👉 In this golf wedge spin test, I compare a 2000 Vokey, a 2013 Nike, and a brand new 2025 wedge. Do modern wedges actually spin more?

Or is it all hype?

Find out how wedge grooves, age, and design affect spin – and whether it’s time to upgrade.

🔍 Is a brand-new wedge really worth it? In this video, I put three wedges to the test:

✅ TM MG3
✅ Nike V Forged
✅ Titleist Vokey Design

Using my gc3 launch monitor, I test spin, launch, and feel to see how much performance drops off over time. If you’re wondering whether your old wedge still gets the job done—or if it’s time to upgrade—this test will surprise you!

You might have been using the same wedges for 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 years or more, but is it hurting your game? Are you losing spin? Is it worth upgrading? So, today I’m going to find out. Is it even worth upgrading and spending money on new wedges? I’m going to test the very first wedge I ever got, and I’ve still got it. Title is Voki Design. What a be oil can 56 degree. That’s about 25 years old. I’m going to be testing this lovely Nike VFforged 58 degree nice wedge that was about 12 years old. And I’m going to be testing my current wedge. This mil grind three from Tailor Made is 58 degrees as well. So, we’ve got relatively new, quite old, really old. How much is the screen going to differ? Obviously, one of them’s 56 tight list the oldest one. So that will be even if it was brand new should be slightly lower. But we’ll see, won’t we? And if you are new here, be sure to hit the subscribe button, hit the bell notification so you don’t miss out on any future videos like this. I do golf ball reviews and golf tips as well. So be sure to hit that button. So I’m going to hit some prov1’s, make it all standardized. I’m going to go 50 yard shots, nothing more than that, nothing less. And just do a handful of shots on each and then look at the spin numbers and see is it worth spending hundreds of pounds on brand new wedges. But 58 degree Nike from 2012. Okay. 6799 spin. That’s not bad. There’s 7,000 spin. Stopping pretty fast there, isn’t it? 6,200. Spinning a decent amount. Yeah. 63. Need one more and I’ll switch to the really old one. Yeah. 62. Not bad. See that one a bit low. Okay. So, that that’s not bad. That’s sort of what I’d expect, I think. But we’ll see. We’ll see what my new one’s like in a minute. But let’s do the Titalist Vuly, the 56 Vokei. The grip’s a bit shiny, so feels a bit weird. And let me know in the comments what wedges do you play. Do you think you get enough spin or do you think you need more spin? Might be a technique thing, but let me know in the comments. 5425. So, I’d be expecting a little less spin, I guess, because it’s 2° stronger. 6475 spin. Hello. Oh, look at that one. That’s stopped dead, isn’t it? Well, this is a little surprising, I have to say. Yeah. 5,000 spin. Okay. Oh, nearly. I mean, I don’t know if you can see. They’re a bit worn. Okay, so finish up then with the 10made mil grind three. Hopefully hopefully the most spin. 64 74 spin. That’s nice. I’m starting to think that the the Nike one still got a lot of life left in it. Maybe it’s illegal as a wedge now. Let me know in the comments. Is a Nike V forged wedge illegal. That was nice. 7275 spin there. Although I don’t think uh FSX picked it up, which is annoying. 65. So obviously you can see the data above. That’s really interesting. I am surprised by that. Um I thought it would be not as bad as we thought. You know, you get told this story you need to get new wedges because you get more spin out of it. And that is true. But the amount more that you get, you know, 12 12 year old wedge, 25 year old wedge, it’s all about the same. Like they were all cleaned. I don’t think it’s worth it. What do you think? Let me know in the comments. Is it worth spending £100 or more for a single wedge on this premise of more spin? I don’t know. Some people will think it is, and some people want to spend their money on that, and that’s fine. I do it, too. Please do hit that subscribe button. makes a huge difference to me and the channel growth. Appreciate it a lot. See you again in the next video.
