I use Vice. Just as good as Pro V1, and WAY cheaper.
Pro V1 is WAY over priced.
A realy cool shirt/poster would be all the PV1 logos! this is great stuff;
how does the "roll back" effect the R&D that has already gone into this balls extensive history? & what does that mean for the future of the PRO V1? (I lose too many balls to continuously play with Pro v1's but I have always enjoyed the feel of them)
So a table is essentially responsible for the lakeball industry. Good video!
All this work and innovation is just going to be thrown in the trash because the USGA and R&A just can’t stand that players have become stronger, more capable athletes.can’t believe this current release is the penultimate ProV before the old heads neuter the game.
Why can't you guys just call it the Pro V [year]? I don't like having to figure out Pro V1 solid arrows vs hollow arrows, etc etc. Pro V 25 and Pro VX 25 would be great. Does Pantene have Pro V trademarked or something?
I can't afford these.
10:09 does anyone else miss the titanium wood sound??
I will never forget being 15 years old and hearing about that ball for the first time. Game changer.
Great video. As a Titleiest loyalist, for 30 years, I appreciate this information. Since graduating from focusing on just my physical ability to blending that and the science of the game and equipment, I look for videos like this.
I love titleist – from balls to my entire set up is from titleist . I will never change to any other .
Best golf ball I use and never even think about changing. The feel off the driver and around the greens is outstanding. The piece in golf that I never think about switching,
ProV has always sucked. Go back to Balata, the best feeling golf ball ever.
I love playing with Pro V1 golf balls, but I refuse to pay for a 5-dollar ball, so I am always happy when I find them in the weeds!
When I retired in 2007 after 25 years in the Foreign Service I took a min. wage job a Starter a 9 hole Par 35 course (now closed) in Bristow, VA were I found a lot of golf balls in the woods. The Pro V1 an V1x were always deepest in the the woods on the left where the better players pull hook over swinging trying to get a few extra yards. I still have about 200 of them. A few are marked TEST
I love shaping shots and working at the course and playing for free as a perk gave me the opportunity to play hundreds of solo rounds practice rounds where I’d take a dozen balls and hit three straight, three fade, three draw to dial in my approach shot distances with every club from 3i to LW. The ability to shape shots was unmatched by any other ball I tried. I got to where I could open stance 45° to the left take two more clubs than for a straight shot, open it two clubs worth and ‘Bubba’ it onto the front left of the green and watch it kick and roll left to right to the back right pin.
As Jack Nicklaus explained to me — in his book Golf My Way — back in the late 80’s when I first read it shaping approach shots isn’t about the flight path but the action on the ball. Earlier this year — at age 73 — I had an approach shot on a par 5 to a short sided right left angled green from the left side of the fairway and set up so far right / one of my playing parters commented ‘you know you are aiming at that house over there’. I was using two clubs less than I need for the straight distance with face closed, landing it exactly where I had targeted (front right edge of green) it kicked hard left as planned and rolled 60ft into the hole for an Eagle 😊 The ball? ProV1 of course!
To paraphrase Lee Trevino, “You can talk to a ProV1. Those other balls just don’t listen.” 😂
It's crazy how ionomer/surlyn/urethane are still main ingredients of golf balls. Been around for decades. Surlyn and Ionomer are same material guys-just Dupont has patent over "Surlyn" name.
Two players with early success using the Pro V1 (Andrade, Faxon) just happened to grow up less than 30 miles of Ball Plant 3. Pretty cool !
Um…. Wouldn't it have made sense to switch to the name ProV 2 And then 3 along the way? Just to eliminate the consumer confusion? I mean, if it's always going to stay Pro version 1, why even have the 1? Or even the V? Just Titleist Pro would have been sufficient, if there's never going to be a V2. Right?
So iconic that even the issue number hasn’t changed. With all the innovation it should be called the Pro-V6 or 8 or 19 by now, but it’s still the Pro-V1. Amazing. Fantastic that Titleist are still manufacturing in the US. I’m a Brit and am definitely envious, but even so that makes my heart swell with pride for you guys. Always love finding a Titleist ball when I’m playing! Currently playing with DT Trusoft, will go back to Pro-V1 when I’ve ironed my swing out!
Titleist is a good product. But I'll be damned if I pay 55 dollars a dozen for em! They're too greedy! When is enough enough??
Fantastic look back at the #1 ball in golf. I still have a few of the original Pro V1s on my shelf. Time to test the OG versus the new ‘25 version!
Titleist is all around just the best golf company in the world. They aren’t cheesy or over dramatic. Everything is class and performance.
I almost feel spoiled because I played Pro V1s when I was a kid and my dad played exclusively Acushnets and Balatas in his childhood. The jump in technology is incredible and I didn't even know the V stood for Veneer. Amazing video.
25 years of innovation, 20 minutes of schlocky commercial masquerading as a YouTube video.
Apparently it has to be overpriced enough to pay for the pros to play them for free too.
I’m partial to avx. I love the super low spin for drives. I can never find any of the left dash balls around me
Nothing has better stopping power than a Vokey Wedge striking a ProV1.
That's that pro baby, that's that v, baby, number 1 baby get in the hole right there, let's get this right here.
The original HP2 Tour ball deserves some recognition too. Hell of a ball thats been forgotten
I was deployed for OIF with a guy who was an army reservist for an almost 2 yr deployment. He worked for titleist (i think in Connecticut). They paid his salary while he was deployed. I've been a big fan ever since.
Cool video. You can see these people pour their heart and soul into working at Titleist. I never thought a ball would make so much difference. I was playing a non Titleist ball 18 months ago when I went for a driver fitting. My drives were ballooning and dispersion was all over the place. The fitter put down a Titleist ball and told me to hit it. Lower flight, lower spin, straight and LONG. It was a 2022 AVX. I bought a dozen that day. Then bought the 2024 AVX when it was released and played it for the next few months. My handicap dropped 1.5 shots. A mate gave me a sleeve of 2023 Pro V1 and my game improved even more. Another 1.5 shots off my handicap. I’m down to single digit which was always my goal and Titleist balls were a big part of that. I’ll be lining up for a dozen of the new Pro V1 when they are released in Australia, they are the best by miles.
I absolutely LOVED the Titleist Professional but I have always hated the Pro V1.
I will never forget “seaming” the first batch of pro v’s. Seem DTL for the drive and sideways on the irons. It was like cheating! The left dash is like the next evolution. Miles better than anything else out there.
Make a matte orange ones … easier to see in the winter months.xd
Now I am reflecting back on my early days and I feel bad in a way because they are putting so much work in and yet so many of my Pro V1s have wound up OB or in the drink unfortunately 😂
Now I see why Titleist took such good care of Moe Norman! These people are passionate!
