Hi I’m Rick Shiels, welcome to my channel RickShielsPGAGolf. This YouTube channel is designed to help you play better golf, also to help you enjoy your golf more!
I specialise in golf club reviews, golf club unboxing, golf club news, golf club head to heads, and all about golf clubs.
I also want to make you play better golf by providing coaching video on all topics about golf, how to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts!
On this channel I also make fun and entertaining golf content based on crazy and sometimes “gimmicky” golf clubs. I like to cut through the marketing hype about products and I like to give you the honest truth about golf equipment.

Check your lie angle, maybe go flat one degree and your 3 iron will be your friend again !
Taylormade buys Adams for patents and designs – they eventually release the Qi10 Tour rescue, everyone who still has an Adams Iidea Pro/XTD hybrid in the bag goes "huh that looks familiar."
Substitute your set 4 iron with a more forgiving hollow head 4 iron. That way you can have both of these clubs. Might head to find a hollow headed 4 iron that isn't as strong as the P790s though.
Rick mate, seen a few of your American videos… you played class in all of them. Your golf has improved so much, especially your putting. Its great to see. Maybe shut some of the mouths up
Switched long irons to hybrids years ago, every pro on tour has at least one hybrid!! Simply put it back in your stance for a low shot, it's not that hard, and you've snap hooked your long irons since I've been watching you, it's a good move.

That is the toughest hole in the bag. Please try or review the qi10 7 wood! It’s been a game changer for me. I go 4 iron to qi10 core 7 wood then stealth 2 plus 5 wood. Plus 5 wood is like a 3 wood for me…Almost as long but way more accurate and consistent distance with the shorter shaft
Rick congratulations man!!!…you been playing solid golf this year, I know you get a lot of criticism but we all know its not easy to play some of the courses you play and record every shot for everybody to see and judge…its good to see you playing more consistent…really enjoy the videos from the states this past weeks…keep grinding🙏🙏
Rick for the love of God man, every single club you use is just right from the manufacturer with stock shafts in them, why not actually go and get properly fit for clubs instead of trying to bandaid fix things with multiple clubs

Forget the new club Rick, you need to lose 10kg, the improvement in your game will be tremendous.
Put a stealth 2 3 hybrid in the bag for the gap … and absolutely love it! So much that I got a 4 hybrid. The 3 hits rockets … low fairway finders. My 4 I feel is more versatile. I can hit it low or put it up in my stance and get quite a bit of extra height and can get it to land pretty soft into the green. Cheers Rick 🍻
I have a non adjustable Wilson 2 hybrid I accidentally bought off eBay for $40 aud.
Best club in the bag, 220m carry, barely need a driver as I’m more accurate

This season I gamed the Taylormade M1 2017 19* hyberid lofted down to 17.5*. That hybrid was a rocket.
Most players shouldn’t be playing a long iron above a 4 and often times even then a 5. Some players can get away with these newer driving irons that’s super thick irons and in some cases like the dhy are basically a hybrid. Other than that I everyone should really be playing hybrid instead of long irons. When you’re not striking well that day the hybrid will punish you less than the irons will. That’s what golf comes down to managing your misses.

I don't get on with hybrids. Something about them I just struggle with. I've had a 7 wood in the bag for the last 6 months. It's been my favourite club. Fit's pretty well for me between 4 iron and 3 wood.
Rick I love my wilson staff c300 5 wood to the point I don't have a 3 wood anymore it has a low bullet flight 180…220 meters gave u looked at a 5 wood for yourself?
Student: “Rick how do you hit a 3 iron”.
Rick:”you grab a 4 iron out of the bag”.
One thing I did not hear you mention in terms of versatility of the hybrid is (also) the ability to putt with it in certain lies around the green. Perhaps better than chipping? PS – Are you sure that the shaft setting is right (might be too stiff)?? MG
I don't personally have this setup, but is it dumb to ask why we don't just have clubs start at 10° and add 4° up to 58°? That's 13, then the putter. Gapping would be more consistent. Am I crazy?
The Qi10 Tour hybrid is difficult to use, it’s not forgiving and requires a near centre strike all the time. The standard one which is more forgiving goes further . All the Tour offers is an adjustable hosel.
Shape of this tour Hybrid is nearly identical to my TSR3 4H. Love the shape. I get Great versatility and performance out of it.

With the time and money this guy has there is zero reason he shouldn’t be a scratch golfer or better. It’s kind of embarrassing actually.
Seems like your miss “leaky left hook” isnt anywhere near as prominent with the hybrid. I think it will make a noticeable difference, and can mitigate situations where those go too far left and it ends up a little chip to the green instead.
Ya man get on board…..I love my hybrids as a senior player I don’t even carry an iron below a 6 anymore just the 3,4,5 hybrids. Like you said sometimes I’ll top them a bit but at least not like I use to do with my long irons I tended to hit them thin or fat much to often…I’m so thankful for todays hybrids ..👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
This feels like a therapy session with Rick convincing himself to use the hybrid lol.
I think it's time for a few fine-tuning lessons. You've tinkered with your swing all season and changed things that made you a lot stronger with irons and wedges, and now need some fine-tuning with the top end of the bag using lessons.
It's amazing how everyone goes through it. I went through a similar journey this season. Granted, it might have been due to watching your videos, and following your journey; I now have lost confidence on the top end of the bag and need some lessons with the season ending for us.
So much difference between studio and coarse… Take these two outside, that'd be a better video….
Try some different makers …you don’t have to hit a Taylormade hybrid,,maybe another makers hybrids may suit your game better. Never know unless you give it a try..✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼
Your game is gonna change with age that’s a cold hard fact..the best way to play your best game is to have the right equipment..
I recently ditched the 4i to 4Hyb half way through last season (played 59 rounds total). Its so much more forgiving and I tend to hit a lot of rough 2nd shots. Playing more difficult courses with slope ratings 131-140. Last 12 rounds I also removed my 5wood and replaced it with a 3Hyb. Same result. Way more consistent. Im sold on Hybrids and debating switching my 5i to a 5Hyb next spring!

Great stuff, mate. I recently pulled my old steel-shafted Cleveland Golf Halo 2i and 3i hybrids from circa 2009 out of the rafters and stuffed them back in the bag. I took out my Taylormade 5 metal and Hybrid. I forgot how accurate I was with the Halos. Sometimes, what's old is new again.

Can we get Rick in a tournament. But I want him to get a caddy/coach the entire week. Let them work on his game prior to the tourney. They make the decisions. That’s the video I want to see. The entire week!

I recently did the same bag change with a 5h and 4h using the stealth 2 head. It's easily the best looking at address, and I can do whatever I went with the clubs. I've never been a hybrid guy, but stealth 2 is a cheat code. Qi10 looks weird to me.
Even I your prime 2 iron days you reviewed the TM GAPR and out of the 3 (hi- mid- low) you surprised yourself with which one you preferred.
Being a 2 iron guy you thought it would be low all the way. Yet preferred the mid as it was so versatile.
And discounted the hi as you “didn’t” like hybrids.
TM still make albeit updated this club as the Sim, Stealth and now P-DHYs are just minor variations except the P-DHY looks a hell of a lot better than its predecessors.
I’d love to see you go DHY as it more forgiving than your P790 3/4 iron and you can keep them down more than a hybrid.
I have a Frankenstein of GAPR 3 Mid @18deg and Sim DHY 4 @22 at the top of my bag and love them.
