The Penn State Nittany Lions football team advanced to the second round of the College Football Playoff on Saturday in a cold and windy White Out environment at Beaver Stadium. The team defeated the SMU Mustangs for the right to face Boise St. in the Fiesta Bowl on New Year’s Eve. Recap and relive the game today with the BWI Live Show. Experts Sean Fitz and Nate Bauer were at the game on Saturday and give you their thoughts about how the team performed and what it all means for its chances of reaching the championship game.

With the holidays upon us, the BWI Live schedule will shift over the next two weeks. We’ll have a live show today and Friday, Dec 27. Then, we’ll be back on Dec 30 for a game preview, followed by a recap show later in the first week of January.

The best way to know when we go live during the holidays is to subscribe to the Blue White Illustrated YouTube Channel and enable notifications. That way, you’ll receive an alert every time we go live, post breaking news, commitments, press conferences, and more!

Penn State transfer portal news
Today’s show will primarily be a recap of the game, but there’s always something else percolating in the background for Penn State football in December. We’ll start the show with the latest news, including where former quarterback Beau Pribula will land in the transfer portal. We’ll also give you the latest highlights from the recruiting and portal news for the team’s acquisition efforts.

White Out Crowd Delivers
Next, we’ll discuss the team’s win over SMU in the first round of the playoffs. Despite concerns that Beaver Stadium would be half-empty in the leadup to the game, the crowd of over 100,000 fans delivered. We’ll discuss the impact of the noise and the cold on SMU. We’ll also recap the defensive performance with the defensive line’s dominant effort against the Mustangs.

However, one component of that conversation that’s missing is the offense. What should fans make of the performance in the cold on Saturday? We’ll recap the team’s rocky start, the run game’s dominance, and another bumpy game from the passing attack.

  1. Frank – you referenced other QBs handling the weather better than Drew did this weekend? Who? The closest environment wether wise was OSU and the wind was nearly the same

  2. As happy as I am about Penn State, I grieve that I need such distractions, in a world so forlorn.
We used to be inspired by great men, and great ideals, and now we follow children, like children.
I am sad and ashamed of what passes for manhood, and who I have become, along with most otger " mature men."

  3. My POV: Coach K is the chess player – whose first couple of moves are aimed to determine what the other side actually is… and how they’re operating at that moment.
Once his first several play calls are done, he has a much better feel for what he needs to call for the Lions to be successful.

  4. I apologize for the ribbing on the Orange Bowl back on Saturday. Needed to be optimistic and consider the looking ahead prudently following the Fiesta Bowl.😊

  5. Congrats to Nicholas closing in on Matt Suhey for #11 PSU all-time rushers (2818). Singleton #12 with 2741. Kaytron slips into #13 2661 yards for his career. And the only Nittany Lion Heisman winner John Cappelletti #14 with 2639.

  6. If we get passed Boise and get into January practices the early enrollment class can practice with the team. Can the transfer portal pickups practice with the team as well?

  7. Nate are u looking for a babysitter? My mother in law’s available. Works for free as long as u have a couple of 6 packs, a Hickory Farms beef stick, a bag of Middlesworth plain potato chips, and access to the Hallmark channel.

  8. Admiring T-Frank's home improvement projects! 👍 👍 Leaving the risers as stained wood or painting them white?

  9. The RB production from the 2022 class is going to be missed even if the next guys are great as well.. 5,402 rushing yards and 52 rushing touchdowns. 1,151 receiving yards and 12 receiving touchdowns…hell, they even have 1013 return yards ( Allen has 41 so mostly Singleton) and a return TD….one rb recruiting class produced 6,553 yards and 64 touchdowns on offense in ( I believe) 40 games for Penn State. Has to be one of the better single position recruiting classes by production for Penn State ever. We are all going to really miss these guys, and I don't think we appreciate it enough.
