I figured what better place to test it out then my home course of Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club. I wanted to be able to verify the accuracy of the shots along the way so I setup the UNEEKOR EYE XO to play along side to compare data.

The Approach R10 uses radar to analyze several metrics like your club path, launch angle, ball speed, and estimated distances and direction. It does not use GPS, but based on its placement to the ground, it will be able to provide shot data without GPS data or elevation information. The accuracy for the radar metrics are outlined below.

Garmin R10 Radar Accuracy

Measured by radar

Club head speed accuracy: +/- 3 mph
Ball speed accuracy: +/- 1 mph
Launch angle accuracy: +/- 1 degree
Launch direction accuracy: +/- 1 degree

Calculated by algorithm

Club face angle accuracy: +/- 2 degrees
Apex height accuracy: +/- 5 feet
Carry distance accuracy: +/- 5 yards

The accuracy depends on proper placement of the Approach R10.

With the Approach R10’s new Training Mode feature, golfers can track stats for each club and easily break down a slick shot dispersion chart based on estimated ball flight.1 Once training is out of the way, users can take their game worldwide with the Home Tee Hero simulator and enjoy friendly weekly tournaments with all the scores posted to a leaderboard on the Garmin Golf app.2 What’s more, automatically recorded video clips showing real stats overlaid on each shot can be stored in the cloud so golfers can see and analyze their own swing.

And with the introduction of the Garmin Golf app premium membership, Approach R10 owners can take advantage of a free 30-day trial to virtually test out courses before a trip or courses close to home with the Home Tee Hero golf simulator. In addition, premium members receive access to weekly tournaments that offer a new random course every week. The Approach R10 also provides direct compatibility with the E6 CONNECT library3 of content with photorealistic courses that can be played at any time to enhance the overall golfing experience.

The Approach R10 includes a versatile phone mount that golfers can easily attach to a golf bag or place on the ground as a kickstand to improve viewing during play and accessibility with the Garmin Golf app. And with up to 10 hours of battery life, golfers can play longer with the Approach R10. Available now, the Approach R10 portable golf launch monitor has a suggested retail price of $599.99.

  1. I'm so excited for this device. I signed up to Garmin email list. They say it should be available in 5-8 weeks. Fingers crossed. Once again, top content. I appreciate your videos

  2. Have you tried the difference between standard length irons and one length irons and see how that works on the R10

  3. Any recommendations on it being accurate it says I have hit my 5 iron 163 yards and that is not true. Do I not have it far enough from the net to the mat and the mat to the garmin r10?

  4. Trying to decide between the Garmin R10 and the Sky Trak…obviously a lot of this is based on the costs but from what I’ve seen, you get a lot of bang for your buck with this Garmin R10…thoughts or feedback? I’d be setting up in the garage with ample space, just worried/concerned that this is alot more accurate outdoors than indoors.

  5. Jay, they just release a 3.80 update for the R10 today. In the release notes it states "Support outdoor spin rate measurement". I take this to mean that it can now calculate the spin outdoors instead of calculating the spin. Have you hear any new information from your contacts/sources?

  6. I think I’m sold on the R10. Been comparing monitors for a few weeks and I think this is the best choice for me, a novice golfer looking for enough accurate feedback to improve my hitting and get some idea of my club distances.

  7. I turned mine on for the first time tonight. I’m not sure if I had it on level enough ground because the distances were dramatically off for me. I was absolutely creaming my 4 iron and it said it was only going 140. Which is an 8 iron for me on the course. I need to try it in a few different settings

  8. I watch your videos all the time and never realized you're from Michigan. I miss the Buick at Grand Blanc. I'm from Adrian Michigan and on a fixed income so the low Dollar simulators are the market I'm looking at. Optishot is from Michigan

  9. Great video ! Does the new update changed the problems the R10 had to get the effects on the ball ?

  10. Have never tried a golf simulator. This is probably a stupid question but how do you know where to aim?

  11. What specific AV did you use in this video? I just received my R10 and plan on having an indoor set up similar to what you used.

  12. Im pretty sure home tee hero can now be played horizontally if you flip screen. Will it work with projector now?

  13. Does the distances read better with the rct balls now that the new software update is out I just ordered my R10 yesterday and wondering if I need the rct to read better for hitting into a net in my garage or not…. Thanks in advance

  14. Great Video. I just got Garmin r10. Looking forward to playing some courses. Great Video Thanks

  15. Imo the new landscape view isn’t as good at portrait mode. It just makes the view at ground level .

  16. Can this be transfered to a laptop? Or a tv. If I take it outside in my backyard instead of having it play on phone or tablet?
