The distribution of prize money from the 2025 PGA Championship has been revealed, with Scottie Scheffler earning himself a nice payday after besting the rest across the four days at the Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina.
A first career PGA Championship title meant that the 28-year-old is now a three-time Major winner, thanks to a score of 11 under par across four days of golfing, which finished with a comfortable margin of five shots ahead of the next set of competitors tied for second place.
With a total prize pool of $19 million, the world number one earned a total of $3,420,000, and a lifetime exemption to participate in any future PGA Championship event, given to any previous winner of the prestigious tournament.
Scottie Scheffler Takes Home First PGA Championship
It was an emotional ending for the American
Winning the PGA title was certainly a much-needed feeling for the 28-year-old as his usual composure was broken by emotion upon finishing the last hole of the weekend, particularly after coming just short of winning this honour in 2023 and having his efforts in 2024 affected by a traffic incident-related arrest during the tournament at Kentucky. This year, he was not to be denied, even by being forced to use a back-up driver as his normal one was found to be “non-conforming” to tournament regulations.
The runner-up title was a three-way tie between Bryson DeChambeau, Harris English, and Davis Riley, all finishing six under par. The trio of Americans all earned $1,418,667 each for their strong showings, which were career-best placings at Majors for English and Harris, as well as a match for 2024’s result for DeChambeau. The latter has been in fine form since the start of 2024 when it comes to Majors, finishing sixth or better in five of the six tournaments that took place in the last year-and-a-half, including winning his second US Open last year.
Jon Rahm’s Final Three Hole Collapse
It all went wrong for the Spaniard on the 16th, 17th, and 18th
Yet, the real opposition to Scheffler’s glory was not any of these three, but it was Spain’s Jon Rahm, who posed the greatest threat in search of his own third Major title. The 30-year-old had a storming start to the final day to not only close the five-score gap, but also tie for the lead at -9 with the latter nine holes left to play, before a miserable final three holes saw him sink all the way down to a tie for eighth place on -4, earning $415,262 as a result. A bitter end to a revival for the former world number one.

Finishing ahead of Rahm by one shot was the three-way tie for fifth place between Taylor Pendrith, Jhonattan Vegas, and J.T. Poston. The three contenders all scored well to finish in the top five and earned themselves a prize of $694,700 for their efforts.
Pre-tournament hopes for the likes of last year’s champion Xander Schauffele and Rory McIlroy were disproved by reality as both golfers were unable to put themselves in the running. McIlroy had a particularly rough week at a course he normally thrives on, finishing three over par after four rounds to rank 47th and earning $49,190. His time was more notable for his media absences throughout the tournament and the stir caused by his usual driver being found “non-conforming”, much like Scheffler’s was, albeit the Northern Irishman’s case was known prior to the start of proceedings.
