As well as helping you produce the best long game you can have, I will help you lower your scores by chipping better, stopping duff and thin chips, pitching the ball closer and creating backspin like the tour pros. Finally, I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts too!

Do you want a golf swing that’s going to help you hit the golf ball more consistently with both irons and driver? I thought so. There is a common difference I see a lot between amateur golfers struggling to strike the golf ball pure compared to the best players in the world that are hitting the golf ball consistently every time. This common difference is how the arms are moving in the golf swing. Let me explain. So what I see with amateur golfers that struggle to strike the golf ball consistently and again this is both with irons and driver is how they are moving their arms in relationship to their body throughout the back swing and the down swing. So if I if let’s say our arms are level now with our body. Okay, if we go into our setup, our arms are about 45° in relationship to our upper body and sort of spine. So, basically, if I move my arms to 45°, my arms are raising up, aren’t they? Now, in the golf swing, the best players in the world that are striking the golf ball pure, both irons and driver, remember, in the back swing are raising their arms a little bit more. Okay? So, they’re raising their arms and then on the down swing, they’re lowering them. Whereas what I see with amateur golfers, and this is so common, is a lowering of the arms on their back swing and then a raising of their arms on the down swing. The complete opposite to what the best players in the world are doing. What we see with amateur golfers is this sort of pull back with their arms in their back swing. And now look at where my arm is. Just think about where it was. I’ve pulled it back and now I’m lowering my arms because they were at 45 degrees at setup. And then I’m pulling my arm back in my back swing. And then you see these sort of over the top moves where you start to raise your arms on the down swing. Completely the opposite to what good players are doing. Good players are raising their arms on their back swing. If I now turn to the top of my back swing, you can see I’ve raised it and then they’re lowering their arms on their down swing. So, here’s a really simple golf drill, and you can do this anywhere at home at the driving range before you hit your next golf shot to make sure you’re getting the right motion of raising the arms on the way back and then luring on your down swing. And this will completely transform the way you strike the golf ball. So, what I want you to do, you don’t even need a golf club for this. Just set yourself up like you’re going to hit a golf ball. So, get yourself into posture and let your arms hang in that sort of 45° angle. And remember, that’s your arms raising up a little bit. And your lead arm, lead hand, I want you to pop behind your trail elbow or tricep area. Try not to bend your hand to stop it moving. I want you just to place it behind that area. And this is going to teach you how to raise your arms in the back swing rather than lowering your arms in the back swing. So, set yourself up in this sort of position and just make some turns and you will start to feel this arm is now raising up. Okay? So, it’s gone from 45° all the way up to here. My arm’s not slipping off. If I was to lower my arms in this back swing, my arm would start to slide off of this lead hand. So, just pop that lead hand behind your tricep or elbow of that trail arm and rotate up to the top and you’ll get your arm into a very nice back swing position. That will be your arms raising up in that back swing. absolutely perfect to hit this golf ball more consistently. And then in the down swing, all I want you to do once you’re in that position is get your lead hand that’s supporting this trail arm to just move closer to your rib cage in the down swing. And that is your arms lowering in the down swing. And that’s as simple as you can make it of raising the arms in the back swing, lowering them in the down swing. And as you add some turns and rotations, you’ll start getting into those impact positions, that’s going to help you strike the golf ball more consistently every time. When I have a student come in for lessons and they’re doing this sort of move of pulling the arm back in the back swing and then chucking the arms over the top in the down swings, hitting big pulls, cuts, slices, those kind of things. This drill really resonates with them. It’s an oldie but a goldie. I promise you at home in your living room as you’re on the range, really try and get a feel for that motion in your back swing. And then just get this hand moving closer towards your rib cage on the down swing. That’s going to be the rear arms raising up and lowering in the correct sequence. And then try and get that feel in your actual swing as well. Give it a go and let me know in the comments down below if this helped. I promise you this is one of the biggest differences that I see between amateur golfers struggling to strike the golf ball and those guys on the TV and girls on the TV that are striking it consistently every time. This works with both irons and driver. Remember, so make sure you’re doing it with both. Before I leave you, little reminder for you all as well. such a timely bit of information! cheers boss.
Great information and easy to watch and process. Wonder why when you get a lesson you stop being a student and ask lots of questions that you suggest is to help us better understand…. Try being a student for a bit and we might see more flow and enjoy as wells as this version… Just wondering… but that is utube.. we get to observe and comment… Lots of credit to you.. can’t please everyone… If any of golf was easy we would all be on tour…
