At what handicap do you consider someone “good” at golf? 🤔 Let’s Debate! 🏌️‍♂️⛳️

Some say breaking 90 (around a 15 handicap) makes you a solid golfer, while others argue you need to be single digits to truly be considered ‘good.’ But what about scratch golfers? Or those who can break 80 consistently?

Does ‘good’ mean consistency, a low handicap, or just being better than your weekend foursome? Let’s hear it—what’s your cutoff for calling someone a good golfer?

  1. It's like chess. There's always someone way better than you. A scratch golfer feels terrible at the game. A "good" handicap is anything under 18 or scratch depending on how you look at the game.

  2. I would say someone who has a swing that gives them the same kind of contact on basically every shot. Someone that keeps getting solid yardage on almost all shots and one putts a green here or there and can sometimes get up and down. I think someone who has fun and doesn’t slow everyone down and just loves the game. Someone who has “their own game” worked out

  3. Depends on who is talking to who really lol I'm really good at golf to some of my friends and to others I'm decent at best.

  4. 18 I believe for men and 27 for women. One shot per hole plus 2 on the 9 hardest is very consistent.

  5. Hahaha I see a lot of people saying single digits and let me tell you I'm a 2.7 and I'm dogwater at this game. Good in terms of skill is just pure comparison. As a low handicap what makes a good golfer is who is having the most fun and having the least impact on other groups (playing on pace whether you get a birdie or quad bogey)

  6. I feel a lot of these comments are pretty wild. A lot of single digit hcp etc. Given that supposedly 50% of golfers never break 100, I would suggest anyone breaking 90 fairly regularly is good

  7. I reckon the answer changes as you get better. When I started and was hitting 110 plus per round, I thought 18 was good. I got to about 18 then thought 10 was good. Now I'm around 10 I think 5-7 is good. I have no doubt some people off 5 think they are only ok.

  8. Starting out playing – anyone who can hit the ball
28 handicap – anyone better than them
24 handicap- anyone better than them
20 handicap- anyone better than them
    You get the point 🤣🤣🤣
