Leading Courses users select their favourite golf venues – The Golf Business - FOGOLF

Every year, golfers from around Europe, and beyond, share their experiences, which shape the official Golfers’ Choice Rankings 2025 by Leading Courses.

Since 2013, the Golfers’ Choice Awards have celebrated the best golf courses based entirely on reviews from real golfers. No panels, no politics — just honest, data-driven insights from the people who matter most: the golfers.

This year’s rankings span 16 countries and reflect much more than just the quality of the course. Categories include overall experience, course maintenance, price-quality ratio, hospitality, clubhouse, practice facilities and restaurants — offering a complete picture of what it’s like to spend a day at each club.

Unlike traditional golf rankings, often decided by a small panel of experts, the Golfers’ Choice Awards are built on thousands of verified reviews submitted by the golfing community. This makes them the most transparent and reliable golf course rankings in Europe.

Courses are rated across nine key categories, with the final score being a weighted average that emphasises core golf elements, such as golf course layout and playability, course maintenance and conditions, and overall impression of the club. Additional factors — such as hospitality, restaurant, and value for money — add nuance but carry slightly less weight in the final score.

Based on the final rating, golf courses are awarded one of two official Leading Courses certifications:

Outstanding (8.5+) — A destination course. These clubs are truly exceptional and worth planning an entire golf trip around.

Recommended (7.5–8.5) — A trusted and highly rated experience. Perfect for those looking for quality, hidden gems, and a memorable round.
