According to reliable media reports, St. Louis Cardinals chairman Bill DeWitt Jr. is staying with John Mozeliak as the team’s president of baseball operations. DeWitt could have gone another way by installing newcomer Chaim Bloom as the head of baseball ops. It will be extremely difficult for DeWitt to convince skeptical fans that the franchise is headed in a new direction when the same guy, Mozeliak, is still in charge. I’m not sure why DeWItt expects fans to buy into a “new era” sales pitch as long as Mozeliak presides over baseball decisions.

  1. Goldy gone. Arenado should ask for a trade if they're floundering at the deadline again. Helsley's trade value isn't gonna get any higher. They should take calls on him.

  2. It's really easy you don't have to spend much time trying to figure it out how or why they're doing what they're doing. They Bill Dewitt , Mo and all the upper crust of the St. Louis Cardinals management doesn't care about the fans! As long as Bill Dewitt and his stupid ballpark village, and all his other money making projects are lining his pockets. He doesn't see a need to change. He doesn't give two craps about Cardinal fans. He is totally fine with mediocrity.

  3. Our talent scouting department is fantastic. We see the talent really well. We just don’t help that talent reaches full potential once they reach the MLB that’s the problem.

  4. I mean, I don't see the issue with letting Chaim get one more year of full focus on player development and you let Mo walk out the door head held high. I also don't think Mo being safe extends to Ollie being safe, if Chaim deems him not part of the future plans. I will say it is perhaps less likely that Ollie gets canned….

  5. Dewitt jr….has no clue what is really going on….He could not even admit that the farm system is broken…..He kept saying how he thought they were still out in front of everything?….And Bloom was just there to slap on a coat of paint…..WOW talk about not getting it…….

  6. What do you think of this trade. Arenado and Nootbaar got Crochet. We get an elite arm and jettison the $37 M ish in mediocrity. White Sox get 2 guys to sell tickets by, and we get a true ace. Watched him obliterate the Yankees, recently, with 99-78 with great movement and bite.

  7. I'll stand but what I've been saying all along. Mo has been the puppet. He can only do what ownership allows. I think Mo did exactly what they wanted him to do.

  8. What was the point in the news conference??!!! And then all these big changes were coming?? 🦗 🦗🦗🦗 Is all hear and see. How in the f+-* do you bring Mo and turner ward back. I guess Dewitt must have liked an empty Busch Stadium cause it's going to be empty and not because they are bad but becausé he brought back the Mo!!!!!!

  9. This fan is going to respond to DeWitt with his wallet. No more games, not gonna stream, not going to watch on cable. To hell with Dewitt and his lapdog. I wish everyone would boycott next year. I hope he’s going to be happy with an empty stadium and when his stadium upgrades get voted down. Fuck you, billy boy. I’ll watch highlights on YouTube and listen to guys like Bern to fill in the gaps.

  10. Thinking the agreed upon talking points were to blame the minor league staff.
I agree it is behind the times. However, it has remained successful. The pooch is screwed at the MLB level. Players come up. Play well and fade. Repeatedly. The only success story is Masyn. Pallante to an extent. However he fixed himself along with Gibson. The MLB staff needs to be completely changed, to include Willie. New intensity and approach is needed. This is the elephant in the room, along with Moz. And no, I don’t blame fans for their frustration. At all. And indeed,
I can’t listen to Moz. Few people I have ever said that about in my 66 years. I’ll pass getting political here. We are happy with a youth movement. We just don’t want them poisoned by Moz and co. Bottom line up front? The head shed of the Cardinals is completely full of 💩.

  11. If you are Bloom….why even stay? So Mo can take credit for your work? So Dewitlees can promote Mo for what you did? Nah, we gonna lose him, too. It’s that basically what happened in Boston? Ownership promises one thing but does another? I hope they are endlessly booed in the Winter caravans, opening day, every time Mo or Dewitt are public, the fans have to let him know.

  12. His son and Mo let it all go to shit. I really don't think Dewitt Jr. has much say in things anymore and likely been that way for the last 5 years. Dewitt III just isn't competent or he's purposefully tanking the club on purpose.

  13. Marmol didn't do a great job be he did a good job. I'm kinda shocked we did as well as we did. I think he gets some of the credit for that.

  14. Agree thats its a dumb move to the fans. If dewitt wants to wait a yr then i will wait a yr with my ticket purchases. That being said, I am not completely upset. I think blooms job w minor leagues is so huge and important that let him focus on future and mo can play around the edges for a yr. Bloom had his hand in this yrs bullpen as only a consultant. I can't imagine mo and bloom disagree it will not go blooms way or bloom would leave as he would refuse boston v2

  15. I think it is clear now that the massive ego's of Dewitt jr and Mo would not let them acknowledge how bad the team has fallen….So to {in their twisted minds} save face, they came up with this ridicules plan to have Mo oversee the major league roster and Bloom take on the minor league rebuild….{reset??? lmao}….I guess it is what was expected as some billionaires do not live in the real world and have to be accountable for their foolish action's and deny any wrong doing …..I just hope behind the scene's Bloom has the final word on any and all changes to the major league team!…I do see Dewitt III as being a bigger problem down the road…..with his " we need to make the fan's a better experience at the ball park" comment as to a possible fix……wow oblivious to reality must be a family trait!!

  16. From Bloom’s point of view, Mo has to tear it down, but Bloom won’t have to take the blame for that the way he did what he was told and tore it down in Boston and everyone hated him and blamed him. Then he will come in to be the savior. Bloom is the only winner here.

  17. Could it be that Dewitt knows fans will be mad once again next year bc of the bad product on the field, so they are letting Mo take the heat? Do they want Mo to be the fall guy next year so Bloom gets a fresh start with a better team in 2026?

  18. Fuck the Cardinals. Ownership has destroyed this franchise. Oh, they spent PLENTY on Ballpark Village and condo development, but who wants to watch a shitty team? Or, have to deal with the 3rd world crime rates of downtown STL? Keep talking about those past championships because there will never be another one with this current owner/FO. Obviously, things are SOOO bad that we're banking on Bloom to be the savior???? 😂😂😂

  19. Einstiens theory of insanity….
Doing the same thing over an over an over.
    Expecting a different result.
    Finally…..

The fans hate, hate, hate Mo an Marmol,an DeWitt Jr.
Switching the channel to Denny Matthews.

  20. Maybe Mo has something juicy on Bill DeWitt. Or, maybe Mo is his illegitimate son. It just doesn't make sense to keep Mo in charge.

  21. Bill DeWitt Jr. seems like a man who has not paid a lot of consequences for his actions throughout his very privileged life. Based on little-to-no information—just a hunch, really—I suspect that Bill surrounds himself with yes men, and Mo might be the ultimate yes man.

  22. So before the 2024 season did they say the 2024 roster was arranged so 2025 could be even worse? Cards worth 2.55 billion, if there is a buyer, sell. Winning is secondary to to ball park village attendance and bobbleheads. Minimum Mo and his bosses have skimped the one more roster addition to take advantage of the careers of of Paul and Nolan. Remind me when Mo spend some dry powder and went for it….

  23. Dewitt is positioning to sell the team with all this crap and the stadium upgrades/lower payroll— so obvious!! For Christ Sakes, move Arenado and ask him where he wants to go. Bye!! So ridiculous. Send a message with 2.5 million fans or less in 25.

  24. Love the caps Bernie! Wishing you the best. It's interesting to me that some fans blame the use of analytics and technology for the Cards' poor performance in recent seasons. The industry clearly favors the teams that rely heavily on them. Just fascinating to me.

On another note I never thought I'd say it before about 2017 – 2018 but the Cardinals could take some pointers on how to communicate with fans from the St. Louis Blues. The Blues get their fans. The Cards don't. The Blues have built a lot of credibility with their fans because of it (along with making bold moves and tough decisions on the roster).

  25. This is worse than the Vern Rapp hiring keeping someone on John Mozeliak who can’t win a World Series is a loser when it comes to getting the Cardinals to be better if you don’t have the coaches 5 to get the job done hire more ? 😢😢We are sick of the Oli John show Marmol and Mozeliak
Show 😢😢😢 How can the Cardinals ever win a playoff game with these two losers running the show ??????

  26. About trading vets and turning everything over to the “kids” …that seems to be a scenario for complete failure, no? I mean, these players are the latest products of a neglected and decrepit player development system. From what within do they draw success?

  27. Bernie,

What’s so exhausting is the constant lambasting of Cardinals fans saying they don’t get to have opinions about the team since we are relatively successful in our franchise’s history..

Why do we get the accolades of the most knowledgeable and well read baseball fans in the league (BFIB), but can’t comment on our own teams operations and approach.??

    Doesn’t make any sense.
