um in all the I’ve been covering this event since it went to a team format and I’ve never really heard of the strategy and four balls of competing against your teammate and I was wondering if you could talk about a little more about how you came up with that and exactly how you think it works for you and what’s at stake. Yeah, I think we have probably two of the best short games on tour and we he last year he was up there. I don’t know if you finished first or not in whole outs but you were up there very high. This year I’m a little ahead of him I think overall. So we’re kind of doing some jabs at each other and I don’t know sort of became a thing on the first day after we chipped in three times in the front nine. So how do you think it helps in this format? Does it does it keep you loose or what what does it Yeah, totally. It makes it fun. Um you know, everything about the format’s really fun, but it’s just an added game that we kind of can compete against each other with and uh you know, we’re on the same side, but uh it’s just fun to kind of change it up a little bit. What’s a steak dinner or what? What is that? Nothing really. I don’t not even pride. Just pride. A lot of pride. And more importantly, just the whole approach of playing with the lead and um what you feel worked for you today and and how it sets you up for tomorrow. Yeah, I thought we got off to a really good start today, which was I think good. You know, in this format, when you tee off, you don’t have the lead anymore. Like everybody’s already passed you. It’s four ball. So, it was nice to kind of get out ahead of it, get off to a good start, get get momentum going. And then after the rain delay hit, Ben got hot and made some good putts. And uh yeah, overall it was just a great day. Yeah, it’s funny. Uh if we go back like 3 weeks ago, we played together in Houston and we had a big rain delay after 9 almost exactly like today. And I came back and uh was playing horrible on my back nine to make I I still made the cut, but uh it was nice to kind of come out of this rain delay this time 3 weeks later and uh play a little bit better. So I thought we ham and egged it really well. Uh Andrew got hot on the front nine. Um kind of after I made birdie on the first, I didn’t really need to do a whole lot uh on the front and then the back. Uh I saved him when he needed me. So uh tomorrow we’re going to be, you know, grinding out. We’re we might not hit the best shots from time to time, but it’ll be opportunities for chip ends. And uh we’re excited for it. Were you thinking about Houston during the delay or were you trying not to think about golf? I mean, we mentioned it because it it’s just so similar because we were playing in the same group. We got through nine holes and then boom, weather delay. It’s like identical and we were playing together. So, um, but yeah, I didn’t putt it very well coming out of the delay. I putted a lot and the greens got a little bit slower at Houston on the practice putting green on the course. I felt like they stayed kind of the same, so I was out of my rhythm. So, I tried not to putt too much. Only hit some short putts, then came back out and then uh yeah, got off to a good start hauling out uh, you know, 12footer on 10. What would a man what would a win mean to each of you guys tomorrow? Yeah, it’s what we it’s what we both practice for. It’s why we play on the PJ tour. uh we want to compete against the best players and uh we want to ultimately test ourselves and try to get it done. So, uh it’ll mean a lot. Obviously, there’s a ton at stake when you when you win on the PGH4, but you know, we’re going to be focused on uh each individual shot tomorrow and just trying to execute. Yeah. And I think it’s just the next step. I think I’ve proven that I can get into contention reasonably consistently at this point. It’s just, you know, proving to myself that I can win a tournament. um you know, join that tournament winners category and hopefully that snowballs into more wins. And with a three shot lead, uh how important is that tomorrow, especially in the tougher format? Yeah. I mean, three shots can be gone pretty quick. Like I mean, it’s it’s nice to have it, but we’re going to have to still play well. So, it’s it’s nice to have, but I don’t think we’re going to be thinking about too much. Yeah. I heard one of you mention the Masters and Rory overcoming a a deficit. So, is it Do you have any thoughts on him being in that same situation here, but chasing you guys? Well, no. I mean, the point is there’s no safe lead on the PJ tour. You got to stay aggressive. Um, there’s a lot of intimidating T- shots and par threes out here and both of us are going to have to sack up on those shots tomorrow and and execute. And so, um, yeah, I mean, Rory’s just an example of how things can change fast out here and we got to make sure we, uh, keep building on our lead and, uh, try to win by a lot. All right. Thanks, guys. I appreciate it. Thanks.
