Let’s Make Fans Matter Again! Welcome to day two of the Great NBA Reset. Jason and Jay Skapinac (aka Skap Attack) dive into potential off-season solutions the NBA could implement to create even more compelling content off the court. The NBA fan base has been completely overlooked. The media, once the voice of the fans, is now treated more like the players. But it’s the fans who fuel the NBA engine — never bite the hand that feeds you. Before that, Jason and Skap break down the two play-in games from last night. The Orlando Magic blew out the Atlanta Hawks, with Trae Young getting ejected in dramatic fashion. Meanwhile, Jimmy Butler and Steph Curry delivered the final blow as the Golden State Warriors ended the Memphis Grizzlies’ season. Do Orlando and Golden State stand a chance in the first round of the NBA playoffs? In other news, drama follows the WNBA Draft, as TCU point guard and former teammate of Angel Reese Haley Van Lith is selected by the Chicago Sky. Van Lith doesn’t seem thrilled about reuniting with Reese. Meanwhile, Rich Paul — LeBron James’ longtime friend and agent — joins “The Pat McAfee Show” and reflects on LeBron’s Miami Heat days, claiming there was never truly a “Big Three” since Chris Bosh took a backseat role for the team’s success. Jason’s not alone in rejecting a Stephen A. Smith presidential run — Charles Barkley also gives it a firm “hard no.” And Travis Hunter tells the media he still plans to play both ways heading into the 2025 NFL Draft. Tune in to a special episode of “Fearless.”

  1. Jason clearly doesn't understand how unions work that's why his idea will never work those of you that have worked for unions jobs understand why

  2. Jason Whitlock I have only 2 points to make:
1st Point: I totally get the worldview in which you want use your platform and promote how we should live the life that Jesus Christ tells us and is it is written in scripture. Unfortunately, It would be in possible for you specifically because your worldview is based on the tradition of man and not that of Christ. One simple example is "Christianity" and all the other religions you will never find in the bible, because they are all made by men and not God. God believes in being Holy and tells us to be Holy because he is Holy. This is no judgement of you at all and I totally get what you want to do, but I will state that your professional occupation probably will never allow you to truly speak on the truth of God because you would most likely lose all of your sponsorships. I am sure in your walk in faith you have heard of Pastor Gino Jennings. I'm almost certain if you invited him on as a guest with Tennessee Harmony it will make for a wonderful conversation spiritually speaking. But I have never heard you even mention his name and this man is all over the internet and YouTube. The "First Church Truth of God Broadcast" YouTube channel has a total of 111,812,002 views.
Now my 2nd point is a much lighter note, but your NBA fix is absolutely ridiculous and it really sounded like you sat down with the current commissioner and created this plan. You have to realize social media is a huge problem but it serves to masters athletes and ownership. Now I agree completely with you and the problems with the NBA. I will give you my solution on how to fix it.
1st. Remove the Supermax and media voting on post season awards because they should have such a significant impact on a player salary because none of them that votes our ever objective. You have to know the owners love the supermax and also the player movement because almost every supermax player has been or is likely to be traded and I honestly think maybe a handful or even less than that will retire with their current team the exception might be Jokic and Steph Curry. The supermax is the biggest reason the star players often are moved because the owners do not really want to pay 3 or 4 guys on one team that much money to players in this noncompetitive era of the NBA. Get rid of the draft lottery, the play in, the in season tournament too. The lottery makes no sense. If you really want to stop teams from tanking the owners and the commissioner should let the teams with the worst records draft in its rightful place but any team that have the worst record in consecutive seasons will only be eligible to pick at number 5 and if they finish with the worst record again, then they will have to trade that pick but fire the GM and Coach for failure to develop talent and you will only get a 2nd round pick. If any of the teams that were in the top 5 of the draft 3 years in a row the same will apply. So basically it will force the front office and owners to really see how bad they have ruined their own product and that should trickle down to the importance of simple fundamental basketball which will improve the players coming into the league. Load Managemnt starts with players in Jr high and high school. Regulate how many games these kids can only play. No more games that exceed 40 games. Ban AAU and replace it with basketball fundamentals for every position. This where a player can work with professional group sponsored by the NBA, NCAA, and their sponsors. This should only require practicing in the summer months after the season is over and it is done locally by each state this will keep it more grassroots and also be funded by the forementioned organizations. This only for 1 month each summer and it will only start after one month after the season ends. This will help these physically developing kids to cut down on all the unnecessary wear and tear on their young bodies. It probably sounds crazy but it isn't an example is Derrick Rose he played in more games in one high-school year than he ever played in college and you can assume all top prospects have as well which is why the One-and-done worked indirectly but fundamentals of basketball was lost on AAU. I know this was a novel but I actually believe it would work.

  3. ONE QUICK SUGGESTION TO THE NBA SCHEDULE: In FOOTBALL, you play each team once a week. Same as in the playoffs. In BASEBALL, you play each team for a 2-4 game series. Same structure in the playoffs.

The NBA should do 2-4 game series for each opponent. Same as in the playoffs. Less travel for these teams. Rivalry week can be staggered series between teams. You can even have a Christmas Day series through the New Years. If a star player sits a game to rest. He could show up the following game, so Parents can sell their tickets and purchase the next game.

Maybe after each team has played a series against each team in their division, they could have the top four teams in each conference play each other in a series, and the winner of those series can play each other for a week, and the winner of those series, can have the east vs west series to see who gets home court in the NBA finals.

I'm just saying, the structure of the regular season, should train the players how to prepare for the playoffs.

  4. I quit watching when the nba when they started pushing hip hop in mid 2000s and they started letting players act like thugs

  5. 56:53 This sounds like a video game fantasy. Just stop watching Jesus. I haven’t watched sports in like 20 years, it’s trash. Get more informed on history and what’s really going on in the world. Sheesh!

  6. What would make people more interested is: Let the fans vote for MVP. Make the FANS have the final say.

  7. Comparing Jimmy butler to klay Thompson is crazy… Jimmy butler is nowhere near klay's level in any part of Jimmy's career. What klay did for his 4 championships Jimmy couldn't do in 21 yrs

  8. I agree 💯 percent. Basketball is the easiest sport to access. You can shoot a basketball all day by yourself. All you need is a ball and hoop. The sport has grossly underachieved.

  9. We don’t need reality shows for the league’s bottom feeders. So far, the only good idea these two have is slash the season. Not enough for me. Slash it to 58 games, home and away. A rivalry week? Weak sauce.

  10. Managed to get skap to Nashville in just a couple days on short notice. Lets get Steve to the studio for a week next!
