Whether you’re new to the game or you’ve been playing forever, we all know the pain of that right driver miss, that slice to the right or the over fade, in today’s video, Martin and I are going to show you how to fix that with a drill we’ve never showed before. It’s called the 321 nun drill. It’s going to totally change your driver game. Let’s dive right in. Hey guys, Eric Agorno here with Performance Golf. We’re out here with the living legend himself, Mr. Martin Hall, the club at Ibis. Beautiful West Palm Beach, Florida. What a beautiful day down here. If you’ve been golfing for any amount of time, you know Martin. He’s been one of the highest, highest ranked golf coaches in the world forever for good reason. I’ve been watching Martin on TV for the past 15 plus years. He’s really influenced my coaching, helped me a lot, has helped millions of golfers. And today, Mr. Martin, we’re going to talk about one thing that every golfer struggles with at some point in time, which is that right miss with the driver, that over fade. and you have so many good and creative drills and this one, the 321 none I’ve never seen before. I saw you do it. I think it’s going to help a lot of golfers. If you would kindly guide us through what that is and how we can fix some slices. Yeah. So, so look, we both know that if the ball is going too far to the right and you’re right-handed, then the club face is open to your path. And you know, how do you close it? I mean, that’s you know, you you certainly don’t close it like a flash of lightning down there at the bottom. That’s the worst way to possibly play. All happens just about the moment you’re hitting the ball. Good luck with that one. Easy easy to buy a lottery ticket and win. Um, so I came up with this drill a while ago and it was with dealing with my most difficult student that is me. I am my most difficult student. I thought, how am I going to have a way to practice and train and and and you know, rehearse when I’m not at the golf course they can help me square up that club face and get it looking about at the target when I hit the ball. So, I came up with a 321 drill. And you know, as the viewers can watch, I’ve ruined a perfectly good golf club because I’ve written three two one. Now, 3 2 1 none. 3 2 1 boom is what’s going to square up that club face. So, Eric, I want you to test set up to the ball for me. Yep. And when you set up, how many knuckles can you see? I can see three knuckles. Yeah. Three. So, out of the corner of his left eye, Eric can see three, two, and one. Now, what a lot of players would do is I say, “That’s very good. You’ve got a nice strong grip.” I’d take them to the top or ask them to go to the top and they’d go to the top and I’ll say, “How many knuckles can you three see? I gave it away. How many knuckles can you see?” It’s three, isn’t it? Yes. We don’t want to be able to see three knuckles at the top at all. So, let’s go back and let me have you do it properly. I want three at setup. I want two at the top. So when he takes the I only want to see two knuckles. You should not be able to see number three. No, you can see only two knuckles. Now that’s helping him. Oh, square or even close the club face a little bit. I don’t mind if I’m trying to club face a bit closed. I don’t mind that at all. And then if you bring the club down to here last parallel, I want you to see one 3 2 1 boom. Yeah, you know that’s that’s the hit. Three, two, now you can practice that at home. You really can. Three, two, one. Three, two, one. And the two to one, when it’s going from two to one, as you’re starting down, you’re putting a torque on the shaft. You’re putting a turn on. As I take to every junior I teach, the toe must go. When you’re coming down, the toe must go if you’re going to square up that club face. And that I mean that would be a drill I do all the time to just have people split the grip and just turn that toe coming down. More in this part I would say Eric more as you start at the top. Okay. All right guys, quick break from today’s video. Look, if you want to make massive improvements with your game and actually get way better in 2025, you got to do something different than you’ve done before. And one of those things that I highly recommend is checking out these two-day schools that my friends at Performance Golf are hosting. These are with the best coaches in the world. People you see me in videos with all the time like Martin Chuck, Andrew Rice, Erica Lark, and many more of the top coaches at awesome, awesome places all around the United States. We’re seeing great results with these schools because what we’re able to do when we see you in person is really find and fix the main root issue. Most all of us have like four or five things wrong with our swing. You can’t do them all at one time, but you can find and fix the main one thing, which we can do in person like that. We’re able to make massive improvements. I’m talking like maybe two years of improvements in only 2 days. So, if you’re looking for something to really fast track your improvement, this could be the thing that could take you to the next level. We’ll put a link in the description down below. Check it out. See if there’s a spot available in a location that works for you. So, 3 2 1 boom. Yeah. What a cool little drill like this. And if the players at home, Martin, you can have them put the one, two, and three. I’ve seen you do this with dots on the knuckles as well. Yes, you can do it with dots. And that’s a nice little easy way to train it. And and when you guys do this and you try this at home, it’s cool to see a drill that sounds good. And then when you actually perform it, like, wow, that works really good. I can only see the two. I can only see the one. And then at impact, what we’re going for effectively is I could see none. None. That’s the none part. 3, two, one, gone. Now, most slicers, right, especially if you’re newer to the game with the slice, just to give you a simple visual, right, we’re saying when you come down to the point of Martins’s, the toe must go, the toe or outer edge of the club. When you come down relative to the path you’re on, like Martin said, the club face would be open to that path or pointed some amount to the right of that, which means the toe would be behind the heel. Yeah. And when we’re doing the 321 to be able to see less of those, we’re trying to get the toe to get even with and then even, you know, potentially beyond the heel and the follow through with the grip. Martin, I’d be curious to know cuz this part when I’m seeing three knuckles, what percentage of people who slice would you say at some point either see two or either see one? Oh, it’s a high number, Eric. Yeah, it’s a lot. I mean, you know, for for every hundred golfers who come through my door, I will strengthen 99 of their grips and maybe one I’ll leave alone. I don’t weaken many grips. I don’t weaken many either. And it’s interesting when golfers come in, and you may have have known this, and I’ve felt this the same golfer will come in, and I I’ll explain all kinds of issues. I’ve got early extension, early release, my takeaway, but I don’t mention my grip is too weak, but usually nine times out of 10 it is. So, make sure you don’t skip that part. Getting the three at setup is really the big key. You know, every clinic I do here at Ibis, I start with the grip. They say, “Oh, there he goes again with the grip thing.” So, yeah, there he goes again because you haven’t changed anything yet. People don’t If people knew how important the grip was. They changed in a hurry. This isn’t a it would be nice if you moved your hand here thing. This is a If you want to enjoy golf, see three knuckles when you set up. I’ve got something else I want to follow up with here, Eric, with a 321. sort of a visual of where the club face is. I took a magnetic light tool and taped it to the face of the driver. And you know, one of my great mentors, Jim Flick, would always say, “Look, if you’re going to be any good at all, you have to know where the face is at all times in the swing.” And when you say know where the face is, I’ve taken it to mean you’ve got to know where that face is pointing. Um, years ago, I gave a young man a lesson who’s probably doing AI now. He was so bright. I said, “Now, Ethan, I want you to tell me where this club face goes.” And I made as good a swing as I can. And that magnet went round here like it must. And I did my 3, two, one, and it came down and it went over here. And I said to Ethan, “Where do you think the club goes?” He said, “It goes everywhere.” It does. that that’s what makes golf so hot. We’re not playing croquet. The club doesn’t do that. The club’s going to turn open where you want it to on the back swing and it’s going to turn closed on the way down if you’re going to be any good to that point. Three knuckles, two knuckles, one knuckle. When I’m at the one knuckle launch pad, this is like seconds before launch. Do you see how that face is down at the ground? You know, people talk about covering it. I think that’s that’s covering the ball. This is not I got trapped under. It’s like, well, I think your face was up to the sky. Yeah. Let’s see you try that. Yeah. And I know that sometimes you’ll give a little reference to a a clock and a 12:00, 11:00, 1:00 with this. Yeah, for sure. I will. Yeah. I mean, if you if you thought of a clock, just take it up, bring it down. Bring it down to last parallel. If we said that was 12:00 on a clock face, that’s 12:00 on a clock face. Over here would be 9:00. Over here is 3:00. I mean, it’s pointing down. Then you can feel that you cover the ball. Um, I wish I’d known this a lot earlier. Obviously, you can’t hit balls with this on, but if you if you get one of these magnets online and you tape it to a driver, it’s amazing how much good information that puts into your hands and your brain as to how that club face gets there. Well, I’ll tell you what, too. We obviously we we see a lot of uh amateur golfers, and if you’re struggling with the slice, that last point, a I’m loving this drill. I’ve never done this and and look back, it’s really great feedback to be able to start and see the three. I mean, it’s simple, but it’s so darn effective. see only two, see only one. Obviously, if I did the poor version like uh Martin had mentioned and don’t skip this, right? You you might be at the setup only seeing one or two, start with that. But when I go back, if I see two or three, right? Especially three, no good. Only two. When I come down, if I did the bad again, maybe that club face is at like, you know, on this side, 11:00 relative to that 12. And I can still see the one, two, three versus just the one and then zero. What a nice easy drill. Like some of these drills you do, Martin, they’re so creative and and I learn so well from them because they’re so simple, but they’re so effective. If you’re watching this and you struggle with a ball that over curves, right? The simple fact is the club face is too open to the path. We must do something to change it. These are the non-negotiables. I think I’m going to hit one, Martin, if you don’t mind, with that same feel. So, when you guys are rehearsing this, three, two, one, none. I mean, does it get any simpler than that? Now, can I do it, Mr. Martin? Let’s see. I’m going to still try and hit this little bullet cut, this little bullet fade. I’m going to talk to you guys about how you can get that training series here in a moment. Three, three, two, one, boom. 3 2 1 boom. Yeah. And that’s a pretty straight ball for me. I would take that 14 out of 14 times. That’s not missing any pretty darn straight. And it’s certainly not going super weak. And right. So, if you guys want to learn how to hit your driver better, and who doesn’t want to learn how to hit your driver better? When you go play and your driver’s off, the game’s no fun. You don’t score good. But when you hit your driver good, it sets up the whole round. Martin did a billiondoll T-OT, the billion-dollar T-shot training program here with Performance Golf, and it’s going to really help you hit that little go-to bullet cut, fix that big slice off the tea, and play much better golf. You get it for less than the price of one round of golf. How about less than the price of one round of golf to hit your driver better forever? And you get a full year, 365 days to test drive it. We’ll put that link in the description below. Go check that out. I promise it’s going to help you. Thank you guys for watching.

Love this. This would apply to the swing regardless of club in the full swing. Correct?
OMG! All this time I had no idea it was the position of my wrist! Using the 3-2-1 drill has made a huge difference with my contact issues. Even my irons go farther than before! THANK YOU SO MUCH
Why does no one talk about the trail hand grip?
