The DP World Tour reaches its 44th and final event of the 2024 Race to Dubai season as the top 50 available players tee it up at Jumeirah Golf Estates for the DP World Tour Championship. Rory McIlroy arrives in Dubai in pole position to win his sixth Harry Vardon trophy for finishing top of the season-long rankings. This season he’s won once at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic in January, finished runner-up four times and recorded three further top five finishes. The latest of those came at last week’s Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship as he strengthened his position at the top of the rankings. Thriston Lawrence will be aiming to chase down Rory McIlroy after an astonishing five runner-up finishes this year. Tommy Fleetwood will fancy his chances this week. He’s made nine top tens across the season so far including victory at the Dubai Invitational in January, T3 at The Masters in April and solo second at the Olympics in August. The Englishman also claimed 6T last week at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship. Others to look out for are Justin Rose, Robert MacIntyre, Shane Lowry and Tyrrell Hatton.

I’ve had just about enough of these trolls saying they’re sick of Rory highlights. Shut up. He’s the best/most popular player in the field every week. Of course they are going to show his highlights and I hope they never stop. If you don’t like it, cry about it and don’t watch. Meanwhile all the sane people including myself are loving every second we get to watch this living legend play golf.

Anyway Paul Waring once again in the mix what has he found out lately, would love to know. DP Tour is great viewing and Jureirah Estates looks better and better as each year passes.

I feel like his iron play is solid but the course today caught him by surprise, greens looked a lot softer than I’d expect for this time of the year and most of his irons just didn’t roll out as expected

I unashamedly open it up to see Rory first & love to be able to se the incredible ball-striking, driving, short-game & overall construction of his round separately from the rest. Highlights are frustratingly like turning a single page of several books. I will obviously also watch the round as a whole & am looking forward to the duel with Tyrrell Hatton when they are paired up.

ERM GUYS ITS ROUND ONE, NOTHING IS CERTAIN EXCEPT ONE THING, THE GOLF COVERAGE IS AWFUL, THE COURSES ARE WAY TOO EASY, 654 PAR 5 AND GUYS ON IN 2 TO TAP IN FOR EAGLE, COME ON THATS SILLY, GREENS SO PURE EVERY PUTT ALMOST GOES IN, NO STAND OUT PLAYERS, THEY ALL STRIKE IT THE SAME ITS ALMOST PLAYED FROM THE SAME SPOT, THE COMMENTATORS ARE DULLARDS AND WITH MOST GUYS ON LIV AND SCOTTY DOMINATING WEAK ASS FIELDS IT AINT GONNA IMPROVE, STALE GARBAGE, BACK TO GOOD OLD RORY, LEADING AFTER THE FIRST ROUND AND THE THUMBNAIL SAYING WHAT???????????????????????? My simple mind still can't understand WHY IN THE WORLD the crowd is standing/sitting just few yards from the fairway/fringe? Like the pros never miss the shot. Where are the safety measures? If a golf ball falls onto your head, especially after hit with a driver, you can end in a hospital, or even worse. I really don't get it.
