Anthony Edwards elevated and hammered. He fears no one and wants all the smoke. What a block by Anthony Edwards. Wow. Edwards didn’t give up on the play. Certainly did not. Oh my god. This guy is going to be one of the three best players in the NBA. Look at his physique. Look at his skill set. Look at everything. His personality. He he in a vacuum is destined to be one of the faces of the NBA. Athletically, he is perhaps the most gifted player in the league. Anthony Edwards. That time he does finish. with the exclamation point and then the Timberwolves come up with the stop. Russell looking to push the pace. Edwards gets around Albert. But there is so much more to Ant-Man. Ants Barry, they’re dead than his physical gifts. Anthony Edwards sniffed out the steel here. Look out. [Applause] Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Anthony Edwards was a multis-port prodigy. I played football, basketball, and baseball. In football, he played quarterback. He also played quarterback and of course running back. too. Probably like 14. I thought I was going to be in the NFL. And was one of the best Pop Warner running backs in the nation by age 10. I used to play baseball when I was young. Yeah, it’d be hot. Really? How good a baseball player were you? I could have went to the MLB. MLB? Yeah. I am not surprised. But his true passion was basketball. Nicknamed Ant-Man by his father, Edwards was a high school sensation, an athletic super freak. Ant routinely wowed spectators with NBA caliber dunks. [Applause] Anthony Edwards fondly recalls those days growing up in Atlanta and the impact that both his mother and his grandmother had on him. Edwards chose the number five to honor his mother and grandmother who both died of cancer on the fifth day of the month. As a junior, Ant-Man led his team to a state championship. [Applause] By the time Edwards was a senior, he was the number one ranked prospect in the nation. The debate for the number one player in the 2019 class recently became a little more interesting. James Wiseman, Cole Anthony, and Vernon Kerry have led that discussion for the past year or so. But now, Anthony Edwards has reclassified into the class, and a number of scouts believe he’s the nation’s best. By season’s end, Ant-Man was averaging nearly 30 points with 10 rebounds a game. [Music] Edwards recently announced that five schools are in the lead for his college commitment. Florida State, Georgia, Kentucky, Kansas, and North Carolina. Anthony Edwards committed to Georgia. But enter this young cat. His name is Anthony Edwards, and he is box office. Freshman on freshman. So, you were very highly touted freshman. As a freshman, Antveraged nearly 20 points, five rebounds, and two assists a game. What stands out most about you is your physicality. I think close to 6’5. What? 225 lbs. Yeah. Been very active on the defensive end. He led all division one freshman in scoring. There it is again. Edwards. He has a chance. They are witnessing the folks getting their phones out, take pictures of Anthony Edwards right now. Anthony, 29 points, 15 rebounds. You had a couple of dunks. We’re used to seeing that for you. stolen away in transition like you’re a monster in show time to see if it was going to be a player one. He’s a tremendous athlete. He can really finish around the basket. After playing just one year with Georgia, team him right here, don’t Edwards with four, Edwards with two. At age 18, for the win, Anthony Edwards entered the NBA draft. Freshman of the year in the vertical lead is over 40. He would be the number one overall selection. The first pick in the 2020 NBA draft, the Minnesota Timberwolves select Anthony Edwards from the University of Georgia. Anthony Edwards with his mother and grandmother with him there in spirit. I have like 30 plus years of Timberwolves PTSD buildup. They’ve had one real franchise player like Hall of Fame level franchise player that can really carry things and that’s Kevin Garnett. Heading to Minnesota and would have to play wearing the number one for the first few seasons. Wood is a good basketball player. He’d be a really nice addition to this Piston team. Edwards gets into the paint. I I love how he’s wired and I think he’s going to be fantastic. Follows with it. 6’8, but they have him listed at 68. Anthony Edwards in Bulldog fight there. What makes a um I think mostly just uh being exciting on the court, having fun, smile. Got to keep the pedal to the metal. It’s one of the things you mentioned in the New Orleans game that you were How about that move? [Applause] Oh, Anthony Edwards put that one on the highlight reel with all the rest. That was a top shot book. He scored seven straight for Minnesota. Make it nine straight for Edwards. Lookouts. There’s his nightly highlight jam. I won’t sugarcoat it. The Timberwolves were a bad team. Edwards. Oh my. Anthony Edwards. The hack was and teenage Anthony Edwards would begin the season coming off the bench. Two hand big boy D. He wanted a foul. But there was no denying his impact each and every time he was on the court and lurks down the lane. After scoring 34 points against the Trailblazers, Ant-Man was inserted into the starting lineup. While the T- Wolves struggled, Ant-Man thrived. Anthony Edwards, elevated and hammered. Each game he’d leave fans with a highlight moment. By the length of McDaniels, Mclofflin into the front court, sends it over to the rookie. And night in, night out. Edwards was a machine. As a teenager, Ant was already one of the most physically gifted players in the league. On the attack and a slam dunk. Wow. Wow. Great charisma, swagger, and ability. He can step back and take the shot, or he can drive using his elite first step and ram it down the defense’s throat. Oh my god, this guy is going to be one of the three best players in the NBA. I mean, if you ask kids who do they want to be, you watch this guy. I want to be I mean, watch every player’s favorite player. Edwards. Oh, Anthony Edwards. Alex can’t fly. That was something else, man. Westbrook has it swatted by Edwards. He was also a highlevel defender. What a block by Anthony Edwards. Wow. Edwards didn’t give up on the play. Certainly did not. The pass down inside of the bucket. The hammer by Edwards. Watch out. Yeah, I appreciate that. After an amazing rookie season that had everyone raving over his game. Expectations for his second year were through the roof. Just turns it over here. Tyrese Hallebertton takes it away from DLO. And then Ant gets it right back. What a spin around Dwarte. The bounce pass for Russell. That was all Ant making that happen for the Warriors. 4 seconds. Ant off the glass. Rattles it in right as time expires. They’d like to change that right now. Edwards and rose to those expectations and elevated his game. Takes it away coast to coast for the dunk. And then the Timberwolves come up with the stop. Russell looking to push the pace. Edwards gets around Albert against the Pacers. Bury their down. Van turned into a true superhero. Edwards with Thompson on him and with his seventh triple of the game. Let’s talk about another teammate of yours, Anthony Edwards. As you all continue to play together, what’s his ceiling, do you think, in this league? as his ceilings, whatever it want, he wants it to be. Final balls is Anthony Edwards. I think the sky’s is the limit for him as talent level speaks for itself. Oh yeah, it down with the windmill hammer. Edwards was now averaging over 21 points a game. Edwards sniffed out the steel here. Look out. Carl Anthony Towns was out most of the season with injury. Anthony Edwards, that was fun. That was fun. So, the Wolves turned to Ant-Man in his second season to lead the way. Edwards, my goodness. I mean, he just cranks this back. The amount of power goodness sniffing out the steel, takes it away, and takes it the distance. During this time, he showed he was more than just a scorer. He was also a leader. Anthony Edwards takes it right into the shot clock. Edwards makes his move, stops. Wow. Yep. Right to the cup for Anthony Edwards. Is that powerful? He has the balance and control to take and more importantly make tough shots from awkward angles. And Anthony Edwards finishes with the left hand and one. His three-point shot became a true weapon in his second season. Edwards immortality from top of the key and has the skill to outmaneuver defenses and the physicality to overpower them. Oh my goodness. Anthony Edwards just hopped up and slammed that one down. Edwards stepped back. three-point try. He hits it. He’s got 32. Edwards steps to the side and hits it again. Against the Spurs, Edwards delivered a then careerhigh 49 points. He got through traffic. It’s unstoppable. An incredible night for the Ant-Man. He closed out the rest of the season with a series of spectacular highlights. Edwards taking the basketball away. He’s got Vanderbilt and Edwards coast to coast. He put his balls on Gay Vincent’s face on the feed and Anthony Edwards showing that in the face. In the face. Wow. Nobody in this building can believe it. Ridiculous. Anthony Edwards just absolutely destroyed Gabe Vincent on that play. Ant led the T- Wolves into the playoffs despite missing Carl Anthony Towns most of the season. In his playoff debut, Anthony Edwards turned in a game for the Edwards connecting on a three. He dropped 36 points against the two seated Grizzlies. Edwards will fire again and hit. [Music] Here is Edwards in his first playoff series. Ant put up 25 points a game. Floats it up and in. pounded plus the foul with three assists and four rebounds all on over 45% shooting for acceleration for the finish plus the foul Edwards step back the T- Wolves were eliminated but the future was bright mid-range is money the confidence just dripping 89 all FedEx for jumping inward slides inside so the question is with Malikica it’s not often you can look at a player and say there is no ceiling. There is no ceiling for this guy. And I say that as far as his own game and where he takes his team. For the first time in forever, the T- Wolves fan base was fired up. The next season, Ant’s game continued to mature. He kicked things off with another incredible posterizing jam. [Applause] Edwards. Make that two more incredible posterizing jams driving. Foul called on the Clippers. Fourth rated high school player and he’s got the fourth most points for a player 21 or under. Look at this. The two are going to the points [Applause] for the first time since Kevin Garnett wore a T- Wolves jersey. Minnesota was headed to the playoffs for a second straight season. That is one festive joint up there right now. Tell you that right now. You know what I mission them players? We need one shot and moment against the eventual champion Nuggets. Edwards continued his extraordinary play. And he does. What a rejection from Anthony Edwards. Now Edwards running the break. Euros and finishes. A sensational two-way highlight. Perhaps the number granted him additional powers because his game went to the next level. He sort of wanted to be more organic. Edwards hanging scoring plus the five. Uh, everyone sort of has accepted that he’s just like this certified star ascending which is great place to be. At just 22 years old, the Minnesota Timberwolves guard nicknamed Ant. Oh, the steel highlights is the most exciting player in basketball. Oh, the windmill. I do not look up to anybody in the league right now. Currently, not at all. Yeah, not the slightest. But um yeah, anytime I step on the court anytime, I feel like it’s it’s no reason they should be talking about him more than me. Oh, get out the way. That is nasty. Against the Pacers, with the game on the line, Ant-Man delivered the game block. up ahead. Nice spin block. Leaping so high his head contacts the rim. Edwards getting up and good night. Already a nightmare for the league. When he reaches his physical peak, we could witness something truly generational. Edwards with the slam.
