Developing a Plane Slot Swing: Key to a Serious Golf Game

    ================================================

You've got many years of great golf ahead of you, and it’s time to focus on a serious, consistent game. The foundation? A plane slot swing.

    The Role of Subconscious Swing

Most golfers have their own "swing thoughts," but the greatest players have mastered a swing so ingrained they don’t need more than a second to hit the ball. For them, the swing is subconscious.

For me, the key to a plane swing lies in the grip and elbow adjustment. Here's the breakdown:

Grip and Elbow: When your hands drop and your knees align parallel, the club should be in the swing plane. From there, you simply swing through.

Load, Don’t Pause: Rather than pausing, "load" the swing by dropping your arms.

Right Finger Lightness and Wrist Control:

As you start the downswing, hold the club lightly with your right fingers.

Allow the wrist (below the right thumb) to lead without breaking its cocked position, as if you’re scratching the surface of a wall.

    Movement in the Golf Swing

A golf swing is all about fluid motion. Trying to hold any position rigidly often leads to inconsistency.

    My Swing Theory

Right Palm Up: Start the loading process with the right palm facing the sky.

Right Wrist Leads: As you move into the downswing, direct the wrist (below the right thumb) toward the ball.

Scratching Motion: The motion should feel like scratching the wall with your fingers until impact.

    Key Principles

One Unified Movement: Golf is one continuous motion, not a series of isolated steps. The position at the top of the downswing leads everything that follows.

Elbow Role: The elbow’s job is to guide the club into the slot that matches your body. It doesn’t need to stay fixed to the body or force it in any way.

Control Through Wrist, Not Club Face: By controlling the wrist, the club face will naturally align itself. A flatter swing plane, especially for irons, helps maintain consistency.

    Removing Swing Thoughts

The goal is to eliminate mental clutter from the swing. Think of the right palm as guiding the movement, but it’s the wrist area below the right thumb that leads through impact, preserving stored energy without collapse.

Shoulder Tilt: To bring the club closer, tilt the right shoulder.

Weight Shift: Shift body weight to the left leg at impact; avoid hanging back for consistent ball striking.

By focusing on this sequence, you remove extraneous thoughts and create a repeatable, efficient swing with natural, subconscious mechanics.

  2. Your swing Errors now are … because long drive obsession and hanging back. Why you want to murder ball every time. Even for youtube golf you have to follow a consistent routine.

    Everything is a habit.

You got body power but bad swing mechanics.

No need to muscle. Even if you want to muscle one, it has to be done with shoulder tilt. For that you got bend more towards the ball.

  3. You will have million subscribers if you attempt to play PGA tour. i think yoy got the 'clever' mind not the skill. Skill can be learned. Bryson is big guy too.

  4. You have to feel you are hitting with tooth pick . grip should be like that. No one gona have perfect swing . What i want to see is FLUID Swing. you feel it by seeing.
less friction less jerky. its like been there and done that. All automatic.

Most players change so many things. Body swing is everything locked in place and forget you hold the club. Club is falling in a plane ( on gravity) automatic. All subconscious.

Everything needs a cushion for accuracy. Meaning that Right finger that holds the club and right wrist guiding can be adjusted/angled on demand to get Any Trajectory u want.

If i make human robot to teach golf that is what i do.

Greatest golfer the "Artist" needs to have big right palm and fingers. Flat shallow swing allow Artist to express things.

Wind swirling means you have to hit low trajectory shot to have ability to control distance on approach shot (rick flowler). Little punch shots with wedge.

David duval was on zone one time. he peppered the flag because he automated his swing process and his swing thought was where i am gona land the ball. He had no other swing thought.

  5. Martin, I have a few questions for you. I can't always make your streamed videos so hopefully you can maybe address some of these sometime. I would really appreciate it.

    1) Do you have passive arms that you whip down and through the ball or do you muscle the club with your arms? I guess explain how your arms feel in the swing.
    2) Do you think hand strength has anything to do with gaining speed? Is more better? (I personally think you can't have too much but you can have too little).
    3) Do you focus on the ball when you swing, or do you just swing and let the ball get in the way (more of a mental feel).
    4) What athletic motion do you think is most like your swing and or is most likely to promote a fast swing? (frisbee throw, wood splitting with an axe, baseball side arm throw, throwing the club, other?)
    5) I know there is at least one player in long drive that steps and swings but is it legal or has anyone actually dabbled with the Happy Gilmore swing? It is funny, but at the same time, it could legit give a person more speed and would be hilarious and amazing at the same time to see someone get good at it to the point where they can compete with it.
    6) Could you may be do an all encompassing video that includes all of your personal thoughts on how to swing as fast as possible? I would at least find it fascinating.

    Thank you!
