Two professional golfers with local ties are bringing a simulator-based indoor golfing experience to Aiken.

Scott Brown and Kevin Kisner are among the partners who are planning to launch a franchise of The Back Nine Golf on the Southside.

It will open later this year in the Centre South Shopping Center between Habañero’s Mexican Grill and the U.S. Post Office’s Summerall Station.

“It will be a wonderful place to come to and hone your game and practice or to come to with your buddies during any type of weather,” Brown said.

Through its use of technology, The Back Nine Golf in Aiken will “provide an awesome atmosphere for anybody who’s wanting to improve their game,” Brown continued. “They can get their data and numbers and see how far they are hitting the ball. We’ll be running really good technology with Full Swing, which has some of the best simulators that you can get. Our equipment will be state of the art.”

Users will be able to enjoy virtual play on some of the world’s most famous fairways and greens.

“Full Swing is always adding courses,” Brown said. “There are more than 60 in the system now, and that number probably will be greater by the time we open in Aiken.”

Already on the list are St. Andrews, Pebble Beach, Bonnie Doon, Meadowbrook and Casa de Campo.

Brown, Kisner and their partners own The Back Nine Golf franchise in Augusta. It made its debut at 110 Davis Road on April 26, Brown said.

And many more franchises are in his ownership group’s future.

“The plan is for us is to open lots of them,” Brown said. “We own all the rights to South Carolina. We also have Savannah, Georgia; Athens, Georgia; Charlotte, North Carolina; and surrounding areas. The plan is to go all over the Southeast.”

The Back Nine Golf in Aiken will offer memberships, which will provide 24/7 access and other benefits.

But those who opt not to join also will be able to play.
