily Pros is that they’re quite a clean and generally versatile shoe. They’re not just the golf course. They come to the golf course, playing them, leaving them all in the same shoe. And I really like the use of just the light blue inside of the shoe. where Travis Matthew have done well with the use of the blue inside of the shoe, New Balance I don’t think have. But moving on to the course, I think the New Balance actually showed quite a lot of promise. I’ve traditionally known New Balance to be quite a street wear, just quite a casual wear shoe. But the fact that they’re doing golf shoes with that style and with the performance boost of it combined into the shoe, I think that’s a really strong sign for the brand going forward. But overall, I think the style, the versatility, the comfort, and the grip, even for a non-spike shoe that Travis Matthew offers, I think Travis Matthew wins it. A big win for Travis Matthew. But up next, we’ve got the Puma Ignites versus the Fjoy Hyperflex. Now, style-wise, don’t like this shoe. Looks a little bit like a kids trainer. Inside’s got some sort of green patterning, a few lines going around, but the oranging, the black, I think just looks a little bit kidy versus quite a classy modern take on what FootJoy do so well with the Premier is that retro, that leather look. This has got all the modern technology, all of the modern stitching on it. And combined with the comfort, the support, the durability you get with the material and the grip, but you’re not locked into the ground like we talked about spike shoes having that issue earlier with this gives you a great amount of grip, a great amount of mobility, and a greatl looking shoe as well. Foot joy take that win. And to get things started on the other side of the tree, we’ve got the Reebok Nanos and the New Balance 480s. I love this shoe. I think the style of it is really good, but not just the style. Out testing this on the golf course, the grip this gives you for a non-spike shoe is actually really impressive. I think the Nano looks really good and it’s a really good shoe from Reebok coming into the golfing market. But I think the New Balance, just look at how gorgeous that shoe is. The performance, the comfort, I think, especially the durability of this thing. The material is much easier to maintain versus the more the coarser socky material on the Reebot that it has. I think the comfort of the shoe is definitely there with the Rebot, especially with the technology it has around the middle of the sole really supports your ankle, but just sort of the wide birth New Balance has, the design, the grip, the comfort, especially the durability of the material. That’s a big thing for me. I think New Balance wins on this occasion. A big win for New Balance to the next round is between the Under Armour Phantom 4s and the Travis Matthew Ringers. Now, this is a spike shoe versus a non-spike shoe again. But I think where Under Armour really are progressing in the shoe market is for their non-spike shoes, just how much grip and support that they provide. You can see on the bottom here, instead of actual spikes, they’ve got these ridges coming out of the bottom of the shoe that really grip into the ground, but they’re not locking you into the mud and the grass just like a spiked shoe would. Comfortwise, I think I have to go with the Under Armour. The way that the shoe just sort of spreads you out across the ground gives you an even sort of spread across the floor and it’s got that bit more malleable material on the top of the shoe. So, it’s hugging your foot instead of your foot being inside of an enclosed space. So, for that reason, Under Armour wins it. Under Armour is through to the next round, but our next matchup is between the G412s and the Echo Biome H5. The 112. This is a really, really cool looking shoe. This is really sort of if you’re looking at the scale of sort of street modern wear to classic golf shoe. This is far the other way. You’ve got the inscription on the sides of the shoe. You’ve got these sort of little pointy spikes coming out the side. If I saw this online looking for the shoes, I would not think it’s a golf shoe straight away until I saw the brand. And what’s cool about the shoe, when you put your foot in, you get that awesome massage feeling like we talked about with the other G4 shoes. Where the Echo I think really excels is one, its grip. Look at the bottom. It’s got these sort of lightning dagger ridges on the bot. Really solidifies you into the ground. The H5 design though, just look at the bottom of the shoe. Inspired by the Highlands of Scotland. It’s sort of like a mountainous jaggedy rock design into the sole of the shoe. And also the membrane, the sort of the layer around the shoe hugs your foot. It doesn’t just enclose it, it wraps itself around your foot. The shoe becomes one with your feet. And for that reason, it’s the winner of this round. A nice win for the Echo Biom H5. And the next round is between another Echo set and the G4 MG40. Two very different shoes going up against each other. One spikes with the MG4 O2s and one non-spike with the Echo Golf Street. Again, you look at this on a golf shop or you look at it online. This is just a trainer, but it’s been designed for golf. It’s got the ridges on the bottom. Gives you a good amount of grip, but the comfort on this thing is actually quite impressive. And the waterproof resistance as well, despite the little hydrating holes that it has in the side. Coming to the G4, I think I was finding the same problems I was getting with the Under Armor shoe. The cleats were really locking me into the ground. My feet couldn’t feel like they had much room to really turn and I could then start to feel that in my legs and that was sort of damaging the swing a little bit. So, for this round, we’re going with the streetear. The Echo Streets take the win. And that concludes the first round. But moving to the quarterfinals, we’ve got the Puma Royale and the G4 Gallivans. And we’ve got a really tough decision on our hands here. We’ve got the Puma Royale and the G4 Gallivans. Now, if you just to look at these with a quick glance, you think they’re probably the same shoe. Now, the Puma Royale is cleated. Now, I think the cleat sort of setup on this shoe is perfect for what a cleat shoe should be doing. It’s giving you a lot of grip, but it’s not locking you into the floor like we’ve talked about before. So, there’s still a little bit of room for motion. There’s a little bit of room for to allow the knees to move, to allow the legs to move from underneath me. So, I think the grip on these is really strong. Comfortwise though, the Gallivans I think really to take a serious leap. We talked about before in the sole, they’ve got these little ridges. Feels like your foot is being massaged and it’s got quite a wide base sole as well. So I think comfortwise the Gallivan is really progressing the shoe and in this little competition I think takes it. Versatility and durability wise, I think they’re pretty much the same. They both got that sort of leather. I mean the Royals got a bit more of a coarser leather. The Gallivans have got a bit more of a smoother leather, but they’re sort of the same outer layer. But there is quite a big price difference. 150 115. So the fact that you can get the same shoe with the same performance, same design, same look for a much cheaper price. Pumors take it. The Royals make their way into the semis and the next quarterfinals between the Travis Matthew dailies and the FootJoy Hyperflex. Now these things operate on sort of two different levels. One’s a very much daily shoe. wear it to the course, around the course, after the course, in the clubhouse, in the pal, if you want to. The Hyperflex is very much a course specific shoe. Now, design-wise, again, two different things. The Hyperflex has got a lot going on. It’s got the ridges coming out the shoe. The Travis Matthew Daily is just a clean black look. I personally think there’s a little bit too much going on in the Hyperflex, but where this thing really outperforms the Travis Matthew is in its performance. Locks you into the ground, gives you a little bit of motion. You can also actually feel the ground underneath you. A common criticism I have of clated shoes is that they elevate you off the ground too much to the extent that you can’t feel the ground underneath your feet when you’re trying to read greens. That becomes a bit of an issue. But these shoes keep you level to the ground. They keep you connected to the ground and I can still read the greens through my feet in these shoes. Material wise, the FJ joys have a much more malleable and sort of hugging material on top of the shoe to connection to the feet. The Travis Matthews are a bit more of a a quite a thick and clunky material on top of the shoe which makes you it doesn’t really connect you to the shoe. But with the Hyperflex, I really felt fitted into the shoe. I felt connected to the ground. I felt it improved my golf game. And for that reason, I’m pulling the FootJoys through to the next round. The FJ Joys are our second semi finalist. And as we move to the other side of the tree, it’s between the New Balance 480s and the Under Armour Phantom 4. Again, two different shoes, both excelling in their niches. But what I love most about the New Balance, so when I first saw this shoe, I thought, “Oh, is that a tennis shoe? Is that just a normal trainer?” But no, it’s a golf shoe. And the performance backs it up as well. Looking at the grip on the bottom, it’s got these really quite fine ridges on the bottom of the shoe that just punct you into the ground, gives you grip, but also gives you mobility as well. It’s a wider platform base, giving you a lot of comfort when you’re walking those long distances. And it’s got a thicker sole. It’s not got a hugely thick sole, which I think adds to its design. It keeps it a flatter shoe, but the comfort that the shoe gives you going through the long distances, you know, the 18, 36, 54 holes, this shoe is going to be there with you the whole way round. That being saying, the under arour is also there, but it’s on a different level. Just look, look at how thick. I mean, just compared to me there. Look how thick that sole is. And there’s a lot of comfort. There’s a lot of bounce in there. But the problem that gave me was that when I came to the greens, I was very platformed off of the ground, which I think is a bit of a common issue in these large non-spike shoes who have gone more for comfort and durability over actual playability. So these these shoes when I was on the greens, I couldn’t really feel the ground underneath me. I found it difficult to get solid and comfortable over my putts, especially when they were slightly more nervy ones. So, for that reason, I think the New Balance for its playability, for its comfort, and for its awesome design, is going through the next round. As the 480s make their way into the semifinal, our last quarterfinal matchup is the battle of the Echo shoes. Now, this is going to be a quick one. The street shoe, it lasted a while. It lasted around, but I’m just going to have to go with the H5. I think what’s so special about this shoe is that it manages to encapsulate all the high-erforming attributes of every category that we’re going up against. Grip. These lightning rigs on the bottom of the shoe really plant you into the ground, gives you that mobility, comfort. The malleable material on top of the shoe really hugs your foot. Your foot’s just not just in the shoe. Your shoe is a part of the foot. the more sock texture material I had fears was going to rub on my foot over the sort of the long time periods that you wear these shoes on on golf courses. But it was fine. My feet felt really aired. They felt really well looked after. They felt really well supported. But in terms of golf playability and golf performance and just general comfort over longer periods of time, the H5 as well as its good looks wins this round. The Biome H5 takes the last spot in the semifinals. But let’s waste no time and get it to the first semi-final. What the Hyperflex serves is a more modern, more supportive version of what the Royale is. But looks-wise, in each of their respective categories, I think they really excel. The modern look of the Hyperflex, it’s paying its respects to the traditional look that it came from and enhances itself with the modern design features. The ridges on the side, the big logos on the back, the sort of extended outsole, the cushion sole. But with the Royale, you’ve got your simple, your clean retro golf shoe. the leather bound material on the outer sole. On the inside, you’ve got that sort of firmer comfort inside, but also a very small thin sole really connecting you to the floor. And it’s giving you that sort of extra benefit in playability, too. Versatility wise, I think they’re struggling on the same issues. They are very golf course specific. I wouldn’t wear this to the pub. I wouldn’t wear this to the pub. They are staying on the golf course, so they match in their respects that way. Gripwise, these are both cleated golf shoes. The Hyperflex has a bit more of the extended cleats that we were talking about, but they are a bit softer. They’re a bit more cushiony, so they do give you that platform off of the floor. The Royals, however, as I’ve spoken about before, are sort of the perfect enhancement of what a completed shoe should be. They’re not too far out the bottom of the golf shoe. They spread outwards instead of straight down. They give you that rotational grip, but they’re not locking you into the floor. Price-wise, we’ve also got a big difference. £160, £115. So, for £45 left, you can get the same grip and performance that this shoe offers. Where the shoe does beat the Pumorale, though, is in its comfort. I felt a lot more supported over 18 holes. And I think if I was ever going to do the 100 hole challenge in a day, I would go for something like this. But the wider sole with the Royale that spread myself over the ground and there is a good amount of firm comfort in the bottom of the shoe combined with the playability with the more competitive pricing with what’s more of a sleek and minimalistic design a more classic golf shoe look I’m going to choose the Puma Royale to go into the final. The Puma Royale take the first spot in the final. But let’s find out who it’s going to be up against. I don’t think I’ve ever been more pleasantly surprised by two shoes. The New Balances, like I said before, when I opened them, tennis shoe trainer, not a golf shoe. When you step into these on the golf course, you really understand that New Balance put a lot of time and effort into crafting and engineering the shoe to be a high performing golf shoe. The grip on the bottom, the com the extended comfort along the wider sole, the design that’s made for golf, but it’s also respecting where the shoe has come from. It’s really hitting the target market of the modern golfer. That being said, with the H5, this shoe is doing everything what New Balance have done and more. It’s taking sort of what the modern golf shoe should be and putting it forward ahead another 10 or 20 years. The fact that it’s taking its design inspiration from where it’s come from, it’s a very unique brand. The material along the top of the shoe really hugs onto your feet. The sock-l like material, the fact that it doesn’t rub over such a long duration of time when you’re in these shoes, the comfort that these things give. I’m not sure if you can tell, but I love this shoe. The only place I sort of hiccuped with the Biome golf shoe was with the price point. New Balance, £110, sort of standard with what you get with modern brand new shoes. The Echo Biome H5, £180. But what I think you’re getting with shoe, the durability, the fact that I’ve worn this upwards of five times over five different rounds, and you can’t actually really see any sort of scuff marks or dirt patterns on the shoe, I think speaks to itself about the quality of the design and the engineering that’s gone into the shoe. So overall, even with it slightly more steep price point, I think you’re getting a lot more per pound for your shoe with the H5. And for that reason, it’s going into the final. And that’s our final secured. The Puma Royale and the Echo Biome H5. Who is going to be crowned the best golf shoe of 2025? And this is it, the final. These two shoes, I think, are the best options that you can get in 2025 from what’s on the market. They sort of summarize everything that’s good about each of its respective categories. Puma Royale, that’s sort of the classy, the retro look style with the leather bound shoe. And you’ve got the Echo Bomb H5. Completely progressive in its design, in its manufacturing, its engineering. It’s a wacky shoe, but it works. The Royale looks wise, we’ve gone over this before, very clean, minimalistic design, classy, retro, leatherbound, small, thinner sole, very goodlooking shoe. Grip wise, I’ve gone on about this a lot in a video, but the cleats are doing everything they do. They spread out. They give you that sort of rotational grip, but they’re not locking you into the floor. Comfortwise, the wide sole at the bottom of the shoe really helps you feel platformed on the ground, but not too far away that you can’t stop reading greens through your feet. There’s a very good element of playability to these shoes. And having these shoes versus more platform ones, I think does take a shot or two off of your game. And price point, £115. A little bit cheaper than what you’re going to get with the modern golf shoe. I think where people get scared with cheaper prices is with its durability. I mean, I’ve played a good two or three rounds of these. There’s a few scuff marks here and there, but nothing that can’t be cleaned off with a paper towel and a bit of water. Moving to the H5, starting with the look. This thing is progressive. It’s wacky. It’s cool. The sole of it is inspired by the Highlands of Scotland. They’ve tried to integrate the the earth itself into the sole of this shoe. The grip on the bottom, you’ve got the lightning ridges. Really gives you that sort of locked in feeling. It’s not giving you It’s not giving you too much of a platform off the ground, but it’s giving you enough grip that a non-spiked shoe should do. Comfortwise, so comfy. Slightly thicker sole, lot of bounce, but not too much bounce that you’re not feeling the ground underneath you. The material around the top of the shoe really hugs your foot. You just really feel at home when you put this thing on. The sock-l like material underneath the laces doesn’t rub your feet too much. It keeps you comfortable. It keeps you warm. It keeps them aired. And it’s waterproof. I played this I did play around a golf in slightly wetter conditions and this thing kept my feet dry. Price point is a little seat £180 but how much technology how much grip how much versatility you’re getting with this shoe for what it does for for what it is as a golf shoe I think is well worth the money. So we have reached the point where we need to make a decision. Do we go with the retro look, the performance, the modern cleat with the classic design, or do we go with the completely modern shoe, progressing boundaries, pushing the limits, and giving you all the performance that you need? And I think that sums up my decision. We’re going with the modern H5. But that’s it for this video. We have found the best golf shoe of 2025, the Echo Bion H5. If you enjoyed the video, give it a like, subscribe to the channel, and we’ll see you on the next
