  1. Lots to learn hear…but I my done this is the easiest way to get your head around what can be a complex part of golf! STRIKE STRIKE STRIKE

  2. I'm struggling with this at the moment …go through positions in slow motion but as soon as I try to do it as a normal swing I release to early …high launch short distance…and often hit fat…

  3. I really like the video but i don’t understand the thumbnail image. It looks like you’re saying you want the toe up. I didn’t see that explained in the video. Thanks.

  4. Ok im confused. 7 iron is suppose to be ahead of centerline?? Hell ive been golfing 30 years wrong with 7 iron behind center trying to hit down. Anthing front of center for less than 5 iron i find you are lofting and scooping ball

  5. Great tip, Alex. I am actually doing that motion as part of my preshot routine and my game has transformed. Sadly, I had to rework all my distance stats for all my clubs, cos' this has added substantial distance across the board. But the strike feels solid and my dispersion has tightended. Thanks a lot for confirming.

  6. Might as well use a cricket bat as your drill then by the looks of it. ??
Ignoring that this is a drill, so many people are being forced down this route of more wrist rotation and hitting down, yet for mid and longer irons, we never talk about the necessary changes to bounce angles on these longer clubs. Yet we do with wedges.

  7. Just make a box at the top of your swing. Keep the box on the down swing. (Ernie Els). All this stuff will just scramble your brain which is the last thing you need in golf.

  8. My take on the swing.
    1) On takeaway, club head outside the hands don’t break wrists till past right leg, like putting.
2)Weight shift just before top of swing,
    3) shallow the club on downswing, club head is inside the hands, trail knee wins the race to the ball, head position is behind the ball at impact ear to the ground,
    4) feel like your throwing the club/ snap the wrists on releasing the club. Most amateurs don’t snap the wrists which promotes more power.
    5) Look at Rory and xander and Fred couples for examples.
Golf swing is very much like a painting motion.

  9. Shaft lean is directly related to trajectory. There is no “standard” shaft lean. If I want to lob it, I might be negative. If I want to hit it low, I may be at 12* to 15* of lean. I have found, with many students over many years, that teaching trajectory, which leads to face and thus ball control, is the best way to teach shaft lean. What’s 6* to 10* degrees mean? What’s it relate to? It doesn’t describe a shot, right? What’s the mental stimulus/task to give the brain so that it produces the lean for the shot needed for the situation at hand? Merely teaching someone about shaft lean is irrelevant if there isn’t a task associated with it. How’s that make anyone play better by creating shots? Asking for a friend 😂 love the channel Alex.

  10. Drill #2 is a massive chicken wing. Shaft lean is easy releasing the club is much more important. Buy s as divot board and create divots in front of the ball image. Fire this guy and teach yourself the only essential element in golf. His dragging the club head behind the hands is as big a disaster as early release.

  11. I've been working on shaft lean in my setup (with some improvement) but have started to wonder if it's necessary. Isn't the shaft lean created by holding the shaft angle on the down swing, keeping hands in front of the club head at impact, and forward weight shift? I'm wondering if presetting the shaft lean is necessary (and unnatural) in the setup and creates one more thing to think about and manipulate… planning to try a couple things at the driving range like having the shaft as a natural extension of my lead arm in relation to the ball position, holding the angle on the down swing, and forward weight shift.

What am I missing, am I way off base on this?

  12. For those who tweak but still not able to apply ? It is your club face square contact end of the day. You must understand how to hit and end up with the right club face square contact but your wrist and swing remain proper finishing.
