In this video, I explain the simple technique @brysondechambeau uses to aim his putts correctly 100% of the time. This putting technique has helped me improve a ton with my putter, so I hope it can do the same for those of you watching.

  1. lol ive been using my hand i stead of the shaft of putter. been working! ive played 2 rounds of 18. hit 1 15 foot putt and a 20 foot. my 2 longest putts. glad to see my natural way of putting is kinda correct. this is the first ever putting vid ive watched, im self teaching everything. be nice if i had some golfing buddies to guve me pointers but they only other player i know has 5 rounds under his belt lol

PS, we played my 2nd round together, best ball. shot 100 at 71 par course. would of have broke 100 but had to take a drop on the last hole

  2. I have often thought the ability to correctly read a green is one of the most important aspects of golf.

  3. Good video. One thing to note: almost all putter shafts do not have a straight line and you have to determine the straight line of the shaft with something like a door jamb or similar. Then you have to orient the putter such that the straight line is being used to check your ball alignment.

  4. You lost me at “line on ball”. Been statistically proven lines for amatuers caused more missed putts than not using a line. I have been golfing for 40 yrs and used “line” method for many yrs. The day i quit using the line i started making more putts…literally.

More ppl would benefit learning how to actually read a green and start missing on the “high” side. If you cant read a green properly then you are using that “line” to line up wrong every time regardless.

  5. Ive been doing this a while and its been helping isolate problems more effectively, especially not estimating the aim and seeing the quality of the roll, seeing the ball line stay a straight line feels just as good as a flush shot

  6. Suddenly this seems so obvious. I have tried the line on the ball before but never check with the shaft. I never felt comfortable with it. I think I will try this. Thanks

  7. This is very useful, and I started doing this early in the season. Many times, I would find that my eyed up line on the ball and my aim point to be wrong, and by using the shaft of the putter, I could easily correct it.

  8. Nice video, but next time please putt the ball so we can see the result, good common sense tips which I will use but it would be nice to see the actual outcome.

  9. This is only effective for me inside 15ft. I don’t use the line on anything over that that distance and rely mostly on feel and lag it up.

  10. Good advice. This is something i've been doing for many years on every shot with every club, it's simply a way of picking an intermediate target in front of your ball (maybe 2-4 feet) that you want to start your ball path on, makes a huge difference

  11. Repeat steps 2 & 3 until your 4some gets annoyed that you're taking 3 minutes to line up a 4 ft putt and doesn't invite you next time.

  12. What happens when you hold the shaft across your body, essentially making the line fit your line like you did lol

  13. To me that was a half ball out. I always struggle when people say left edge then they putt the ball and miss it outside left and say it didn't move. Left edge to me is half of your ball inside the hole and half of your ball outside the hole.

  14. Bad title. Should be called "Dummies Guide to Lining up a Putt"
    Useful regardless.
Only thing you missed out is picking a mark in line with the hole in front of the ball that you can easily see when putting, and focussing on that not the hole- useful for medium and longer putts.

  15. I tried this today and even though I putted terribly (cause of my hammer hands) the putts I did hit good were on line and going in because of this technique. Will definitely be practicing it more and using it in the future.
