Built this sim on a budget. The floor is rubber gym tiles on bottom, then thick insulation foam boards, then this super cheap green carpet crap I got at Lowe's. For what I spent I'm very happy with how it turned it out, except for the floor. The legit putting turf solutions I keep finding are stupid expensive. The problem is, I didn't glue down the carpet, so it shifts under your feet and has wrinkles in it. Not great for putting on or for stability when hitting shots. I dont think it would adhere well if I tried to glue it to the foam board underneath. I've debated swapping the bottom two layers where the carpet sits on the gym tiles and possibly gluing those together. Also considered putting a layer of thin plywood under carpet then gluing it down. Anyone have any experience or suggestions?? Thanks!

I would do what you first said, swap the foam/rubber tiles and put the carpet on the rubber tiles. Should help. If needed, you can also use carpet tape at the corners but you probably won’t need to do that.

I got SynPutt turf delivered from Lowe’s and rolled it out over 1” puzzle foam mats. For putting it is great. It doesn’t move at all on the foam mats.

My only issue is the wear where I stand. There are ghostly footprints there. On my next build I’ll use stance mats along with the turf.

So maybe swapping the layer will improve your situation.

Foam tiles over the boards. They won’t compress with your feet. If they’re textured it will be awkward to get the carpet to stick. Have a sheet of something and lots of weight to get them to set. My grizzly grass is getting a little worn in the stance location.
