Justin Herbert gets a pass because he’s tall, white, has a big arm and threw for a lot of yards.
At some point you do have to win something meaningful though like literally something anything bros always talked about in such high standard but doesn’t have a single significant win in his career
It’s not all on Herbert, but I do somewhat sympathize with the “Okay Justin, we see all the talent, can you show us a little more?” Now I know Nick is doing it in bad faith (he just wants to glaze Mahomes) but as someone who has no skin in the game, I do wish I seen more from Herbert than just potential.

The bigger story I think is Baker Mayfield. Even the biggest Baker Mayfield fans didn't expect this game to be this lopsided. As for Herbert, I'm gonna give him grace. The Chargers are playing a slightly different style than before with a 1st year coach. The stats are down for J Herbo because the Chargers are running the ball more. Harbaugh is a run the ball, ball control coach. That's how he wins and they've had a good year. I thought they would have a good year all along. They've done well. I'm not gonna kill Herbert. Not at all. He wasn't amazing, but I won't say he played like shit either. He didn't. Leave Herbert alone, Nick haha he's transitioning
You sound like Nick with your Baker Mayfield hate 🤣. Take Justin Jefferson away what is Sam Darnold. Take AJ Brown away, what is Hurts. Take Chase away, what is Burrow? If you could have any of those receivers are you taking a 33 year old Mike at the end of his career? You taking him 2nd? Probably not. Mike is an all time great but to say he’s the same dude from 3-5 years ago in his prime is kind of wild. Mike is not having a 1000 yard season with Winston in his current age and missing 3 games and being hurt for 3. Baker threw to 7 different receivers last game. Nobody is saying Baker is more talented than Herbert, but is he better? So far in his career. Yes. We like to act like Baker has always had these weapons. Guess what he was out his two top receivers for 3 games and was still performing at a high level. You even mentioned how you were impressed by that. So you do the same thing as Nick and tear down Baker because you think Herbert is “better”. The NFL is “what have you done for me lately”. What has Herbert done since his rookie year. Does Herbert have a higher ceiling than Baker?? Who knows. Have we seen Bakers ceiling yet having the best season of his career?

You bring up the Chiefs/Mahomes way too much. The Chiefs are the 2x defending champs. Theyre above comparing anybody to them or Mahomes
What the Chargers want to do offensively is Rush for 160 yards a game, 100 bare minimum and pass for 160-200. They have not been able to hold up the rushing end of the deal especially with no dobbins which severely caps the ceiling for the team. Every game is largely the same. First half, chargers can't run, they go with the pass and it works well against zone coverage. 2nd half comes around, opposing teams switch to blitz heavy defense and man coverage. CHargers don't have the receivers to beat man coverage and get completely shut down. They had to sacrifice their playmakers to build for the future and the winning scheme with the talent depleted roster was supposed to be balanced offense and defense with little upside for explosive plays. Now we are in a situation where Herbert has been asked to overcome the schematic challenges and its led to him getting beat up bad. If they can't solve the run game, Herbert might not make it out of this season without going on IR.
This is a rebuild and next year it will be harder for the Chiefs
