in 2013 Dennis Rodman made International headlines as he made a trip to North Korea to meet its supreme leader Kim Jong-un who personally invited him as a guest but Rodman wasn’t the first choice of the dictator who was a huge Chicago Bulls fan and primarily tried to bring over Michael Jordan after MJ declined the invitation Kim invited Scotty Pippen who also refused to participate in the dictator’s whims then they asked me Rodman told GQ in 2021 I said okay I’ll do it I’ll go little did I know Kim Jong-un practically didn’t leave Rodman’s side while he was his guest a shering him with extravagant gifts treating him like royalty and even offering him to permanently move to North Korea Rodman politely declined but made several more visits back and for Kim jong-un’s birthday organized an exhibition match with a few other former NBA players in January of 2014
