IRELAND’s Shane Lowry will now take a well earned break after a hugely consistent 2024 season.
The Offaly icon had a fantastic season on the PGA Tour after a ninth place finish on the FEDEX Cup ladder before Sunday’s end to the DP World Tour campaign.

Lowry and McIlroy won the Zurich Classic team event but the Offaly star failed to win an individual event on the PGA Tour
The 2019 Open champion netted €8.73 million between both tours.
He went on to have 7 top 10s on the PGA Tour, and equalled all-time major low-round at the USPGA Championship at Valhalla.
The Clara ace also secured a win alongside Rory McIlroy at the Zurich Classic in April – the only team tournament on the tour’s rota.
He only missed the cut on twice on the American based tour during the 2024 season.
The 37-year-old was in contention for three of the four major heading into the final round this season.
The world number 28 had two third-placed finishes and finished between fourth and 10th on five occasions, underlining his remarkable consistency.
But duel-tour ace Lowry says he’s a little frustrated he didn’t get over the line for an individual win on either the DP World Tour of PGA Tour.
Offaly star Lowry was speaking after his T3 place finish at end of season DP World Tour Championship on Sunday in Dubai.
He said: “I feel I’d like to have won [individually] and feel like I could have with the golf I’ve played.
“But I showed this year that I still have a lot of good golf in me.
“I feel like I gave a good account of myself in the Majors this year and the big events.
Sky Sports commentator slams Ryder Cup star Tyrrell Hatton as a ‘terrible influence’ for snapping a club in anger
“It’s all going the right direction, and hopefully the future is bright.”
While Lowry’s 2025 schedule is yet to be finalised, he’s unlikely to play in a tournament until mid-January after securing his status into the Signature events for next season.
It’s a huge year for European and US players with Ryder Cup qualification already underway.
And Lowry admits qualification will be his main goal for next season.
Next year’s edition will take place at the infamous Bethpage Black GC, which located just outside New York.
Lowry added: “The forefront of my mind is the Ryder Cup next year.
“I really want to be part of that side – and I want to be part of a winning side.
“So I’ll do everything I can over the next nine months to do that and hopefully get the job done.”
