Many amateur golfers make the same practice swing — especially in the rough — regardless of how their ball is sitting in the grass.
If you have a great lie, sweeping the top of the grass is fine, but if you’re met with a more difficult lie, find a patch of grass that is similar to where you ball is resting and make the appropriate practice swing for the shot you want to hit.
