Wesley Bryan has opened up on his suspension from the PGA Tour after competing in LIV Golf’s “The Duels” event, describing it as an “emotional rollercoaster”.

Bryan, who balances a professional career on the PGA Tour alongside creating YouTube content with his brother George, was one of a number of creators who teed it up in the LIV influencer event alongside the likes of Dustin Johnson and Phil Mickelson. Despite being one of the biggest names in YouTube golf, his inclusion came as a surprise.

Despite losing his full PGA Tour playing status through the FedEx Cup standings in 2024, Bryan remains a conditional member and has played three times on the sport’s leading circuit this season.

He now however finds himself banned from competition after linking up with the LIV setup for the influencer event. Just over a week on from his suspension being confirmed, Bryan has taken to his YouTube channel “Bryan Bros Golf” to address the decision taken against him.

“As you can tell from the title and thumbnail,” the former RBC Heritage winner said. “I have been suspended by the PGA Tour. It’s been a difficult few weeks for us. It’s been an emotional roller coaster for sure for everybody in this cart.”

Despite the banning order, there appears to be no bad blood between the PGA Tour and the player. “Even in the midst of the little disagreement we have right now, I just wanted to make sure that we said our proper thank yous, because, again, they’ve given us so much,” Bryan added

“And when we started our YouTube journey ten-plus years ago, all we wanted to do was fund our mini-tour journey in hopes of one day playing on the PGA Tour.” Bryan went on to add that he has the right to an appeal, something he will be taking up. The 35-year-old played alongside a former PGA Tour colleague in Johnson, as the pair finished fifth out of six teams at Trump Doral.

His brother George, meanwhile, came away victorious in the nine-hole $250,000 event, beating Bubba Watson and Luke Kwon in a playoff alongside 2017 Masters champion Sergio Garcia. For Wesley he has followed in the footsteps of the likes of Garcia, Watson and his partner Johnson in being handed a ban.

Whilst The Duels was not an official LIV event, the PGA Tour has opted to take a firm stance on the world No. 250’s actions. According to a report from Golf Digest, before his suspension, Bryan was warned by Tour bosses over committing to play in the nine-hole challenge with the breakaway league.
