  1. Shaft lean shifts the low point more toward the target side of the ball. This means you're more likely to hit the ball first and then the ground. Additionally, shaft lean ensures that the hands lead the clubhead, making the movement more repeatable. It’s easier to maintain direction when you’re pulling something rather than pushing it. That’s why, for example, the steering wheel in most cars is positioned in front.
    When your hands are ahead of the ball, you're effectively pulling the club through impact. However, if the clubhead gets ahead of your hands, inconsistent strikes are the inevitable result.
