Does the time start when I start looking for the ball or when I arrive in the approximate area? Because honestly I’m looking for the ball as soon as I start walking. Maybe I’ll be able to see it 100m away as I’m scanning fairway and rough and I’m also covering area the ball may have bounced backwards to.

Pro tip: often when you're looking for a lost ball, it actually landed just on the edge of the fairway about a foot away from the rough. It's wild how you never notice it until no one else is looking.
3 mins is a joke since if you dont have caddies it could be 50 yards futher on than you are looking
