It’s the middle of the week on a bye week. But yesterday’s Board of Regents meeting gave us some answers as to where Brent Venables sits and his future. President Joe Harroz and AD Joe Castiglione both went on record lending support to Venables. We talk about the road forward. What happens to the quarterback room? Where we see Oklahoma looking for an offensive coordinator. What would it mean to buy out Venables now? Both financially and program stability. There are a lot of numbers thrown around. But the true cost is much, much higher. We still haven’t seen in cracks in the recruiting front and signing day is just a few weeks away. And what does signing day even look like now? Lots to go over in this week’s edition of the Unofficial 40.
THE FULL RUNDOWN FOLLOWS BELOW:

If I could buy anything, I would buy the Dallas Cowboys, to get Jerry Jones away from that franchise so they actually have a chance.
From What I am understanding from this conversation is when OU decided to go to the SEC, they voluntarily made themselves the Oakland A's. If their idea of being "competitive" means being the 10th best SEC team in NIL, then OU is FUCKED and should never have left the Big 12.
Slightly off-topic: 1. I sold my wife’s and my Rolex’s when she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s
2. Ordered turkey day meat from Schwab‘s in OKC and they’re shipping it to Texas free with a secret password..
Stop hiring feel-good hires. Employ people with no connection to the University that are expendable
Congrats on the Rolex allocation!
George obviously never smoked Reggie
QBs are struggling because they have terrible coaching and no confidence in the OL. Not a good combination
Guys 1:14:00 I’m in a massage chair at the gym and literally LOL😂😂😂. These people are probably wondering what’s so damn funny.
Wear the watch
I think if South Carolina wins out they make a run in the playoff
Get the best QB we can find in the portal, keep Hawkins and Arnold and redshirt them both next year.
Tulane isn’t going to the playoffs, even as a g5, they already have 2 losses, the g5 is either going to be Boise state or army
If Brent comes back next year, it feels a lot like Mike McCarthy this year with the Cowboys. How many coaches in a put up or gets fired year actually turn things around?
I am not convinced George and Frankie Borrelli from barstool foreplay are different people
Dan Mullin is an interesting option. Does he enjoy recruting? Does he want to step back into this version of college football?
I don't understand the fire Venables stance. Premature firing is the direction you take to be the next Nebraska. Being impatient and not letting a coach build his program is the worst thing you can do. Three years is not enough, especially with needing to build the team up to be SEC ready. Sure, it has been embarrassing, but I think the members of the fan base calling for a new HC need to take a step back and truly process what that means. More than likely it means next season will be worse than this and another rebuild because of the number of players that'll leave. The offense might be a mess but BV has every other part of the team headed in the right direction. Make a good OC hire and give him the money he needs and I think we'll see things turn around next year. Plus, you learn the most from the difficult times.
The separation from greatness to the shit we're in is not all that high IMO. I remember folks dunking on Shane Beamer and calling 2024 his hot seat year. Brent is a good coach, fix the back field and 1-2 pieces on DL, and then give the new OC full latitude on the scheme. OC would probably retain some of the offensive staff… Letting Bill go, to me, would be a maniacal move.
Great choice in watches. 💎
Best OU content
During the Fun-n-Gun days, QB would be Heisman favorite and next week Spurrier would have em 3rd or 4th string!! Lol.
