Have you ever played a golf course that is not 18 or 9 holes? #golfshorts #shorts #golfer
have you ever wondered why most golf courses are 18 holes well I’m about to tell you so I’m going to take you back to 1764 and the home of gold at St Andrews where the course was played over 22 holes after some redesigning some of the holes were shortened combined the number of holes went down to 18. almost a full Century later in 1858 the RNA published an updated set of rules titled rules for the game of golf as it is played by the Royal and ancient Golf Club at St Andrews and in this set of rules it was stated that one round of links or 18 holes is reckoned a match unless otherwise stipulated now it took a little bit of time but most courses fell into line and made their own venues 18 holes comment what you want to know next

Shiskine in arran is 12 hole course
You should try and get a game at shiskine golf club, a beautiful and quirky course. 12 holes is a nice number of holes
12 hole course down the road from my cottage.
All courses should be 12
Yes, about 40 years ago I played a 6 hole golf course that was scratched out of the side of a mountain in Colorado. The fairways were left natural but cut now and then. The greens were made of hard sand, and to putt you were allowed to flatten your path with the back end of a specially made rake. The cost in the late 70's-early 80's was $3 for 6 holes, $5 for 12 and $6.00 for 18. It is gone now but I have very fond memories of playing there.
I played Blackwaterfoot on the Isle of Arran 30+ years ago.
12 holes.
6 of the holes have tees allowing you to play the hole from a different angle to make the course up to 18.
Lovely wee course with great views.
Backworth Golf Club in North Tyneside, a 9 hole course but there is a second green for playing the 10th hole to start off the back nine
There’s a 6 hole public course in Aberdeen. Just across the Don estuary from Royal Aberdeen. Slight easier too.
Barnbougle in Tasmania has a great little 14 hole course called “Bougle Run”. There are 12 x par 3s & 2 x par 4s & it’s really a lot of fun!
Three Hammers golf course, where I believe you played last summer, is now 15 holes! They have removed the last 3 holes to build an adventure golf course. 17 and 18 were my favourite holes. They have completely ruined a fantastic short course.
A few years ago I played a 6 hole course in Budapest but I think it has since closed.
Played a couple of 12 hole courses.
I’ve played a 3 hole course in Kenya. I arrived to a beautiful clubhouse and was told it was 9 hole course. Three holes later we were back at the start. I enquired as to where we had taken a wrong turn and was told that the course only had 3 holes, but that each hole had 3 tee position, making it a 9 hole course. There was also a shrug of the shoulders and a comment: “well, this is Africa!”
Another vote for Shiskine on Arran. 12 is the perfect number for me!…… until we had a couple of beers at lunch and went and had another 12! 😂 Beautiful island stunning views.
We have a pretty good 12 hole in Petersfield,Hampshire
My local course (Fredericks Peak) is a 10 hole gem. Stop by if you’re ever in the area playing (The Prairie Club, Caprock, Dismal River).
There's a course in Brisbane that has 27 but it's divided into three 9 hole loops.
Werneth low it's in Manchester somewhere, it's 11 holes with the last 7 holes played alongside the first 7 . Absolutely Awful
We have a 14 hole course near us with different tees down 4 fairways to get the 18. Can be havoc when busy
Shiskine – fabulous 12
There's a 12 hole, par 47 course near my dad's house that we play a couple of times a year. Lots of fun and not tiring at all.
How were the names of eagle, birdie, bogey, albatross, etc created for the game of golf?
Why is ot called "right" or "left" handed?
Also, what are the roles of each hand on the club?
If the top hand is the hand that controls the club, why wouldn't any "right handed" person swing "left?"
The first golf hole size originated from a piece of excess salvaged pipe – I need to see this pipe … it’s basically the holy grail 🤣
I’d been playing golf 6 months
And played there! Didn’t know how lucky I was?? The old boys I was playing with said to me you don’t know what you’ve just done!! 3 years later….. ⛳️🧠
FALSE
FACT: There are 18 shots in a bottle of Scotch. When the bottle is empty…the round is done.
Why is the driver called driver?
