For many golfers, the 3-wood is often considered the most challenging club in the bag. Its length and low loft make it tricky to hit consistently off the fairway.
If you’re finding it difficult to use your 3-wood, you’re not alone. With just one simple adjustment, you can start hitting it more effectively—and the best part? It’s an easy fix!
In this video, I break down some full swing data and share straightforward concepts that can transform your fairway wood game.

What a lovely flat perfect lie you have 👍👍
Well done Chris 👏 😊
I can do the oppsite because never learn how to shot the Ball is Tee up…
Great video as always Chris. Fairway woods always a struggle for us high handicappers especially of the ground. Love the landing a plane thought, will try that next time. I have found not gripping the club too hard is also a big help.
Great instructions and illustrations Chris! This answers my issue with 3W.
Awesome Chris!!! I'd gladly take a full swing launch monitor thought if you're feeling like giving one away during this Christmas season 😜
Does it ever happen to me, when doesn’t it.😂
Great Vid Chris
One of the best
So so useful
I use my 3 wood as driver so I have driver swing and I never use 3 wood of the fairway 😀 so I still have only one 3 wood swing!
Would the intent and technique be any different with a 4 hybrid? Thank you very much.
"Brilliant " as usual, thank you 😊
One of your best Chris.
very clear explanation! TY
You know instead of a professional smashing it, for a change id like to see a video of a real session with some old man with coming back ver the top with 180 yard drives, and show the conversion, preferably in one lesson, to the old guy driving it 300. Thats what its about isnt it?
The most important setup change for me with fairway woods off the deck was shoulder tilt. Feeling like my shoulders were more level at address (rather than having tilt like with a driver) improved my strike with FW's and hybrids almost immediately.
