Today, we’re testing the new Sugar Quad golf ball—a four-piece, urethane-covered ball built for performance at a great price… but is it actually a good fit for high handicap golfers?

We take the Quad out for a full on-course HONEST test to see how it performs off the tee, on approach, and around the green. Most four-piece balls are aimed at low handicaps and big swing speeds—but Sugar says the Quad is different.

So we’re asking:
Can a premium tour-style ball actually help the average golfer? Or is it just too much ball for the rest of us?

In this video, you’ll see:
✔️ Driver and iron performance
✔️ Spin and feel around the greens
✔️ Real feedback from a high handicap player
✔️ Whether this ball is worth the switch

[Music] Sugar quad, you’re doing me right, [Music] baby. Thanks for joining us at Sort of Like Golf. Today we’re going to be taking a look at a new ball, the Sugar Quad, which is a fourpiece. 1 2 3 4 with a urethane cover. And let’s take a look and see how this ball, which is really more of a tour ball, works for high handicappers. We’re going to start off with a little par three here. And uh you know, our T-shot was straight down the pike. Looks really good. In fact, I hit it a little bit long. So, going to take it easy here and uh and see if I can use the old Texas wedge on this guy. Looks like I pushed it right a little bit, but the uh the distance was right. Going to try and get this par putt to fall. Mhm. I didn’t think it was going to make it, dude. So, that was super close. I did not think that was going to make it. All right, so we’re out here with Need at Needwood, and I just want to call out this new killer polo that I’ve got going on here. This is from Four Golf Apparel. They’re fantastic shirt company. Uh they sent me this to to try out. It’s got it so comfortable and it’s really just a great shirt. They’ve got the coolest shirts you can imagine. The great greatest polos, everything out there. Go check them out forgolf apparel.com. They’re awesome. Trust me on this. All right, so let’s get the driver out here. Thing felt really good coming off the driver. I just kind of pushed it a little bit over to the right, but hopefully it’s going to stay in play. It did, but it was a little on the side of the hill. I couldn’t reach the green because of those those tree limbs. So, I just tried to, you know, chip it over there. There was water in between me. So, now a little bump and run. Oh, I got way too much of that. Way too much of that. Going to try my Texas wedge again on this to get it through this grass, but unfortunately, I didn’t give it enough. I I thought it was going to be smoother there. Still, let’s try and two putt from here. I really like putting with balls with urethane covers. I think that they they just feel a lot better coming off my putter. That was a good putt. All right, so nice little two putt. All right, so far the ball’s holding up pretty well um after three or four hole three holes. Um, just a little bit of grass. No big deal. Covers looking brand new. Just needs to be washed off a little bit. Yeah, good to go. All right. This next one is a uh a long par4. So So we switched over to the main kneadedwood course. We were on the executive course, but uh wanted to try this on on the big the big course. Good drive there. Hey, the the ball drives well. It goes pretty far for me. Didn’t quite get all of that. Uh, this is kind of showing the forgiveness of these balls because I I didn’t get a good shot there. But let’s see if we can get something better up onto the green. Yeah. So, this eight iron really got up there and it looked like it was going to go long. Might have gone over. No, look at that. It checked up. Still not quite on the green, but it didn’t go all the way over. That’s fantastic. I think that’s what the urethane does for you. Yeah, you’ll notice I’m using that Texas wedge more. I think I have more control of it coming off of there than trying to chip it on. Let’s make a putt. That’s what I’m talking about. That is what I’m talking about. All right, I really smacked this one. This is a great drive. I think that’s got to be one of my longest drives ever. That was a heck of a drive. Little fivewood. And I mean, these balls launch, dude. Tell you, I’m liking the distance I’m getting out of these. I’m not a long hitter by a long shot, and they’re going pretty far for me. All right, I left myself in a really good spot here. Darn. I pulled that shot. Had a feeling that was going left. All right. Now I got to get the chipper out for this one. There’s no putting through that. Popped right out. Checked right up. Left me with a makeable putt. I really thought that one was going to break a little bit more. Still not too bad. Two putting again. All right. Little par three with the hybrid. kind of pushed it a little bit to the right, but hopefully it’ll be okay. Sure it ended up. Just about the right length. So, we’ll see if we can find it down there. Well, darn. They caught me. See if we can get out of this bad boy. It’s one of my best sand shots ever. Wow. All right, let’s see if we can par this bad boy. Didn’t quite get the aim right, but but I didn’t I didn’t want to leave that one short. All right, you see I’m practicing this short one this time. It’s got to go in. That was a bogey save for the ages. Sugar quad, you’re doing me right, baby. Out of the bunker. All right, we got another one more hole here. Didn’t get all of that. Kind of hit hit it on the bottom of the club. Hit that one down the foot of the club. But even with mis hits, this this ball goes far, man. You can see I didn’t get all of that either, but but it gets down there. Let’s get this hybrid and get it up onto the green or close to it at least. This is a par five, so I’m not making the green with this. I’m definitely not making it with that shot. Got to get it up. Got to get it out of that. This is probably my best shot of the day. Right up onto the green. Now, let’s see if it checks. And it did. It stayed on the green. Left me with a long putt. But these balls feel good coming off the putter. Like I said, look at that distance. Perfect. I am not missing this. That’s what I’m talking about. Okay, everybody. Thanks for watching with Sort of Like Golf today. But I got to tell you, this Sugar Quad is the real deal. And for high handicappers like me, I’m a 24.3. It still works. The ball’s going further than I normally hit it. It feels great around the greens. I mean, you saw the uh the sand bogey save that I got there. That could have been a sand save if I was a little better on putting, but it feels really good on the greens as well. Um, you know, I don’t have a thing bad to say about this ball. Fantastic. Sugar, thank you for sending these out. Um, you know, they did give me the balls for free, y’all. But this is an honest review. I don’t I don’t sugarcoat it. See you later. [Music]

  1. Have you ever tried Sugar golf balls? Do you like 2-piece or 4-piece balls or do you think it doesn't really matter for high handicap golfers?
