Yankees explode for a 10 2 victory to start their West Coast trip last night and the Martian is right in the middle of it all. JP Sears, as I said to slow this freight train down because it is a dynamic offense especially against left handers. JP Sears has been throwing the ball well over his last few starts and Goldschmidt leads it off against JP Sears hit this one to right field. Rooker drifts back a step or two will make the catch one away. Came in at 3 45 4 homers 18 RBI and a center fielder Trent Grisham. Now two and two and in a minute stuck with a sweeper and got the desired result. Two away. Speaking of numbers, aaron Judge , he’s at 396. How dare he fall below? I say that below 400. How you see the pink hitting clip Mother’s Day preview for aaron Judge got him JP Sears a 123 innings striking out two including a big one against the big man. Aaron Judge. Outstanding numbers on the year from carlos outstanding job. The strikeouts, 57 strikeouts at six in baseball, Jacob Wilson, a guy who we will continue to talk about. I think as the season progresses now, Wilson clubs this to left center field dominguez on the run, he’s still going, it’s off the wall and Wilson will pull the second base with a leadoff double. How about that? A leadoff Dub zack in the 91 6 to 2, 48 9 homers, 19 runs batted in, batted 300 against lefties this year and he swings and misses for strike three. Another good change up from Rodon Wells wanted it away but it’s still effective pitch. Rooker probably looking fastball one away and here’s, and this pitch lifted in the air. Left center field again. Deep dominguez battling the sun makes the catch fires it in and wilson returns to second two away that will bring up and you don’t want to squander this opportunity. Jacob wilson is going to try and steal third throw down from Wells. The tag is late and Wilson has stolen third base. Jacob Wilson very confident in the timing and in the read he had on left hander, Carlos Rodon grounded to third right at para step. Right. Loves it. Squares, throws, got him and Rodon after the leadoff double strands it er, six hits over a five game hit streak has launched to center Butler breaks back. He’s still going a good recovery by Lawrence Butler. He hasn’t played a lot of center field that makes a nice play for the first out. Here’s Anthony Volpi, right hitter, one out, nobody on Volpi takes outside ball four and now he takes his walk. Volpe. Jogs down to first Yankees first baserunner of the afternoon. So strong at bat from Volpe. Now his best buddy austin Wells digs in. It’s plunked. It got him, it ran inside on Wells and he flips the bat aside. He calmly walk down to first. The Yankees have two on one out. Here’s Jason Dominguez, the star of the night three homers, seven RBS, youngest Yankee with a three homer game batting from the right side two and all high in the air to left fighting the sun is Soderstrom but he makes the catch and he’s going to throw to third. He got him, what a play by Soderstrom caught it flat footed and BPI thought he could test the arm and he found out real quick and that 75, double play ends the top of the second. So two consecutive strikeouts on that slider three Ks for Rodon two down and a ring of behind it one and two. And he lifts this one in the air to right. This one’s traveling far and it is a fair ball. It’s gone. How about it? Just tuck it into that quarter and put it to bed. Liftoff has struck again, an opposite field home run for luis Urias and it’s one to nothing athletics and it’s a two out single first hit of the day for the Yankees, here’s Grisham. It’s a grumble down to the second baseman Rios will scoop it up and flip it over to first to the two out single for Goldschmidt. Nothing else. Berea grounds it through single and that’s how we’ll start off the bottom of the third inning. Jacob Wilson, the shortstop Wilson shows bunt lays down a beauty up the line barehanded try by, he’s not going to be able to come up with it and wilson is just doing everything right with the baseball bat. Here’s Rooker hitting with two on and nobody out drive to left dominguez going back ball is not coming back two singles. Then Rooker drives him home his 10th home run of the year and he gets RBIs 2021 and 22 Hammer time four to athletics and a wave and a miss. So a good response by Rodin striking out Soderstrom. That’s the fourth hit this inning, the sixth, this game against Rodon and it seems like everything’s been hit pretty hard against the left hander. Langs at first on Duar at the plate and swinging on the first pitch, bouncing ball to short. It’s bobbled by Volpe goes to second and Langs is beaten there. The hand is up in the A’s dugout and it was a bang bang play and they are going to take a look at this in the field, overturned the runner. So what could have been a double play actually ends up runners on 1st and 2nd and still only one out. Butler comes up with the slider. Did he go around? He sure did according to Chris Guccione. So a big strikeout there by Rodon, he’s a 40 lead chance for more grounded softly towards first Goldsman. Tough play underhand flip to Rodon covering bare hand catch. Wow. Rodon took the bare hand flip, caught it with the left hand ST on the back inning over Yankees with some work to do now trailing four nothing as we start the fourth inning. Aaron Judge leads it off against JP Sears first one to judge it high in the air, right center and deep Butler on the run at the wall. It is gone. Aaron Judge back home and hitting bombs in Sacramento and the Yankees are on the board. It’s now 41 and the crowd like that one, a lot of fans here on their feet for Aaron Judge’s 13th home run of the season. JP Sears out of the game, Justin Sterner coming in out of the bullpen. The righty facing aaron Judge to start off the sixth. It’s a 4 to 1 ball game. Sterner has not given up a run in 18 and two thirds with a big blast to center field but batter’s eye another bomb by Judge second home run in as many at bats for aaron Judge and it’s now 42 A’s give him a show in Sacramento. Did you say something about Sterner? Not giving up a run that got old really quick. Number 14 for judge two today and the Yankees creeping closer. Yankees have two in scoring position and nobody out. Austin Wells standing in with two in scoring position. 12 high drive left field. Does she get a run in? Soderstrom makes the catch Bellinger tags a sack fly for austin Wells and it’s now a 43 A’s lead Cabrera with runners at the corners one away. Sixth inning Yankees from 40 down a chance to tire. Take the lead. Dominguez takes off from first. It’s popped up shallow left, could be deep enough for Volpe to tie it. Soderstrom makes the catch here comes Volpe throws score. It’s a pitch hit. Zack fly for us, Waldo cabrera and the Yankees have tied it up here in the six. It’s now a 44 game. So here’s Oswald Peraza. What was a four, nothing a lead has been erased. It’s now a 44 game right deep down the left field line. If it’s fair, it could be gone and it’s off the foul pole. A two run homer for Oswald, Peraza Yankees have the lead. They’ve scored five here in the sixth and it’s now 64 Bombers. What a shot by Peraza coming through from the number nine spot five big runs by the Yankees in this inning, two quick outs for carlos Rodon. I Rodon looking for strikeout number 10. That would be a season high two out nobody on sixth inning Yankees, a 64 lead. Rodon stares in 32. He’s got it strike three called 96 on the fastball season high 10 punch outs for Carlos Rodon in the Easter with one out runners on 2nd and 3rd and Bangal is looking to make a little noise high in the air to center field. Going back at the track at the wall is gone. The A’s have the lead again. 7 to 6. See it up. You get the split high, you let it fly. How about it? The game of momentum back and forth. We go here on this home stand. Well, we’re back here at the ballpark 7 to 6. Athlete Knicks two on one out top of the eighth inning and in a spot where you need him the most, what time is it? It’s Miller time and he strikes out Rice on the breaking ball stuck with it. It looked good two away. Absolute. What a battle here, Paul Goldschmidt, what a big out for Mason Miller gets two outs in the eighth and keeps it a 7 to 6 athletics lead and the bases are loaded as wilson picks up his seventh walk of the season and Brent Rooker will come in with the backs full swing and a miss , there’s the slider and a strike out for Ian Hamilton two away. Hamilton loads him up. It gets a big strike out there left hander Tyler Mats. It comes out of the bullpen to work for the Yankees in the bottom of the eighth inning. This will be a lefty on lefty matchup with Soder coming up first pitched a base hit Kurtz will score rounding third. He will score and so the, the athletics needed, it’s 9 to 6 stepping up in a big way. That is two massive insurance runs. There’s Langoliers and he is have a cushion big day for Langoliers and this one’s club to center Resham going back and silver is headed off the wall. Wilson will score being home is Soderstrom the relay. It is late 4, 11 to 6 legs wasn’t done his fourth hit of the game, his second extra base hit and now he has five RBIs here today on a beautiful Saturday in the capital city in the bottom of the eighth inning and Mason Miller comes back out. So a pretty wise move for Mark to bring him in. Faces Trent Grisham here I drive center field and pretty deep. Butler on the run on the, he reaches up and he can’t get it. It’s off the wall. Grisham speeding around second. He’s going to head to third with a leadoff triple and the Yankees have a lot of work to do here in the top of the ninth, but Grisham starts him off. So here’s judge with a runner on third ground ball to short. This will bring home a run. Wilson throws to first and judge is retired but gets his third RB I of the day it’s now 11 to 7.I think you’ll take that if you’re Mason Miller. Absolutely. 2 to 2. He went fishing one and one up and away by a mile. Three. Strikeouts for Miller and one more out left to go for a very big athletics win. The Reaper knocks off New York in game two of the series gets his 11th, save a very big athletics win. They win 11 to 7 in a game that went back and forth. And ultimately, the green and gold were victorious.

  1. I grew up in the NYC sphere of influence that detests homerism from its broadcasters, so I normally have a visceral reaction to it, but it's especially rich hearing it from a team that technically, at the moment, doesn't even have a home.

  2. Profoundly embarrassing game by the Yankees. Sloppy play leading to a deficit, they fight back for the lead, and then immediately blow it. I can’t get mad at Cruz; he’s been so great all season, he was due for a dud. It happens. The bullpen decisions after that are simply inexplicable and inexcusable. Bases loaded in the 8th inning, two outs, down by just one run – that’s a spot for your best reliever (weaver). It’s not a spot for you to get cute with matchups and lanes and send out Tyler Matzek, your blowout long relief innings eater, just because he’s left handed. Boone has made so many flabbergasting bullpen moves recently. He has no intuition or feel for the game.
