Tied for the lead on the final hole of the Sanderson Farms Championship, Beau Hossler’s tee shot landed directly behind a tree. Arguing that a scoreboard and grandstand near the green would potentially affect his shot, Beau called for a TOUR Rules Official to ask for temporary immovable obstruction (TIO) relief. His request was ultimately denied.

Beau pitched out to the fairway, and proceeded to hit his third shot inside 10 feet and drained the par putt to force a playoff with eventual champion Kevin Yu.

  1. Van de Velde aimed for the grandstand. I think you shouldn't get relief at all from anything except the actual lie. I don't get relief when I airmail 18 on my course which has a tour event. I've had 60 yards back before, but if grandstands were there I'd have an easy up and in.

  2. I love golf but a lot of the rules are just stupid. How are the officials going to tell the golfer how he can hit the ball.

  3. Disgraceful. You hit it there. Stop trying to bend the rules. Poor sportsmanship at the very least. His character just got exposed. 🤡
