Min Woo Lee is closing in on his first PGA Tour title after a stunning third round at the Houston Open moved him four strokes clear heading into Sunday’s finale.

The 26-year-old is enjoying a strong start to 2025 with four top-20 finishes already, and it’s led to interest from LIV Golf despite his loyalty to the PGA Tour. Lee shot seven-under during Saturday’s round and almost aced on the ninth hole, missing the pin by inches.

Lee has been one of the most improved golfers so far this year, but former professional golfer and model, Paige Spiranac, anticipated that he would be one to watch in 2025. Lee has three wins on the DP World Tour, but after Spiranac’s early tip, he’s one round away from a maiden PGA Tour title.

Spiranac spoke to Mirror U.S. Sports in New Orleans ahead of Super Bowl LIX between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles, and was asked to name a PGA Tour player to look out for in 2025. “There are so many in the talent pool. It’s so incredibly impressive. Min Woo is one of my favorite golfers that you should look out for,” she replied.

Lee enjoyed a breakthrough 2023 season when finishing in a tie for fifth at the U.S. Open and a tie for sixth at the Players Championship. That came after winning the Victorian Open, Scottish Open, and Australian PGA Championship on the DP World Tour, and he also won the Macau Open on the Asian Tour.

However, despite looking to defend a dominant lead on Sunday, Lee’s not focused on winning at this stage of his golfing career. Lee revealed that he recently spoke with fellow golfer Jason Day, and the pair agreed that consistently being in contention is more crucial than winning a tournament while being inconsistent long-term.

“It’s just a sport where you get beat down so many times, and I haven’t been in contention too much, and when you’re there, you just want to win or obviously play well,” Lee said after his opening round at the Houston Open. “But that happens, you go backwards, and a lot of people have gone backwards, great players.

“But yeah, don’t beat yourself up and kind of just move on. You’ve got to learn from it, I think that was the big takeaway. I talked to Jason Day at the beginning of the week, and just the hard part is to get yourself in contention, that’s what people don’t realize, and I don’t do it that often.

“So, it was quite nice to be on top of the leaderboard heading into the weekend. As long as you keep putting yourself in those positions, hopefully, one week you can keep it up and hold the trophy. But yeah, I think [it’s been a] very solid season.”

Consistency is everything to Lee, who has previously admitted to struggling with form early in his career. The 26-year-old has since gained more experience and so far this season, inconsistency hasn’t been an issue.

“The consistency and the overall solidness is getting better,” Lee said. “It’s something I kind of struggled with for pretty much my whole golfing pro career, so it’s quite nice to the ball kind of going where you’re looking. And yeah, hopefully one day I can be like Viktor [Hovland] and somehow seem bad but the ball goes straight. Try and put four rounds together.”

Lee’s biggest threat heading into the final round is Alejandro Tosti, who is four strokes behind him in second. Ryan Gerard, Ryan Fox, and Scottie Scheffler are tied for third, five strokes behind Lee.
