  1. Found a cunning middle ground, 6 iron, TM 5 GAPR Mid (lots of help but no roll and bulge), then into a 22 hybrid on a flat setting (decent player, do hit down onto it, but like the extra help this setup gives me)

  2. I can't for the life of me hit my hybrid, all it does it hook. Might have to invest into a utility iron instead

  3. Mark, I watched for 6 years. Your speed is great! Are you scoring better? I can’t improve distance without losing accuracy

  4. Scotty hits a zillion balls, lifts weights has a pretty good swing, mind like a steel trap🤔 yup i would hit the iron

  5. I have a hybrid and I can never hit the damn thing straight just hooks, I want to be able to use it but I haven’t been able to game it. I’ve now resorted to a 5 wood as I have little to no issues hitting my 3 wood

  6. Which is why my 21° hybrid is the least used club in my bag, and my 'tour cavity' 4i one of the clubs I gravitate to the most… I play a natural draw, my miss is a big hook, I hit down on everything (take often a sizeable divot with my 4 wood). I regret my fitter(s) didn't think and look at stuff the way you do, Mark. I would have been better off with a 20° utility iron (with very little offset) than what I have… and don't use.
Well, at least I know what to look at next time I upgrade the upper part of my bag (next year maybe… unless I do the wedges first, they're past their prime, too).

  7. 6 iron is my longest and 5,4,3 hybrids and 4 wood. My 6 iron and 5 hybrid are close in distances but I can deliver the ball more precise with the hybrid as usually hit it with a bunch of backspin. However when I want to hit a low stinger I need the 6 iron, the hybrids are launching pretty high. An interesting video again Mark! Thanks!

  8. I have a Srixon ZU85 #4 iron, stiff kbs tour shaft and all, and it's so easy to use compared to standard long irons, like comparing apples to oranges. Scottie uses p7TW muscleback irons up to the 5 iron and two of these Srixon utility irons for long irons. Can't say as I blame him either! It seems looking at all the WITB pictures from the Tour most guys play a slightly mixed set of irons, especially in the longer irons. Makes perfect sense really.

  9. Am I a weirdo? I use both a 19deg hybrid and 18deg 2iron(same model as scottie), I love them both for different things but if I was forced to choose I ditch the 2i. The 2i's downfall is whenever its a scuddy lie the confidence drops, off the tee/flat fairway i love it though

  10. I have a 21° utility iron (essentially a 4-iron) and a 19° hybrid in my bag and my experience is almost exactly as you’ve described it in this video Mark. The hybrid tends to go straighter and left, and the iron will almost invariably fade right. Granted they are for slightly different distances, but I have found that gripping down on the hybrid and playing an 80% shot gets me almost the same result as using the iron – just more on target. I’m even considering switching the iron for a 21° or 22° hybrid.

  11. There is a place for these clubs. The better golfer the less they will notice the difference. I had a 2H and a 2i in last year and off the tee they were identical flights. Off deck, the Hybrid was much easier for MY delivery

  12. The variant is swing speed. If you perform the test with a swing of 80 mph, you will find the iron distance drops.
That’s the benefit to older players or those who have a slower speed for whatever reason. A hybrid gets height and distance while the iron doesn’t.
