Love the shirt in the opening. Go PREDS!!
Zac, play a round without the shades.
I love these collabs, you guys have some great matches and content!
Zac, I played that course on July 3rd. Greens killed me too. Everything (apparently) breaks toward the huge smoke stack
Turn the autofocus sound off in the camera!! But also great match guys!
Love the video series!
Couldn’t imagine driving it 375 and getting out drove by over 20 yards😂😂
8 Iron second shot into a 600yard par 5. WTF!
How big is Tig ? My guess is 5'8'' 170 lbs., He absolutely can knock the snot out of that golf ball for a medium sized dude !
Pulling for my Tennessee boy. You get the next one Zac. I like Tig much better when he isn't angry
I wanna see a match with zac and grant!!!!!
Tig shaving shots on the 8th hole. I counted six shots my guy, not 5.
love the addition of the scorecard!
Enjoy your videos guys!
22 miles from me. Love Old Works
You guys are a mile high in elevation. 7700 yards plays 7000. 600 yard par 5 plays 530.
Shame it was in bad shape when you played it..
The sand traps are made from old mining slag from the area where the course was built. Jack Nicklaus came up with the idea when he designed the course. Great use of the material!
You guys are picking some awesome courses! Loving the videos!
Holy crap Zac, you took my advice and came down? Awesome, I had no idea. So I live in Bozeman btw. Anyhow, a little history on Anaconda and Old Works:
Old Works was originally designed by Jack Nicolas as a links style course. The black slag bunkers are made of the broken down refined materials left over from the refining process. The material was first mined in Butte and was shipped up to Anaconda via train. It would arrive in Anaconda at the tops of those long shoots (the ones you saw on hole 3 and 4) it would be sent down those shoots to the bottom of the hill (right by the fairway and green on 4 there as you saw) where it was put into massive blast furnaces (all those remnants you saw). That all took place a very LONG time ago hence why it's called Old Works. The refiners use to call these places "works" hence the name. The new "works" was moved to the other side of town, hence that massive stack you saw (the old one was torn down 20 years ago but it use to stand proud overlooking the golf course) and the massive piles of slag you saw as you came into town. Keep in mind, those piles of slag have been there for some 50 years. Some of it is shipped off for various things such as filling sand bunkers like it's use there at Old Works and at the Briarwood Country Club in Billings Montana but most of it just sits there doing nothing.
So, to answer the question you had @16:55 yes, all of those were made by hand or sorta.. they had some rigging and what-not but compared to todays equipment they might as well have been made by hand. In fact, those are just the foundations, the original structures were absolutely massive. At one point, a long time ago, Anaconda was one of the biggest processing plants in the world.
15:18 Welcome to the winds of Old Works. They can be an absolute nightmare.
I believe it’s called slag
This is by far my fav golf channel on YouTube. Zac, your swing is inspirational.
great game Zac – really enjoyed watching – Tig is a great guy
So glad you made it to montana. My home state. Played old works twice. Hopefully you enjoyed your trip thru montana.
Great video! It would be nice if you learned some of the history of that course before you started talking about it. Lots of history in Anaconda and a great story about how that course came to be. And who designed it. A true gem in Montana.
Hey Zac, live in MT and have played Old Works a handful of times. The black sand is meant to emulate slag, the byproduct of refining copper ore. The Butte/Anaconda area is well known for having some of the highest-producing mines in the world.
If you ever make it to MT again and need a videographer in a pinch, I might know someone who can help!
Glad you got to experience Montana golf and weather! You forgot to mention this is a Jack Nicklaus designed course
Montana is the best. I moved here in 2002, moved away several times but I always come back. Billings currently. The first time I drove into Billings I saw these rock formations called rimrocks, or simply "The Rims." In my naivety, I literally thought they were the Rocky Mountains. Anyway I'm going to watch this now. I just got done watching your seven-part series with Micah @ Broadmoor. Totally awesome. ✌️
Are you guys ever coming back?
It’s a tale of two different kinds of shorts 😂
Zac, bringing this back. You guys really need to reach out to the clubs in Big Sky and try to play all 4 courses up there. Unreal…
The tee boxes look like crap for the price. Disappointing to see.
You boys need to be checking the elevatiom!
I live here in Montana. You boys just played an Arnold Palmer course that gets overlooked by many. It can kick your butt!
