  1. I would mention that as a viewer, I would rather watch whoever is playing good golf in that particular event, rather than watch a "top name" player who gets an automatic entry (i.e. an appearance fee) – especially if that player has a bad week. They all deserve a chance…..

  2. The mindset of the PGA, MLB and others organizations (F1) govern with arrogance. They are not the game, the govern the game.

  3. The issue with televised golf has been highlighted by the explosion of Youtube Golf. 4 day stroke play tournaments are very very linear. Remove Monday Qualifiers … pure lunacy. Highlight Monday Qualifiers. Golfers pull for the underdog we all know how difficult the game is. Highlight Monday Qualifiers. Showcase those qualifiers. Celebrate their achievement. Tell us about those guys. As ever Padraig is 100 % right.

  4. Why not have a Monday qualifier with 100 players on Monday and 5-10 spots get into the tournament that week. You have to create a pathway for new stars to emerge.

  5. Paddy – deep down knows the suits have lost touch on how to run a great tour — LiV came in and boulders thru is field and now they have minimal – great players playing every tournament — it’s a walking talking circus 🎪—that is going to be putting its hand out ✋🏽 for 💰 💰 from all angles …sponsors/tv / golf brands ..anything they can think of … to keep what they think is ahead in the game !!
In my opinion – the LivgolF league _ tournaments are perfect tv viewing & ideal for the best players in the world to all get together and thrive -top 60 players in the world at the end of the season all get the opportunity to join a franchise and play LivgolF events – and Liv would be happy to play their events on off weeks of the pga tour ! #notreallyrocketscience … but the scabs 👨‍💼 #pgatour will hold on to there cocks for as looong as they can

  6. People do not realise how hard it is to make a living outside the top 50.This will mean we will loose players lower down the list that may have come through to being higher players. These players are on so much more pressure when playing.

  7. Paddy's right about LIV with respect to seeing the top players. They've got probably 10 of the top 30 in the game playing every tournament plus a bunch of other big names/legends.

  8. I thought i was the only one thinking the new policies were just a way to keep the upper echelon just that. Less competition is called a monopoly.

  9. Tiger and others taught so many to play slow and the tour has no guts to warn the players let alone penalize them . Don’t have rules if they won’t be enforced . How many shots were hit on the pga tour this year and how many slow play penalties were given out ?

  10. This guy clearly doesn’t understand the business—it’s a business, and ratings are plummeting because no one wants to watch a mule race on the weekend

  11. Having grown up watching decades of golf both live and on TV, I now mostly watch YouTube golf. The reason is the TV product has become so boring. They have no idea on how to present the game.

  12. Padraig's somewhat talking against his own point here, when he talks about a no-cut LIV. If the "best" (biggest names) don't make it into the tournament, they don't deserve to be there in my opinion. That leaves room for perhaps a lesser-known player to make it in, who's playing better golf at that time, and deserves to be recognised as having done so. Surely that's what golf is all about, and why we play the game.

  13. PGA isn’t good with current times. They could make even more greed money by showing Monday qualifiers and Wednesday pro am on YouTube. Just don’t let the guy who does their highlights do it. That editing team couldn’t tell a story with a pre written script.

  14. The only way to solve the slow play issue is to play fucking faster! There is no excuse for 3 balls at 10 minute intervals on a full field with a two tee start to take more than four and a half hours to play. Take LIV as a great illustration, shot gun start, one group per hole and still take 5 hours for a 3 ball. The players are to blame, but, with the money involved are we surprised they take time to reduce mistakes

  15. I totally agree with Paddy..The worst part is, they are making these decisions, but leveraging the viewer pulling power of someone like Wesley Bryan, is ignored, in fact they are going the other way and on purpose not showing him at all? I hope the sponsors pick up on this and put their money in the one place that they can get a proper return..YouTube golf.

  16. The lpga is the best golf on network tv. Great players, really great players. Great personalities from vastly different backgrounds. Their tournaments are highly competitive and almost always go down to the wire. Merritt based – if you can play , you have a chance. That's what attracts most people to golf in the first place

  17. If you want to improve slow play, just let the pros use distance measuring devices. They’re part of the game for everyone else who plays.

  18. It’s now officially the Elitist Sport! No more Monday Qualifiers? No Chance for the Weekend Golfing Dad with a +6 Handicap that wasn’t raised with a Club in Hand.
Makes me not wanna watch the so called Pros anymore on Tv

  19. Why not actually talk to a player for an hour? Do youbreally have something more important to talk about?

  20. One thing people realise quick is that an irishman will speak his mind. Not everyone will agree with it but thats their choice.
For every golfer that came from money or that had an easy run their are hundreds if not thousands grafting and struggling to make their dream. Its the ones that make it and have struggled to get there are the ones that know what Harrington means when hes talking about the monday qualifying.

  21. The PGA is turning into a joke. Taking away 25 cards is ridiculous especially when the top guys are making this decision. There are so many things they could try before resorting to taking jobs away.
