All right, everyone. Welcome back to the Tea Time tribe. We are a group of Florida State University alumni who decided to take our group texts and turn into this podcast. Week in and week out, we will be discussing all things golf from PJ Tour events to our own personal experiences. Before we start and get into the meat and bones of PJ Championship, as Florida State alums, I need to give a shout out to our men’s and women’s golf teams. I know the men’s golf team won their regional over at Legacy in Tallahassee. Luke Clinton also was medalist. I believe they’re playing in this weekend out in California. The girls certainly are. And the girls are playing right now. Yeah. Florida State women’s team, I believe, is going to make match play. I think they’re fifth right now finishing up. So, we’ll see how they do over the next couple of days. But good to see our teams playing well. And I’m sure we’ll we’ll be seeing and hearing a lot of Luke Clinton in the coming years as well. All right. So, PJ Championship. I feel like this is just repeating week after week. Scotty Sheffller just another win, another major. Brings in a lot of questions on will he get the career grand slam this year. But what are initial uh takes away from from the PGA? [ __ ] Jaws, dude. He’s just there. He’s there all day, every day, just lurking, ready to come up and just ruin ruin lives. I [ __ ] love it. Yeah. I want to give him a quick uh acknowledgement that a couple weeks ago when he won in Texas, he shot a 63 on Sunday and he blew everyone away from the get-go, but this week on Sunday, his front 90 has a 37 going uh going out. So, it was like it’s anyone’s game. It was it was it was a little entertaining there for like an hour. Um you know, and then uh people started unravel and it was steady Eddie on the back and an exclamation point on the round towards the end. As the round goes on, the holes get harder. He didn’t care. It was just it was steady Eddie on the back. I think he mentioned after the round someone asked him like you know he looked at his caddy Ted Scott and was like I think it was on nine he laced one left but he looked at Ted he was like I hit that really good and Ted just looked at him and was like you were aimed that way. Why don’t you aim it straight and it won’t go left and it won’t go in the rough. So it’s like mid round the ninth hole he kind of like this this kind of gave him epiphany and you know it was all over after that. Um you know because he definitely had a rough start to his his front nine on Sunday. Yeah, I mean Jaws is the perfect analogy and like I mean the he’s doing the interview and I think the first thing out of his mouth was yeah, you know, I didn’t really have my best stuff. It’s just like Jesus, you know, uh he doesn’t have his best stuff, but he’s still better than everyone in the world. Yeah, just another dominant performance. I think it really started Saturday, right? He finished what five under of the last four on Saturday, was it? And just kind of, you know, took the wheels from there and didn’t look back, you know. John Rom, you know, kind of made it interesting for a minute that we were tied for one hole and then and then it just turned into the Scotty Sheffller show again. You know, gota got to thank him. Had a little Hard Rock bonus bet, some cash in my pocket. Thank you, Scotty. Feel like I’m saying that a lot, but hey, you know, if it’s not broke, don’t fix it. But yeah, I mean, dominant from Scotty saying that he doesn’t have his best stuff, which is scary for everyone else on the field. And then I think we got like one of those great picture moments of him in the towing up his scorecard with his kid out there that you know he’s got his hat, the scorecard, he’s looking back the whole thing. Such an awesome photo. Such an awesome moment for Scotty, their whole family. Um, but I think the the big story and Ian, I’ll kick it back to you. The big names missing cuts. I mean, that’s really the talk of the weekend. And you know, Ian, where do you think those guys go from here? It’s rough. It’s a rough second uh second major of the year. I honestly can’t get over how well this tournament played out. It was funny thinking about thinking about watching that front nine. To your point, Johnny, he made it he made it interesting. Basically, on some level, a hot take on some level. If you want to talk about mind games, if he is playing any mind games or if he even has to play mind games, I feel like he was doing that just to like dangle it. You know, the guy the old fishing commercial like, “Oh, you’re so close.” Yeah. Oh, you almost got it that time. You almost got it that time. Felt like that’s what he was doing. The whole front nine kind of baiting guys to go for it, right? To like push themselves that extra little bit to go for go for the pins that they probably shouldn’t be going for or just press their putter forward a little bit more than they normally do to give it a little bit more more juice to try to try to make it versus lag it. And if he did, obviously he didn’t need to to win by that many strokes at the end of the day. But God, it was it was it was fun watching fun watching it. But this this tournament really the Quill Hollow did a I I personally I think Quill Hollow did a really good job of I go back to this. What was it at the CJ CJ Byron Nelson? Yeah, I know. Thank you. But just setting up riskreward holes. I personally I really enjoyed how much you got penalized if you didn’t get a good bounce. If you go for it, if you go for a green and you don’t hit a perfect shot on a par4, right, you should get penalized. And those those bunkers were deep. Uh the rough was the rough was brutal. And I think that’s why a lot of those guys that weren’t driving the ball well on Thursday and Friday missed the cut. I think they’re going to have a lot more chances these next few weeks uh to get themselves in a contingent for the next one. But but yeah, it was it was fun seeing some of the big names struggle. I think it’s one of the things we’ve always talked about is like is it fun watching them struggle? And I think it’s a consensus here that, you know, it just makes a little more like, hey, they’re they’re one of us. I know we’ve said that a couple times in our in our group text, but uh just kind of quickly going back to Scotty. I think for me he he made bohe on one, bounces back with birdie on two, and he kind of got the feeling like, okay, he was just kind of getting the the rust off, I guess you could say, a little bit of the round, and then he he doesn’t necessarily, you know, turn it up, make those birdies. I think he ended up making two more before he made the turn, so he was two over on the front. And then he just then he was like, “All right, now now it’s go time. Now it’s time to to put it on.” And I found a stat here that he made bogeier worse 10 times this week. and he responded with a birdie on the next hole six of the 10 times. Wow, that’s impressive. Yeah, quick bounce back. And no, no other player on the field was above 500. So, it’s just one of those like stats of Scotty where it’s just like how do you how do you compete? Yeah, you don’t. It’s like in teams don’t lose two in a row. He doesn’t have two bad holes in a row, you know? It’s uh it’s like Rah’s finish. You know, he was five over in the last three holes on Sunday and he just unraveled so so quickly. I mean, you don’t get that with with Scotty. At least we haven’t seen it yet. But before we put a pin on this this major, I’d like to dub it the mudball major. We can’t forget about the mudball controversy on uh Thursday. A lot of people had a lot of things to say. Even Scotty himself, you know, was impacted by it on uh on Thursday. What are what are our thoughts on mudballs? Um do we need to, you know, is it pick and play? You know, able to clean it off in certain conditions? What do we think here? I I don’t I I personally didn’t quite understand it. I I don’t if it’s like a do we do it or we not do it like just just go ahead and let them live clean in place. I I don’t I I don’t see why you would put them through that. I mean, yeah, sure, they’re the best players in the world and they should be able to to deal with it, but at the end of the day, like it got to a point where all the players were frustrated and the top players in the world were frustrated and rightly so. I I think it was a bad call. It it makes a difference. I don’t I don’t know if you guys have watched any of those super nerdy YouTube videos about how much how much mud or just not having a clean ball or or having scuffs uh uh on on your golf ball makes a difference in the flight of a golf ball. It could anything over a 100red yards, especially when you start approaching 150 and 200 yards, that ball could veer 10 to 15 yards off from where it it’s supposed to be going depending on where that ball is on the depending on where the mud is on the ball. So, I agree. The child is definitely definitely the mud ball open that we uh if you’re in if you’re in the fairway, you should be able to lift clean in place if there’s even a question for it to be raining 5 days straight before before this tourney started. They knew these conditions were going to be bad. And I know it’s the PGA. It’s supposed to be the purest the purest form of of the game, right? and in the hardest the hardest elements. But that’s not that’s not a part of the game that I think needs to be put on display to say, “Oh, I 15 yards left because the ball was cuz the mud was on on the right side of my ball, so when I came through it, I thought it was going to move 15 yards and it actually only moved five.” That’s not playing this. I want to see somebody shape a shot. If they’re in the fairway, you deserve to take a shot at the green to get to a to get close to a pin that you can now challenge. Couple things that I wanted to kind of bring up to the to the group here. Well, going back to Sky just really fast before we do that. I saw a couple of crazy stats that I’m going to just on the interwebs that I’m going to share. I’m doing it from memory because I was just looking I can’t I couldn’t find them, but I think it was since 2022, Scotty has three miscuts, three majors. Insane statistic. Mhm. And then I don’t know what the numbers are, but Scotty has more wins in the state of North Carolina than the Carolina Panther NFL team has wins in the state of North Carolina. It was uh it was all it was like his alltime wins. Yeah. Like he has it’s like his 15th win last like three or four years and they have 14 wins the last three. Yeah. So it’s it’s still impressive either way. Insane stuff from Scotty. Just hilarious. It’s insane. It’s like, you know, there’s a million of those kind of tiger stats that are like that. I just feel like he Scotty’s going to start accumulating more and more of these that you just go, that’s [ __ ] insane. But one thing I did want to bring back to one thing that we’ve talked about on a couple of prior episodes, quote unquote gimmick holes, you know, uh, and so we were sitting there watching, I think Sunday number 14 played 330 yards as a par4, you know, just it almost felt like if it wasn’t a birdie, you were giving up, you were giving a stroke. Um, especially heading into 16, 17, 18. Um, you know, Ian, you kind of were saying, you know, it rewarded good shots the course. I don’t know. I don’t know how I really felt about it. You know, I just it kind of just felt if you hit a good drive, you had a chance at Eagle, you know, kind of I don’t want to say easy cuz of course it’s not easier said than done, right? But for this type of event, I think I could have done without it if I’m being entirely honest. It’s Did you Yes. And yes and no, Jason. I I agree that the hole could be seen from the the naked eye, like from just a regular regular viewer’s perspective, it being uh gimmicky, but if you look at the subtleties where the where the green was, and there was a bowl that was uh that was just to the front right of the green. And if you if you didn’t challenge with either a fade over over the tree line or a draw to bring it in onto the green there, which there was water left, too, if you if you went left, but anything just to the right of the of the line of the green, you were going to hit this little uh bowl and go right into the bunker. And then you had to hit a anywhere between depending on where the pin placement was a five 5 to 25 yard bunker shot to a pin again that had water behind it. So yes, I agree from like from a baseline perspective 330 yards is nothing for these guys and it was also downhill. So it played even less than that on most of these days. But they the Coil Hollow did a good job with those. I felt like they did a good job on like a little bit of the subtleties there for shooting the golf balls off if they weren’t on a perfect line. Yeah, I agree with you. And yeah, it was a it was a tough target. It was a tight target. If you miss it right, there’s the rough there. And there’s pretty much a nonzero chance that you’re getting a There it is. that you’re going to have a flat lie, you know, pitching into that green if you miss right. Um with not a lot of green to work with. It was a tough hole. I I thought it was a fair fair course for the four rounds. Scotty my 12, but I think next someone else was second place. I think it was like a jumble tie for a second. It was like my six or my seven. We had a bunch of people. Yeah, it was it was a five it was a five shot victory that almost at times didn’t feel like five shots, right? Yeah. Yeah. Exactly. Uh much better than last year. I saw a great post, which definitely got to give credit where where credit’s due here. So, I’ll pull up the the actual uh uh the actual link to it. So, it was no Yeah, from the no laying up guys that had had the question if you had to had to put the money line at how many total majors after seeing this Scotty win over his career. Not not this year because obviously we’ll talk about that later. Over his career, how many how many majors do you think? Where would you put the line at even money? I think I might go like six. That feels low. Yeah, it does feel low. I just I don’t know. Like yes, he’s Scotty. Yes, we’ve seen him do this over the last few years, but like major wise, I I I don’t I just I haven’t seen I haven’t seen that. Probably a good question. I don’t know. I I need to see more. I think if you ask me that after the open um and the US Open this year, I might have a different answer. He’s 28. I’m going to go cuz I foresee him I could see him not necessarily retiring but cutting back his schedule a lot by the time he hits, you know, 40 just because he’s a he’s a big family guy. See him I wouldn’t be surprised if they have, you know, a lot of kids and that’s what he wants to spend time with. I see the overunder at seven and a half. I’m gonna say I think he can win like two more masters. He clearly loves Augusta. Think he wins there two more times. I think it’s one US Open. Maybe it’s in a couple weeks the way he’s been playing. I don’t think he’s he’s going to win much more than one of those. Gets lucky with the gets left the British Open and then maybe another PJ. So I mean that’s like five more. So that gets you right at that eight mark. I think there’s going to be the new wave of young kids that are going to come through over the the next years. It’s going to be a much more competitive field, too. You know, it’s all it’s all depend on his health, too, obviously. So, nothing no crazy injuries or anything like that. Um, I think seven and a half actually may even be kind of low, too. JC, what do you got? I in my head I kind of thought 10 and then I was thinking, well, Tiger’s at 14, right? So, then I was like, okay, maybe 15 one short of Jack. So, I think if you asked to over number over under for Scotty, I I would put the line at 10 and a half. Did you Did you see the post from from no the no laying up guys? Is that what they said? So, I I’m biased because they they obviously what they said on their on the podcast, which who knows if this is actually true or not. They reached out to uh if it was either uh FanDuel or DraftKings. They literally wrote messaged them to ask them what the line was and they said the they’ll they’ll have it uh they’ll have it up uh hoping to have it up within the next day or so, but they put the line at nine and a half. Wow. Even money even money for Scotty for the for his for future future majors odds. So God, that’s gonna stay on your account for so long. That’s it’s an open bet for the next decade. Literally 2035 it’s still open, you know, like when when does that close? Does it close when he dies? What? Yeah. I don’t know. Fair point. Yeah. Yeah. They they did not talk about that, but added twist there. We’ll we’ll start our own Deadpool for majors. Uh but I I I do you you brought up a point that I didn’t think about, John. Uh cuz you’re you’re right. I do see him being a quote unquote more of a family man, but the kid just loves the game. He loves playing and he when you hear him talk about just his his money games on on the weekends when he’s not when he’s not on tour playing playing at his home country club, giving guys 20 strokes at a time. Like it’s it’s tough not to believe he’s going to get at least into the double digits. I’m I’m I’m with you on that. I’d take the over on on nine and a half. uh if he does cut his career short, John, like you’re talking about at something like 40, which is crazy to think about. We’re already talking about him retiring at 40 because of how much he’s won, but I think he’d be right on the number. I put him right on the number if he if he ends at 40. I can see him scaling back his events. Like I I do agree with you, but like and sorry I don’t know who to give credit to, but someone put together like the sound bit of him daddy in his press conferences and it’s just him saying, “Yeah, you know, I just like to compete like at every single event.” He’s just he’s a competitor. So I just I don’t know if like I I agree and I don’t agree. You know, I think he’s still going to want to be out there and he right now is the best in the world by a lot in my opinion. Also, that Nike ad, greatest player of all time, guilty. So good. It was just so good. It’s like It’s like you said, Jordan, they never miss. They don’t miss, man. It was so good. Someone Yeah. Someone tweeted out that uh it was a missed opportunity for Jim Nance from jail to jail. Yeah. Would have nailed it. God. Oh, good. Well, while we’re on the while we’re on the subject of Scotty, this brings in question. We were talking about Rory at Masters. He finally got his career grand slam. We were talking about speed possibly getting his career grand slam at the PGA. Now with Scotty getting the PGA, this this brings into question. I think rightly so he could complete the career grand slam this year. What are our thoughts? What do you think the odds should be on that? 251 25 to1. I don’t know. I could see cuz it’s two it’s two more majors. US Open is going to obviously be tough. And then he’s, you know, the British Open is just a completely different beast. And it’s in uh where is it? It’s a Port Rush. Port Rush. Yeah. Northern Ireland. That’s all weather dependent too. Like really really weather dependent. Um because they they play anything over there. Over here we get rain. They’re like, “Oh, we’ll pick it up when it stops.” Over there it’s 354 mph sustained winds. It’s coming in every different direction on every hole. They’re like, “Nope, get out there and play.” So, that’s a big question mark. I don’t I think he’s more of a, you know, I’m on American soil. I’m going to win more. I know he won the gold medal in Paris. Um, but I don’t I don’t think he wins the British. I’ll say it right now. I think he’s going to be the heavy heavy favorite at Oakmont. Um, and he has a very very good chance of winning there because his game’s shaping up nicely and his wedges, if his wedges are on, that’s what DJ did in 16. drove it long and he just mashed it out of the out of the rough and ran away with it. So Scotty could do something similar. Yeah, I I’m actually gonna I’m I’m gonna go reverse on you here, John. I’m gonna go, John. Oh, here we go. Yeah, I think I’ve done so well the last six weeks. I uh I think there’s there there there may be too many too many guys that have really enjoyed playing Oakmont over the past few years that that have that may feel like they have that confidence that they come into the week with for him to win that one. But you look at a guy like Spith back in his heyday coming from Texas. The reason why he what he what he hung his hat on, hung his cap on for why he was able to play in those type of conditions was from Texas, right? Texas has those winds. Texas has those type of really shitty conditions. Now, it’s not it’s never that cold, but which is a different factor to play into it. But those type of sustained winds really the only other place that you’re getting that is is Texas here here in the States as sustained as that or if you’re in Oregon, but I don’t even I can’t tell you the last PJ tour player to come out of Oregon. So, yeah, I I would go I would go with the Open. I think the US Open’s going to be a tough one for him just with the with the stacked field. But question for you guys too is what if he does win the US Open, does that start to bring on even more of the tiger effect? Cuz I I I can already see that I can already see the snowball already. You look at someone like John Rom, everybody at the top, even Dambo was flustered right now. Whether whether he says that it was his own psyche or his own swing that did that, there’s there is some percentage nonzero% chance that that was that was the tiger effect, right? if he’s in the field, if Scotty’s in the field, your mind has got to get [ __ ] at some level, right, of saying he’s there. And not only is he there, he’s in the lead right now. So, what do you guys What do you guys I fully believe that. Go ahead. I I completely agree. I mean, if you’re in the lead and Scotty’s two back, you know, you’re scoreboard watching there. You just have to be and you that conservative approach maybe you were thinking of taking, you know, I don’t know anymore. I fully think there is a tiger effect for Scotty. I do. And just cuz I didn’t touch on the the grand slam for him. I mean, I think we would all agree it’s a matter of when, not if, when he gets all four majors. But I do think he’s going to have a hard time at the US Open. Just to piggyback your point, Ian, the field is going to be brutal. I I hope, you know, we see guys like Colin Moria play a little bit better, find his game a little bit. I mean, Oper just had a rough two days out there, but I think he’s a name that a lot of people are going to have their eye on. I mean, it’s a it’s a long list. I mean, Bryson is going to be a big factor. You know, it’s a big list of names. That said, Scotty is still the top of that list. Um, but he’s going to whoever’s going to win that event is going to have to be pretty damn close to perfect. So, again, it would be awesome if he pulls out a W at the US Open, get a lot of people talking. Um, be great for the game. We’ll see. We’ll see how the next couple weeks go, how he’s trending. But again, as far as, you know, Grand Slam, it’s a matter of when. Um, for him, not if. Um, but but to answer your other question, yes, I fully believe in the the tiger effect. And I kind of I want to see it happen. I want to see him four back heading into Sunday. Five back heading into Sunday. He makes a couple of putts. The c the roar of the crowd. Let’s see how someone at the top handles it. I would love to see it. Sorry, John, I kind of cut you off. No, I was just gonna make a quick point that um I think it was Marty Smith who interviewed Tony Feno earlier before the PGA um championship and Tony Feno basically just told him like, you know, I’m speaking on behalf of all the players here, but we all think it’s Scotty like every week when he’s in the when he’s in the field. So, I don’t know if they have like a group chat that Scotty’s not in and they’re just talking about like oh [ __ ] he’s uh can he’s in the uh he’s in the field this week. So, I think it’s you know they’re thinking the same thing we’re thinking that you know if he’s in the field it’s it’s going to be an issue and he’s the he’s the one to beat no matter what. I think I fully agree. I think it’s it’s creeping to that tiger effect status. My only thing, and this might just be because his last two victories was what, five this fivestroke victory at PGA and what it was eight at CJ. So, this might just be because of those last two victories, but it’s almost like you need to see him, like Jordan was saying, kind of go toe-to-toe. Maybe not even coming from behind, but maybe just like someone going hole for hole with him for like that final round to to kind of like I guess for me that would be the tipping point really to say like all right he he went toe-to-toe. He was making birdies left and right while someone else is making birdies left and right playing the same group kind of and I just looked this up. It was kind of like you know that how Tyra was in his prime the gasp you heard when he gave up that 2009 PJ with Yang. It’s like it’s like reminiscing of that of like for me it has to get to that point where he’s going toe to toe and always dominating not just like these blowouts but kind of got to say back to you Berg is it it’s happened a little bit at this event. I mean he him and Rom are tied at nine under on the 10th green. I think Scotty’s on 10 and John’s on 11 and Scotty Birdie’s 10 to go to 10 under. I mean, obviously Rahm blows up, so you know, the whole it doesn’t really happen all the way down the stretch, but he’s got a three strong three-stroke lead. All of a sudden, he’s tied going into the back nine, and then he just makes a birdie on 10, no sweat. He was he was up by five. Yeah. I mean, I would have liked to have seen it more, but he’s he’s done it. He felt it a little bit. He wasn’t he wasn’t in Rom. I I would have loved to have seen what happened if Rom was in the last group with him, though, as in he’s Okay. seeing he’s seeing Rom hit these shots on on the front nine, right? Where where Rahm is actually charging at him, right? And he let’s say Rom uh because I think Rom went what? Three under four under the front nine. Had a really good had a really good front nine versus Scotty who bogeies three out of the first nine, right? And only has one birdie on the front nine. So now your butt kind of clinches, right? Because now you’re feeling blit, you’re feeling it, right? And you get get to number 10. Does he make does he make birdie on number 10 to kind of even even those nerves out? I I don’t know because to your to your you guys’ point, we haven’t really seen him quote unquote pull pull out that domination card with with somebody in that final group. Yeah. And to your point, no, with all due respect to Alex Norin, he’s not really to to Scotty and that and he’s coming off of injury. Yeah. And he’s coming off an injury. Yeah. I thought I thought all things considered, Norm played really well. Yeah. What do you have? He made seven out of eight up and downs out of the bunker on Saturday. So like those are those are some incredible incredible stats. But yeah. All right. I think one of the the last things I think we need to discuss, which was discussed earlier in our group text, our good friend Wendom Clark. I don’t I don’t even know what to say to that. I I just keep replaying that happy Gilmore scene of kick him off the tour Doug just because he’s I I just don’t like the guy. But yeah, man. His thing that really really irked me was, you know, obviously he he chucked it backwards, snapped the head off. He picked up the shaft and he also he kind of just like Kobied it over to the side like that. He couldn’t even be bothered to pick it up like throw it away. Gave it to an official to throw away. That was just like to me just like the ultimate like f you to all the volunteers who were there. I mean these guys are actually these volunteers are probably paying to be there to volunteer at this tournament and he can’t be bothered to throw it away. He kind of just chucks it off to the side like he is above everyone in this field. Um and then yeah I think he was and we talked about this apology. I mean it’s just it’s it’s too little too late man. You had your run and I know and he’s been very open and very vocal about um his struggles with mental health. So, um, you know, I think he needs to, with all all due respect, needs to get back in the lab with, um, his psychiatrist and his his therapist because that’s that was that was honestly dangerous. I mean, if he hits someone with that, that’s assault with a deadly weapon. Like, that’s a felony. I’m sorry. Like, I’m not trying to even be funny. That’s just his what he what he did there, you know? Be an adult and throw it in front of you or throw it in the water like we all do. Yep. I think she’s a she’s a sports psychologist. Julie Julie Elon. Eleon need to get back in there with with her. Yeah. Sports psychologist on his mental game. That’s the That’s the problem when you That’s also why I think that I never get away from golf. you can be doing the same exact things or feel the exact same way that you did a couple years prior and you’re in the you feel like you’re in the same mental state that you win the US Open and uh and now you’re chucking your chucking your driver at a club behind you and the PGA championship this year. Uh yeah, he thinks it’s time to get back into the lap for sure. Yeah, just echo the same thing you boys just said and just the it was just a little bit of a skin mark, you know, if you will on a on a really great event. you know, the the PGA guys, all the all the volunteers, everyone that kind of put together such a great four days, you know, and it didn’t get the media coverage, you know, which rightfully so. Like, let’s not highlight this one thing that happened, you know, like you said, Johnny, you know, he’s got some some mental health stuff, so not going to really go there with him, but yeah, just I’ll be the third guy to say it. Back to the lab. Julie’s going to start paying charging to double, so you better start winning some events. And just to kind of wrap wrap up the PGA, did any of our bets hit at all? I know our our twoart parlays was terrible, but did anyone at all hit their top 20 bet for the race? Hat. No, we did not. Not the point, John. Hey, we had a chance. That’s all I’m saying. In our the one where we all picked someone like plus 4,000 or like the, you know, super long shot, whatever. I believe I had Adam Scott. You did. You did. Very. That was really the only thing that I had going. It was looking pretty, not the whole thing. It was looking pretty decent. Homo had a good, you know, couple first two rounds. Tom Kim had a good first round. Adam Scott obviously did well. And then who was the fourth of Gary Woodland? Mhm. Say, three out of four had a little You know who did finish top 20 though, John? Your boy Aaron Ry. It’s my guy, man. I don’t want to pick him too much, but I’m I’m I’m putting him out there. I’m, you know, he’s uh Yeah. Check back with me in a few minutes for this week’s picks. All right. So, be any other final thoughts on PJ Championship? I love you, Scotty. Beam me up, Scotty. Before we get over to this week’s event, the Charles Schwab challenge uh at Colonial Country Club, I did see a kind of interesting video on social media that I was curious your guys take and it was charity golf outings and people shooting stupid low numbers. I know we usually have like our probably around 60s in those events, but like this I I saw one that was like 45 or 48 or something like that and like they were they were kind of going back and forth like they wanted to be like there’s no [ __ ] way that could happen but then it’s also like a charity event so you don’t really want to be that person. What are your thoughts on those kind of events, those scrambles events where you’re there to have fun, but at the end of the day, there’s a little bit of competition and some team like that that are scrubs that you can clearly tell don’t play well shoot that kind of score. Not much that you can do other than like a a T3 uh playoff. So, that’s what I’ve that’s what I’ve seen to try to combat it. You put I I would hope in any type of charity event you wouldn’t have more than one team that that’s a jackwagon like that jack wagon team. So you put one maybe two other teams that are actually recording their actual score and you put them against that one team in a playoff hole. Make it a par4 so you can’t get lucky on a on a on an iron shot getting close, right? But that would be my my take that idea. I think that should be for every single one because you are seeing way too many like 10 shot deltas on these and it’s just like that if being an adult if you’re going to cheat don’t make it that obvious. Okay. like right right oh my god it’s it just it bothers me and it’s for charity so I mean as long as you know you’re paying your freight to you know be in there but still like put up like a three or four group you know final hole like the first hole or whatever where it’s close to the clubhouse so everyone can see you know especially that opening T-shot that’s where you’re going to figure it out like oh he rolls one off to the left he rolls one off to the right no gimmicks straight up best ball and hole um and that will hopefully I mean that’ll probably nine out of 10 will negate, you know, these 30. I saw 36 on the interwebs the other day. 36. So, no way. Two on every hole average. So, that means every par three was a hole. Was that handicapped? Eric, do you think I really looked into everything into it? I don’t know. Probably to get to that score. Probably. Yeah. That’s what I’m saying. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That’s stupid. We have got to put a three or four team final hole. And that that’s honestly like a that that’s entertaining in and of itself, too. you know, you’ve got like the other, you know, however many teams watching you for one hole. So, yeah, I love that idea. Yeah, I like that idea a lot. My idea was just give them a lot of side eye at the uh buffet at the end at the end of the round and just a lot of dirty looks. Your idea is a lot better. Yeah, I remember I remember at one of the clubs I worked at, they used to have the the men’s club or no, the men’s member guest, they used to have flighted tears and the winner of each flight at the end of the competition would go have a horse race and there’ be just eight groups going down 18. Everyone else, you know, around the green and it was unbelievable. So, I I think that’s a an interesting take to do on those events. That’s right. Right here. That’s right there. Did you win me guess? We did not win the horse race. We got cut. We got cut after the second hole, but it was it was fun nonetheless. And the horse race is an absolute [ __ ] [ __ ] show to your point. There’s just there’s like 20 carts following these these like four or five groups all just huddled behind them just giving them the most [ __ ] I’ve never I’ve never I’d say I’d never felt that kind of pressure, but I was also smashed by that point, so I didn’t really feel much pressure of anything. But yeah, it was it was definitely worth it. That’s a good way to do it. Well, let’s hope uh us four can be in one of those events soon. Heck yeah. All right, Charles Schwab challenge this week. Colonial Country Club. I saw that uh another Florida State guy, John Pac, is uh is in the field this week. Nice. Heck yeah. I think he played like nine holes or something like that with with Luke Clinton, too. So, he might be worth a top 20 bet, maybe. We’ll see. What are What are our thoughts on this week’s event? Surprised to see Scotty playing. I am, too. hometown. Yeah. I mean, it’s it’s uh it’s in Fort Worth, so he’s a Dallas guy, so it’s I guess no no money out of his pocket for travel or anything like that. So, he’s like, I guess I’ll play. I can drive from my house. And I’m plus 250. So, yeah, I’m going to go play, I guess. Who did I have? I like So, it’s he’s plus 250. The next best odds are speed at 20 plus 2200. So, there’s just a giant gap. Yeah. I mean, it’s it’s a it’s kind of a weak field, but our boy Tommy Fleetwood, Mr. Make the Cut and T20, T30s in there. Davis Riley won last year. He’s plus 5,000 and he played really well this week. Um, Quail Hollow, he was in that he was in the tie for second, you know, that grouping there. So, another guy I think plus 5,000 seems a bit crazy considering he won last year. He’s come off a good week. So this is this is also going to be one of those weeks where a lot of guys who played yesterday this weekend in Quail are going to be tired. I mean it’s a major people are going to be mentally physically exhausted. So this is going to be one of those I have a feeling it’s going to be one of those weeks where it’s just the leaderboard’s going to be a lot of guys who you know maybe didn’t make the cut of quail or didn’t play at all and they’re they’re fresh weaker field. So is this is this the week? I think this is a pretty short course so it’s kind of getable for for anyone. Yeah, I’m I’m gonna I’m looking I’m looking at guys like like Abata. Uh I’m looking at Tom Kim, another good one at plus 8,000. He’s at plus 7,000. Can get in. I saw him too. He did. I guess yeah, he has his card so he could play. Yeah. Yeah. Hasn’t lost that yet. Uh, and Jake Knap, I I think I think Knap could have a Nap could could have a chance. Don’t Don’t sleep on him. Well, yeah. To to your point, John, when you were talking about the odds for for Scotty, just for the on the winner side of things, I’m looking at the top 20 right now, he’s minus 700 to finish top 20. The next closest guy, the next closest guy is our boy Daniel Burgerer at even at even money. Hey. All right. Let’s go burger. Yeah, let’s go burger. All right. That’s an ins That’s insane. What a joke. Do we uh What’s the odds for Scotty not to make it not make the cut? I don’t I don’t know if they do that on non events. They won’t even give you those odds. I can I can give you odds on who the winner of the event will be without Scotty in the field. U all right. Well, I’ll shall we do the uh shall we do the tribe bet? Hold on. I’m seeing Scotty to make the cut. No is plus 900. Hey, emotional let down. Who knows? Everyone goes low and he We were close when we were talking about this last week for the PGA. We were close. So close. I don’t know. He could he could just, you know, kind of roll out of bed literally and just get up there and shoot a couple of, you know, go even round one and then like a 68 and miss it by strokes. I don’t know. If if you want good odds on Scotty right now, you have to take him at 75 to1 to make a hole in one. All right. It’s probably the only place you’re gonna you’re going to get him to think decent. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You’d have to parlay him with something else. Get real exotic. Yeah. Bonus golf. If there will be a playoff, you can get that at plus 350. Hey, hasn’t been a playoff in a couple events, but I think we’re due. That’s true. That’s true. This could This could be the week. Yeah, this could be the week. It could be Kurt Kadyama and Andrew Novak in a playoff on on Sunday. It’s what the what the world needs right now. All right. I just went in on on to uh to go to a playoff. It’s such an open field. You you can’t stay away from that bet. I can’t It’s like It’s like playing It’s like playing craps. Like you’re just like there’s no way this number can’t not hit. It’s a six. Like it’s got to hit. It’s got to hit at sometime. Really the only odds if you want to put Scotty in play is first round leader you can get him at plus 900 plus 900. Yeah that’s crazy. He’s got him at plus 1,200. Yeah, of course they do. Next best next best would be Burger at plus 3,000. So a major major drop there. Yeah, I don’t know where I’m going to go with this uh this top 20 pick here, boys. I don’t know who who wants to lead us off here. I’m ready as I’ll ever be. There you go. Love it. This is the uh the tribe one. I’m gonna go T20 JT Poston. The Postman. Had a good week. Good week at Quail. Let’s keep the Let’s keep the momentum going here. All right, I’ll go. I’m going to go with my boy uh boy Ash Bata. Okay, I like it. We’ve picked him before and he’s let us down. Don’t say Hideki. Don’t say Hideki. How do we feel about Top Gun, boys? Whomever. McNeely. Yeah. Oh, I like that. I like that. He’s my pick. I’m okay with my pick. Okay. All right. I’m going to round it out here. This is purely off of his reaction to his hole in one. Shaking that ass. Shake that ass. Shake that ass. See? Boys, this is this this is the week. This is the week. I agree. This is going to be juicy. Yeah. This is going to be pretty good. We got We got 40. Wow. Jeez. Okay, I am excited about it. I was going to pick seaw spear. I swear. All right. So, let me see here. Let me just write this. And actually, I already told you guys what what my my spear bet is. So, nappy boy. You’re going with nap. Nappy. Nappy. Nappy. All right. Just butter. That swing is just butter. Nap for Ian. All right, John. Who you got? This is just strictly off of uh vibes, but I’m going to go with Cashmere. Keith Mitchell. Okay. Yeah. Why the heck not? Why not? Who’ you take? Who’ you pick? Keith Mitchell. Keith Mitchell. Oh man, I am in a glass case of emotion. I I really was going to pick Seiwoo. I’m all out of sorts now. Well, you can pick him. This is your spear bet. So, if you want to pick him for your for your top 20, you pick for your top 20. Yeah. But then I’m also rooting for Berg at the same time. like, you know, do I want that? That’s a tough call. Then on the flip side, if he’s the one that doesn’t win, I just lose twice. Both. Yeah. Yeah. You’re Yeah, man. That’s a lot of eggs in one basket. Hold on. I’m looking something up and then I might have a pick. Berg, you can go if you’re ready. Okay, I’m going to go. We picked him last week. Didn’t really do too well, but I’m going to go with Tom Kim. Hey, Tom Kim. Love it. TK. It’s a good hometown hometown guy. All right. It’s all down to me, huh? Sure is. Sure [ __ ] is. Where’d he go? I just saw his name. Oh no. Lost him. Lost one. He’s going off vibes. That’s all we’re here for. Hometown boy. My hometown boy probably lives up the street from me. Two of our names. Eric Cole. I like it. I really don’t know why. Hey, I don’t know why. I’ve picked some of my stuff, but just happens. But they’ve hit when we haven’t picked them. You got [ __ ] Rogers. Yeah. What’s What’s Brian Harmon’s deal lately? He won the Open and that’s it. Isn’t he a Texas guy? Georgia guy. Okay. He uh he missed actually made the cut this week and finished T60th the PJ and he won the Valero before the Masters. So, he’s won this year. Okay. I got Eric Cole locked in. All right. I think Did Didn’t Eric Cole had a hole in one this week, too? Was he the other one? I think he might have. Another guy. I thought there was a few hole in ones. There was at least two. Yeah. Thought I saw him that he had one. All right, gentlemen. I’ve got to I got to sign it. All right. Well, I guess that uh that kind of wraps it up for this week’s episode. Next week, we’ll be back. We’ll be talking about not only the memorial, but we also have the US Women’s Open next week at Aaron Hills. Good times. Hell yeah. We’ll shout out for that. Love it. There we go. All right, gentlemen. Good stuff, boys. Place your bets.
