▶︎ ABOUT ZACH ALLEN ◀︎
Hi I’m Zach, thank you for visiting my channel. My goal here is to help you play the best golf of your life while having as much fun as possible!

I’m a PGA-certified golf instructor and have been coaching since 1997. I’ve been named a Golf Digest “Best Young Teacher,” a GolfTips Magazine “Top 25 Golf Instructor,” and Southern California PGA’s Teacher of the Year. I’ve worked with golfers of all ages and levels, from 4-year-old beginners on up through touring professionals. My students have included nationally-ranked juniors, touring pros, celebrities, and CEOs, but wherever you’re at on your golfing journey, my goal is always the same… to help YOU play your best golf!

I started playing competitive golf at a young age, ultimately reaching #3 in the California junior golf rankings – just behind another promising young golfer named Tiger Woods. I also played collegiate golf at the University of Southern California and professional golf on the Omega Asian Tour.

I work with students in-person at my studio in Valencia, CA, and teach golfers all around the world through my YouTube channel and on my website: ballstrikingblueprint.com. Thanks for stopping by and drop me a comment if you have any questions or would like to get in touch!

  1. This is a great lesson, Zach. When I was playing my best (2 hcp) I always had a noticeable pause at the top, but not as noticeable as Im or Matsuyama. I practice in my house every day holding my swing at the top and making sure I feel everything in the right place and muscles stretching where they should. I sometimes add a couple of Hovland pumps to feel the proper initiation of the downswing motion, too. I noticed that when I'm unable to smoothly hold my position at the top it's because my balance is off or the club got too far outside on the way back (my biggest problem). By stopping at the top you have a chance to make corrections before moving down, or aborting the swing if it can't be saved. This is a highly useful suggestion and I haven't seen other online instructors talking about it.

  2. Thanks for drawing our attention towards thinking about this. I got an overswing out of the blue and it has been hard to ascertain what is the true cause of it because it is persisting despite my best efforts. Think this might work for now. I find I can pause in the right place but as soon as I add dynamics again – my poor transition comes back. Achieving this dyamically seems to be the secret sauce. Though I can pause, it is really difficult for me because so much of my swing feels and understanding havecome from good dynamics like stepping and the club loading at the change of direction.

  3. Funny I was thinking about this yesterday and youtube suggested your video today. Hurmmmm. Excellent explanation. Subscribed and liked.

  4. Zac, another great video and excellent explanation of a concept that I have struggled with for many years. As long very consistent with your right arm throwing lessons. Well done. Thanks.
