Once a fringe product, they’re now the big talking point for 2025 – Mini Drivers. TaylorMade, Titleist and Callaway all have a mini-driver out this year. Our independent club fitters test and review them.
Whether they are a driver replacement, 3 wood replacement or a bit of both, there’s no doubt the mini-driver has really come to the fore this year – but why?
They’re getting more popular because:
* Enhanced Accuracy and Control – some players simply find them easier to hit and keep on the fairway than large drivers.
* Versatility off the tee and fairway – the lofted mini-drivers can be a versatile club of the short stuff as well as the tee.
* Driver / 3 Wood Bridge – as a first choice or second tee club the mini-driver can be a useful distance club and some players find them easier to hit than both.
* Adoption by Pros – Phil Mickleson started the trend but currently, Tommy Fleetwood, Akshay Bhatia, Adam Scott, Sergio Garcia, Min Woo Lee and Keegan Bradley all utilise mini-drivers in their set up. Arguably, amatuer players stand to gain more from its ease of use.
