we are led to believe the world’s best golfers are all using brand new very expensive Putters to secure their wins however you’ll be shocked at how many affordable Putters have already secured wins in 2025 and on top of all of those Putters I want to answer a bigger question today can you buy a putting game guys how you doing welcome back to a brand new video Simon here SS Golf Academy and we’re going to talk Putters whilst my foot still out of action from that sprain from last weekend however if there’s any good fortune I can talk about when it comes to that injury is that I neglect my putting in my daytoday life anyway but more importantly it seems I’ve neglected Putters alog together when it comes to this channel better now before I talk about what I just did there and it’s going to help so many of you perfect your putting going forward into 2025 and also before we cover the main man that won over the weekend as well that kind of sparked this video idea I think we should talk about elephant in the room which is lab Putters and I have to say I’ve got absolutely no standing to say how good or how not good they are and considering looking at the PJ Club tracker website that is a high proportion of professionals using the lab putter when you consider and kind of what I found fascinating through this whole research of the video is that look at all the different variations of Putters we’re talking Scotty Camerons we’re talking ping we’re talking Taylor Made we’re talking Odyssey everything and everything under the sun old new tour not tour limited edition expensive not expensive and my only thing about lab Putters realistically is obviously number one how expensive they are but for the moment and the hype that’s surrounds them the secondhand price of them do hold quite well these things retail for around 500 pound and just like Scotty Cameron at this moment in time they sell for 400 second hand I’m going to leave it there however one I will be incredibly interested to know in a year two years when potentially the lab putter hasn’t cured some amateure golfers putting woes how many of them then get sold on and then what price will they eventually hit in the secondhand Market or alternatively maybe this is the new answer to Putters going forward and they’re going to always stay at that price and every manufacturer is going to follow suit into their kind of design so I want to put this away and we’ll come back to that in a minute and let’s talk about ludvig and his Versa white hot putter this putter came out in 2023 so near on a year and a bit old and actually one of the newest Putters throughout this entire list however the reason that I was so interested in this putter even though the face insert looks very different from ludvig’s putter opposed to the ones that you’d find in a retail store is that actually when I dived a bit deeper into the white hot Versa range is that actually the typical head Styles like the seven for example that I see go for so much money with the older models because there’s so much of that emotional connection to them popularity hype they don’t really go for that much money I actually looked at a couple in replay store and at the moment they look like they retail for around 150 brand new secondhand £80 90 now my next tour pro uses a ping putter not this old but let’s be honest not that far off I just want to show you these ping G5 Putters I’ll just put them into eBay a putter on eBay is going to go for 3040 hence why I want to show you some of the other Putters through this list because to be honest just like that Versa one with ludvig they’re only double the price maybe another 50 more and I do feel like Putters have come a long way in terms of forgiveness and control from something that was designed back in this day however that didn’t stop Matthew pavon winning last year’s Farmers Insurance in 2024 with a ping Cadence putter I’m going to show you ping Cadence through the whole different head Styles as that’s kind of what I want to show you through this video it’s not necessarily the model and the brand is kind of what head type did they use and why did they use it from that particular era and a lot of it just comes down to just emotional raw attachment that went under pressure that putter then sings to them and as you can see from his particular setup very unique to himself centered shaft in the head still a blade is style even though it’s slightly thicker than a normal bladed putter quite upright in the shaft and from the pictures that I’ve seen online a very well-used and trusted putter again not one of the most recent wins as the other list throughout this video however I did find it quite interesting that a poter that’s this old and obviously is available on eBay at a rather B cost couldn’t necessarily be left out of this list before we go into my other two tall winning Putters that I’ve won incredibly recently and I’m surprised it hasn’t been picked up more this is simply your tip and trick of obviously getting your putting better in 2025 as I used to do this in my bedroom in my flat 40 times a night put a line down the ball put a t 6t away from you along your carpet and I appreciate I didn’t have any of this I didn’t need any of this and regardless the only two goals I really cared about on those 40 putts is that I hit the te and I got a line over line on the ball and even there I know my putting stroke is not anyway as good as it should be slightly reverberating my point is is that after two 3 weeks of doing that 30 40 times a night on a carpet is you’ll find a way to sort out your swing path your Club face your launch angle so your ball then starts going end over end as long as obviously your carpet and your your house is flat and it means that every time you hit a partt on a golf course you’ve hit a good part and if you miss the hole it’s kind of a bad read which is why I moved this mat a minute ago because technically in this room that is straight anything that I moved over let’s say this way away from that straight line is now right to left anything this way to that straight line is now left to right up next is a classic and let’s be honest Taylor made even though this is not quite the same design has been at the Forefront when it comes to these particular head styles for a very long time I’m of course talking about the tailor spider and I’m not talking this new I’m talking about one of the ones that pretty much took over on tour very similar to the way lab is starting to do now Nick Taylor won the Sony open this year not with the spider X or let’s say the newer modernday spiders but the old school ones the 2017 model one one reason that I quite like this going in the video is you can get them for around 100 to 120 which is expensive for the year that they’ve come out this is one of the most expensive Putters in this list but just like Scotty Cameron holding their price incredibly well secondhand so do these and if you look after it keeping its head cover use this poter for two three years it’s forgiving the line on the back of them if you do get the line version is very good and I had this exact putter in my back bag for an incredibly long time I guarantee you you’re not going to lose any money on this putter simply because it’s iconic which brings me onto my least iconic putter through this whole list and the best bit I love about this is that not a single one of you watching this video would have wanted to put this putter in their bag until potentially now now we know Odyssey is simply one of the best when it comes to Putters and very popular amongst let’s say amateur golfers now when they introduced The Stroke lab putter about five six years ago is one of the first ever to put a graphite shaft mixed in with obviously the head and the steel at the bottom but for whatever reason it didn’t necessarily have the same impact in the secondhand market and I even said two years after it came out what Great Value these puts are starting to go for now obviously Odyssey have kept that graphite combination and design with our newer models of PS going forward however the one thing that they didn’t seem to continue with is the Tuttle head design that came with the stroke lab and I could be wrong I’m pretty sure that they haven’t come out with the Tuttle head design they might have similar head designs but they haven’t called it the Tuttle and SE strier won with it at the start of this year his looks incredibly worn and again if you’re looking for this stroke lab Tuttle putter on eBay you’re talking like 70 80 do feel there are certainly more forgiving head Styles out there I certainly think there’s actually scratch that I definitely know there’s better looking Putters out there on the market however if sep goes on to win another eight tournaments this year I’m pretty sure the hype of the tutle putter would start infecting quite a lot of the Golf Community guys if you got any questions on your golf bag or golf game sglf academy.com catch you guys later

Most putters are a total rip off, if you can putt, a brick on a stick will do the job.
There has been three significant changes in putter design and putting technique since the 1950s when most used the brass headed toe-heavy Acushnet “Bullseye” putter or some variant and blade irons with the same curved path -)- as when chipping. If you balance a Bullseye putter on a finger the face will hang vertically ||
The first change was the Anser putter which Karsten Solheim created after realizing the Bullseye putter was so toe-heavy it was twisting his hand and putter face open in the backstroked and then back closed / in the forward stroke. By altering the heel-toe balance of head he was able to get the putter so stay square to the CURVED swing path -)- during the entire stroke on that CURVED inside-square-inside path. There’s no feeling of the putter head trying to twist in the hands with using an Anser style heel-toe balanced putter with a CURVED putting stroke. But if used with the more contemporary straight line <——> putting stroke the heel – toe balance in the head will tend to twist the face open and closed to some degree. If you balance an Anser style putter on a finger the face will be at about a 45° angle // with slight variation between models to match the balance to stay square with different swing arcs. Modern designs have adjustable weights to ‘tune’ the putter to match a golfer’s natural CURVED putting stroke.
The next development was the Mallet style putter where the heel-toe balance is equal. If balanced on a finger it the face will be horizontal ===. This style is designed to be used with a straight back and forward putting stroke <——>. The ‘Catch-22’ is that it is actually more difficult to swing a putter in a straight line unless the butt of the club is kept stationary and it is swung like a pendulum /| —> That led to the development of the extra long putter and the USGA banning anchoring because it made putting too easy! 😂 At least for the pro who can ‘read’ greens.
The third development was the use of polymer inserts in the face of putters. That change came about after the introduction of the ProV1 ball which has a very hard mantle layer under its very thin Urethane cover which causes it to react to impact with a putter much differently than the wound rubber band Balata covered balls the Pros had been using. After the introduction of the ProV1 the % of puts over 10 feet on the pro tour decreased. The soft polymer face on the putter compensates for the harder mantle layer under the cover of the ball which is there to prevent moisture from affecting the performance of the core (according to a video by Titleist about its design evolution).
The takeaway is that a Mallet style putter with a polymer insert face is the easiest to putt with consistently, but only if the person using it is able to swing it on a perfectly straight line <———> which many find difficult to do. If one is more consistent with a -)- curved inside-square-inside stroke then an Anser style putter with a polymer insert face is the better choice with the caveat that ball placement relative to where face squares to stroke line becomes a critical variable not present with a mallet putter. Regardless of putter type you’ll want to use a light enough grip on the putter to feel any tendency for it twisting in the hands during the putting stoke used. 😊
*putters not putter’s
Git Cleveland Elvado #11, milled face, premium grip, very good build quality…. £110 NEW. Works well as nothing I've tried including Scotty Camerons…
They always use expensive putters especially if they're old!
All of my gear is old. Odyssey 2 ball SRT from 2006 in my bag.
If LAB putters are so good, why are they being sold second hand?!?
Replaced a horribly overpriced Bettinardi with a “cheap” Odyssey white hot #9. The Odyssey isn’t going anywhere.
Still using my Odyssey 2Ball putter given me in 2002. Nothing beats it for me.
Because golf marketing is on another level and people still havent realised yet its a bit of metal on a stick. Especially a putter everything that can be done with a putter has been done before .
If you want to change your putter every week, buy a £600 pound LAB, or even use one that you found in a skip, go ahead it's a free country!
I'm using a £60 Odyssey 7 which has probably won numerous majors but I'll probably bin it when i need something to blame my next run of three putts on.
Taylormade TP Del Monte is the best bang for buck putter
Ping PLD mallet was a big investment but it’s amazing.
🧡I found a discolored dirty but not dinged up beryllium, Ping answer with a sound slot in great shape minus the dryrotted grip at Goodwill for $2.99 after some cleaning and brasso and a new corded mid sized ping grip so all in $40 dollars best putter ever!!!…
I use a Scotty Cameron Newport 2 for 25 years. Ive re-gripped it a few times. Still love it. Will never change.
As an indian i always believed it was called as put ter.
I use Wilson infinite putter $140 love it! Prefer it over my oddessey
My dad uses a putter he got 50 years ago from Raleigh cigarette tickets. It looks like a miniature golf putter and he is the best putter I’ve seen in real life.
I have had the same Odyssey White Hot for 25 years.
Just watched this video after I put the stroke lab Tuttle in my bag over the weekend , what a coincidence 😂
Picked up a Yes C groove mallet with a super stroke grip for £30 its been un believably good to me
I have a Taylor Spider putter that I’ve been playing with for the past 10 years. Played a round of golf at my bachelor party, forgot my putter, and used my in laws that he just bought from the pro shop at the course. I loved it, he didn’t, and I ended up rescuing it from the dumpster that my in law was about to throw it into.😂
