When making a full swing, the hands, wrists, and forearms, must rotate on the forward swing in order to close the clubface at impact. Many golfers, including Tiger Woods, also use a small amount of rotation during the putting stroke.
Precise timing is required to insure that the clubface is rotated to a square position at impact. This makes a putting stroke, which should be a simple motion, into a more complicated motion.
The need to independently rotate the clubface in relation to the club path during the forward stroke can be eliminated by using a lead hand grip that has been stabilized by slack reduction in the lead wrist joint.
