It may look like an unsuspecting south Fort Collins storefront, but walk inside Skylark Indoor Golf Club and you’ll find yourself teed up on the ninth hole of Mississippi’s Country Club of Jackson — virtually, of course.

The forthcoming indoor club, 1514 E. Harmony Road, Unit 4, plans to open as Fort Collins’ first fully membership-based Trackman golf facility this spring, according to owner Steven Wright.

The members-only club — formerly home to a dental office — has been outfitted with three Trackman golf simulators, which host a growing library of virtual golf courses from across the world.

Once open, Skylark’s simulators will be reservable by the club’s members, with its monthly membership fees covering unlimited simulator access. While the business won’t feature a restaurant or bar, access to prepackaged snacks, nonalcoholic beverages and a coffee bar will be included in its membership fees, Wright said.

Wright said he and his wife, Ally, decided to open Skylark Indoor Golf Club due to the high demand for golf in Northern Colorado.

While he didn’t grow up golfing, Wright, 38, said he fell in love with the game as he grew older.

“I think it is the only sport out there right now that I can improve and get better at,” Wright said. “I’m not jumping any higher or running any faster these days, but I can still get better at golf.”

By opening the indoor club, Wright also said he’s not trying to compete with the area’s outdoor golf but instead add to the golf scene.

The indoor simulators allow for play during inclement weather and, while a typical 18-hole round of golf might take someone four hours on an outdoor course, a solo golfer at Skylark can play a quick 18 holes in an hour to an hour and a half, Wright estimated.

Wright said he also hopes to make the space rentable for corporate events and birthday parties.

Skylark Indoor Golf Club offers unlimited play for a monthly membership fee of $240. Discounted annual memberships are also available, as is a discounted monthly rate of $195 for the club’s first 40 members, Wright said. The club will eventually cap its membership numbers. It also plans to host some forthcoming open houses to introduce the golfing community to the concept, Wright said.
